Chapter 32 - Who Will Cherish Her
Gossip about them had started circulating while they were still in bed.
And Anna only learned about it after breakfast and flipped through her phone.
She coughed softly, "Oh my God. Elizabeth's friend didn't even get to be in his presence this time?"
Anna didn't think Julia was an innocent girl. She could see Soros's eagerness at the time in the photo of the two kissing as they went upstairs.
So, with that thought, a wave of sadness engulfed her as she thought of herself.
By this time in her last life, she married Soros and had sex with him.
But this man's loathing for her was so intense that it went to his bones.
She only felt his hatred, never joy in this marriage.
She was ridiculous then, sacrificing herself for him in hopes of his love. But who would cherish a stupid girl like her?
Joey was also checking his email and inadvertently looked up to see the tears crystallizing in the corner of Anna's eyes.
Bewildered, he raised his hand to touch the teardrop.
Joey felt a sudden pang of heartache as the cold teardrop landed on his fingertips.
Anna jumped at his fingers and looked at Joey wide-eyed, "What are you doing?"
Joey sighed and took a tissue to wipe away her tears before shrugging at her, "Why are you acting like a child in front of me, young lady!"
Anna froze; she didn't know when her image shattered before him.
She cocked her head, "You can choose not to look at me."
Joey didn't say anything. He crouched down, propped his chin up and looked at her solemnly.
The fiery gaze made Anna a little overwhelmed, almost annoyed.
She was grateful for a phone call to break her embarrassment.
Anna answered the phone hastily, not even looking at who was calling.
"Hello?" Anna asked as she walked towards the bedroom.
A voice she would never forget came from the other end of the line.
Elizabeth Taylor's soft voice said, "Anna, aren't you deeply in love with Soros? Why is that bitch Julia sleeping with him!"
"Bitch?" Anna repeated subconsciously. She was slightly surprised at Elizabeth, who was suddenly full of dirty words.
"Elizabeth, you shouldn't be asking me that. He never loved me, you know that. He didn't sleep with me, isn't that normal?"
Anna's voice was so even that Elizabeth panicked a little.
She was baffled and said, "Anna, are you crazy? Shouldn't you be taking advantage of the situation at this point? What is your problem right now?"
Anna pouted. She had always thought Elizabeth was insatiable.
Her BFF instantly became the bitch in her mouth when she realized her old flame had hooked up with her best friend, who must be the contest's prize.
It would show how capable she was to be abroad and yet somehow still be able to manipulate this man's heart. Who wouldn't brag about that?
Unfortunately for her, she really didn't have a very good eye-brain, and she ran off with a scoundrel.
