Chapter 38: We're done.
Anna didn't know what he was thinking. But that confident face he had stung her.
She said coldly, "Mr. Soros, I've turned you down before. I think I've clarified that there's no future between us. Shouldn't you be happy that I'm finally not bugging you?"
Soros frowned, "Anna, don't say that. If everything had worked out as it should, we would have been married long ago."
He was still thinking about what had happened earlier and couldn't hear a word Anna said.
Anna was a little annoyed to hear this. Not wanting to waste more time explaining to him, she said, "Soros, listen to me carefully. We're done. Don't come to me, and I won't come to you. From now on, we're over."
With that, she turned and strutted towards her company.
Looking back, Anna found it a bit unbelievable that she had endured more than a decade of living like that.
Fortunately, she had now opened her eyes to face reality and completely stripped the veneer of Soros from her heart. The pain was unbearable, but it was worth it.
Anna gave an inward thumbs up as she thought about it.
She walked in, not noticing that Joey didn't follow her but stayed behind.
Joey told Soros, "Mr. Soros, this is the second time we've met, and you look good."
Soros frowned, "I know you are a college student left behind by Anna. If you leave Anna, I can give you more money. Of course, if you need anything else, say so."
Hearing those words, Joey grunted, "Mr. Soros, I heard you right, didn't I? Those words actually came out of your mouth. Don't you think there's something wrong?"
Soros' face became grim, "You are in no position to negotiate with me. Listen to me if you still want to hang around this place."
Joey laughed, "Mr. Soros, do you know what you look like now? A jealous husband. Why would I listen to you? I already work for Anna's company. She'll take care of me herself, so you don't have to worry about us."
The words "jealous husband" were etched in Soros' mind. He almost lost control. If it weren't for his image, he would have punched him.
"Think twice before you speak." Soros' words were severe, but Joey wasn't scared because Anna was behind him.
Besides, it was said that to capture someone's heart, you had to catch someone's stomach. Joey thought he accomplished that saying well.
Just look at Anna's drooling face.
Joey gave a cheerful wave, "Goodbye, Mr. Soros. Your roses are beautiful. But you don't seem to understand Anna at all because she hates roses!"
