Chapter # 59
And exactly that happened, she constantly displayed weakness, begging Nathaniel to leave that side, being fragile.
All to end his brutality towards Guru but he didn't listen.
And when he didn't.
She decided to keep the end of her bargain… but in the end-
How could she allow her hands to hurt the ones her beloved loves?
PRESENT,
In a dark, dusty basement, Zariah and De Villiers were present. Their ankles were chains but Zariah got free from hers by using her blood to slip it out.
'Argh, fuck," She hissed, freeing herself.
De Villiers contemplated when she broke free and removed her scarf, wrapping it around her wound to suppress the bleeding and pain.
Forcing herself to stand and get near the egress window to find something to break through there.
'I almost forgot you used to be the Crazy Zariah, immune to physical pain,"
He remarked again but her mind was too distressed to even return a frown.
All on her mind was to save De Villiers and herself from this mess at all cost else she would lose her one chance.
‘Tsk, that asshole, he doesn't care if we stay or escape.' Zariah thought angrily when an opening to leave was given.
She knew Zoran was only doing to make them miserable, he didn't care if they live or not, he only intended to hurt Nathaniel-
Which he got successful in by shattering his pride.
'I should have taken the Ultimate Protection when he offered, he gave it to Amanda too, I thought we are always together, what could harm me?" De Villiers sighed, leaning against the wall, watching Zariah undo the window.
Being utterly helpless to liberate them from this tribulation.
'I am so sorry I got you entangled in this mess too,"
She breathed out, punching the wall when her hands were shaking due to dismal.
'Let's clear this up, we need to get over this shit because my baby still has three months to be born," De Villiers sighed.
Rising from the ground too and picking the gun left in the basement.
'I am so sorry, De Villiers, that asshole didn't keep our deal,"
'This is all my fault, he will hate me if he comes to know about the deal,"
Whispering, she went back to the window, keeping the gun as the last resort to break the window.
De Villiers replied nonchalantly, 'Well, he did kill your best friend too…"
'He can do this, I can't!" She snapped, clutching her chest out of anguish.
'I am too sensitive and weak in his matters. I cannot fathom, actually doing is a whole another scenario,"
Tears collected in her eyes that staggered him. De Villiers was still not used to her display of miserable emotions.
'That bastard said he won't tell him and that is why I went along but I swear if he told him and Nathaniel hated me, I would murder Zoran myself,"
'How… How weak are you in his matters, Zariah?"
‘So he successfully made her blind for him- or- was she always like this for him?' He thought.
Not sure if this was the after-effect of his affection- although her heart was asinine for him forever.
Bewildered, he never fathomed he would hear it and whispered.
'You, the unbreakable one, look at you, so hopeless, so frightened of his hatred,"
'He is the only emotion I have, my dream, my savior. What is my purpose in life without my Nathaniel?"
Her voice broke, breasts becoming hard due to collecting anguish. The slightest imagination of Nathaniel's rage directed to her was unfavorable.
'How much do you love-"
'How much? Is there any space for this absurd question left?" She hissed.
'Yeah, right,"
'Don't worry, I will get us out of here, De Villiers," She enunciated.
Unlocking the window and placing the box down to climb on it and run from the window but the movement shot a strong pain in her body.
Hissing, she fell on the ground as her leg was bleeding.
'You are shot, Zariah, please, stop moving," He whispered.
Worried sick about her condition but shaking her head in denial, she forced herself to stand and smile.
'You mean too much to him, you can't die nor I will let you,"
'You don't-"
'What Nathaniel adores, I adore."
Inhaling sharply, she tightened her knock to gain enough strength to run. Growling constantly in pain, it was hurting too much but she held it back.
All her perception revolved around was- ‘Take him away from here,'
'Look, there is one gun, one bullet,"
De Villiers smirked dryly, 'Probably for one of us to end each other,"
'I am going to shoot your chains and you have to take them on the second if they enter because it is hurting like hell, I can't move,"
'Okay, be careful,"
'You too,"
With a nod, De Villiers stood near the door after blocking it Zariah grabbed a rod to defend herself in case and shot his chains, indicating the men outside about the movement.
They attempted to break through as the pair climbed out of the window.
'Come on, quick, De Villiers, let's go, come on,"
Taking her hand, she pulled him up as well, getting out but the men on patrol stormed inside the room.
'Hey! Catch them!"
'Come on, De Villiers, hurry!"
They saw them escaping and started shooting them down, grazing De Villiers arms and one bullet his back, making him growl by the abrupt shot.
'Argh!"
Shrieking in pain, he fell on the ground as the intense pain shot through his veins, rendering him unable to move with blood oozing out.
'No!!"
Tears brimmed, covering De Villiers when the blood uncontrollable started flowing from his arm and back.
'Dammit," Cursing, she bore with the pain on her leg and when someone came to attack, she fought back.
'Careful, Zariah,"
'I am okay,"
Defeating the two men, she knocked them unconscious by the rod she held for support and took their guns, fighting back.
'No. no, no, don't worry, we will get away from here," She whispered desperately.
She wrapped her arm around his shoulder to lift him while his eyes were affixed on the ground with an unreadable expression.
'I can't… move… Zariah,"
'It's alright, I am here,"
Endeavoring to run from this place before the men reach them and start shooting again.
Her heart was thumping madly, tears streaming down while fighting back the men who were approaching following the blood trial.
'I am sorry, I am so sorry, this is all my fault,"
Her voice broke, gripping onto him with all her might. Her body was shaking, a tense sensation suffocating her.
'Give him happiness… for once…" He smiled, trying to remove his hand from her shoulder but she held onto him hopelessly.
'After what I did to him… after what I turned him into?"
'You are he had ever desired… he loves you, he can never hate you,"
She chuckled dryly, 'If that's the case then you better survive and tell him the truth,"
Her mind was barely functioning, her wound deepened, she almost screamed from the pain but shutting her watery eyes. She didn't care.
All she was determined about was to save him as she carried him away when the men almost caught up with them.
They hid behind a tanker. She was panicking, noticing her wound was worsening due to carrying De Villiers and fighting.
'We will get through this, De Villiers," She attempted to reassured.
But, it was more to herself.
Uncaring about her infection, she took off her sweater and tightly secured it over him so it would help with the bleeding but to no avail.
'To be honest… I never liked you before … but- Argh!- I think… emotional Zariah is better…"
De Villiers forced a smile at her struggles to get through them. Placing his large hand over her head to show his blessings.
'Take care of him like this forever,"
'Shut up. Stop talking shit. He said he wants to marry and you better be his best man," She hissed, the guilt was consuming her, breathless, agonized.
'Why don't you get it?! You have to leave me here!" He whisper-yelled, pushing her back to let him go.
'Why!?"
'Because I can't feel my legs anymore!"
Her eyes widened in horror yet consolidating her resolve, she refused to give up.
Hands shaking but punching the ground she growled.
'So what?! My hands are working, I will take you away,"
Before their argument could continue, an oddly familiar voice came from afar, igniting a ray of hope to overcome this tribulation.
'Get down, you two!"
