Chapter # 29
After sorting their matters out, they were leaving and Zariah was glancing at him from time to time.
They were in a van. A local who was working for them driving the van due to the patrol and not being suspicious either.
He knew she could no longer be involved in any activity.
‘The woman before me is no longer the human killing machine, no longer heartless, an ace, a pillar, or anything… It was Zariah.
‘MY' Zari to be exact.'
He thought with a strange, victorious but vile smile spread across his thick lips, scanning her from top to bottom.
His eyes were staring into her soul. Without questioning, her outburst disgruntled him, it induced perturbation.
‘So does that mean I am successful in saving her? I promised to return and take her away from this darkness- it happened.
So I won, I completed my promise, right?'
His hair scattered on his forehead, eyes surrounded with unfathomable clouds along with his hand over her shoulder.
She was pressed into him how a king would keep a queen in its proximity, his fingers twirling around her locks continuously.
'Where are we going?" Zariah asked, gripping onto his mask worriedly while he leaned back dominantly.
'To the runway,"
De Villiers arched an eyebrow, 'Have you tracked his location?"
'Yes, I did."
'What if it turned out to be a trap? What if he got the cops involved? They are hellbent on finding us,"
'Ah, don't worry about it. Getting me in trouble will automatically be hard for Zaviyaar. He wouldn't dare,"
Nathaniel chuckled triumphantly, waving his free hand in the air to shrug them off.
'Still, the cops are on strict investigation. They must have set the curfew. Do you think it's safe?"
Amanda trailed off, not sure about this idea but surely trusted her boss enough.
'What would we do if they were there too?" Zariah asked too timidly, helping Nathaniel wear his mask, earning a suppressed but evil laugh.
'Who says they are not?"
'What..?"
A grimace plastered on her features, putting it on felt like she was leaving Nathaniel only to replace him with some villain.
Her eyebrows twitched, not preferring him being a criminal, coming back to the center of destruction once again.
‘What happened to our dreams of living a customary life?'
This question was left hanging like a poisonous string in her heart as they fixed his mask before sitting in the farther corner.
'Who do you think we have been able to track?"
Enunciating darkly, they all gradually stopped at their place and Nathaniel received a call from a higher up who helped him all the way.
'Did you reach, Sir?"
'I surely did. Thanks for your cooperation,"
He hummed assertively and cut the call, taking out the sim and throwing it afar.
'You don't mean?"
'We are here."
They all were astonished when they stopped at the runway where ten men were present, recognized as Zaviyaar's men, Hashir and Akram, along with their other guards and their guest.
'My, my, everyone is here."
'And your beloved on the ground too," De Villiers snickered.
Followed by the soul Nathaniel wanted to ensnare. The old man was on the ground with his mouth covered with stains of blood.
Hands tied behind his back, writhing in pain as they all got out and soon a few cars came with Nathaniel men who were working in the shadows for him as well.
'Amanda, take care of yourself," De Villiers whispered as she stayed behind.
'You too, De Villiers,"
De Villiers was a few steps back, Nathaniel was holding Zariah as if she was a cherished chattel- no doubt she was but being held like a possession was unfavorable.
He was in his mask, no lower level gangster knew about his identity yet they stood behind him blindly.
'A message from Boss,"
When they stopped before each other, emitting a strong power, Hashir spoke firmly.
'There you go I have completed your request, here is your prisoner. Now, don't come after me, my family or my territory,"
'What about Zoran?" Nathaniel asked, leaving Zariah gradually to get a close glimpse of the man on the ground.
'Chose one,"
Shaking his whimpering body with his foot before kicking it hard enough that it coughed blood and he found satisfaction in his pan.
'Guru,"
'Pen drive," Hashir demanded.
'You will get that when I will find my escaped prey. Be grateful things are still functioning here,"
Nathaniel taunted and was about to hit Guru, Zoran's father again but Zariah held his arm. He paused, glancing at her hand and back to her anxious expressions.
Repeating it like a loop that she dared to stop him from tormenting his prey. De Villiers also got intrigued how he would react.
And to his shock, he did nothing and wrapped his hand around her shoulder again, gesturing to her to be relaxed.
'Yes, of course, disrupting the gangs, ruining the flow of our weapons and calling it doing nothing," Hashir scoffed.
'Do you want to see more?"
His dangerous gaze traveled from Zariah to him, furrowing his eyebrows with a serious warning.
'Absolutely not,"
'Then be grateful for what I give you and until I find Zoran forget about this pen drive," Nathaniel scoffed.
'Honestly speaking, I expected this,"
Motioning to a few of his men to check the jet present behind for them to escape this country. Leaving Zariah gradually, he walked forward.
'Good job, Hashir,"
'Don't thank me, he is the one who found him. He should be one of us instead of an officer," He smirked.
Pointing at the man in the corner who smiled faintly at the lethal personalities.
'My, my, Prakash, I know you are a qualified officer. Not only the public, you managed to fool my people too." Nathaniel chuckled.
And all of them were surprised that the investigating officer, who was being so confident in the media, was involved in this mess too.
'I do my work wholeheartedly, Sir, here is your prisoner and the jet,"
And Prakash also knew, being on this case would ultimately result in his demise so why would he care for a criminal who was not even involved in their country's affair?
It would be equal to having a death wish.
'And there is your reward. Show him. And I have a special record, you can use it to rank up. The rest depends on your luck," Nathaniel praised.
Giving him a file of the gangs in his area along with the evidence against them to help him lift his post and get better.
That's something he needed.
'Thank you very much,"
And from the jet, a certain co-worker from the hospital emerged, waving his hand towards Nathaniel.
'Hey Boss, ready to join work at the hospital again?"
'Hey Mark, did you put in my application for leave?" Nathaniel chuckled, waving back.
'Yup. Don't worry, you can join whenever you want,"
'Zari, I told him to give an application at work. I haven't wasted any of my holiday so I used them under the label of vacation with my girlfriend," He explained to her sweetly, offering her his hand.
'I see. So you will work at the hospital again?" She asked, almost happy to hear that.
'Of course, Darling, it is my dream job,"
'Take care, Sir,"
'Give my message to Zaviyaar, Hashir. ‘Congratulation in conquering your dreamland.'
'Hmm, I will," He nodded.
Knowing he must deal with the mess Nathaniel created here, take months or even a year to settle things before starting the work.
'And you, Officer Prakash, you are a capable man. It's been a pleasure doing business with you,"
Nathaniel shook hands with him as an act of admiration and turned to his people.
‘Oh Lord, when will this all be going to stop? Why is this life so hard to desert?' She thought.
She knew she was no less than these people but to her, she was no longer a part of it and at this point, this had become ‘repulsive'.
'Come on, guys. It's time to leave this country. It's time to go back with our little guest,"
He called as De Villiers dragged the man on the ground along roughly, throwing him into the jet.
Not liking the presence of the blood man, Zariah tugged on his sleeves and whispered, 'Who is he, Nathaniel?"
Flashing a vile smile, he pressed his foot over his head, pressing him harder into the metal with his fatality surrounding him again.
'He is Guru, Zariah. Zoran's father and as long I hold his neck, he will definitely crawl up to me like a pathetic worm,"
She gulped, 'Why?" Only to hear the unwanted statement.
'Because these people are my slaves, their lives are mine to own,"
