Chapter 40 - Do you know how to cook?
At the end of the day, Anna took Joey to the market and picked out the ingredients herself to give him a treat.
Looking at her, Joey was a little confused. Did she know how to cook?
"You know how to cook, don't you?" Joey said, dumbfounded.
He could totally tell she was a professional, maybe even a little tougher than he thought.
"I never said I didn't know how to cook!" Anna thought the shocked Joey was hilarious.
"Wasn't it obvious when you first came to my house that I had dishes in my kitchen and kitchen utensils all used?"
Joey said, "Yeah, I thought you hired a cooking nanny!"
Anna didn't retort, "Yes, I hired one. But she usually does the dishes and cleans the kitchen while I cook."
She used to cook for Soros. When Soros didn't need it, she was always lazy and didn't want to cook for herself, let alone do the dishes.
Joey was utterly convinced. After all, the last time she was at her house, she slipped away as soon as she was done eating.
Joey carried the bags. Anna grabbed some spices. Then, the two of them returned to where they were staying and talked to the hotel about using their kitchen.
The hotel chefs even gathered around to watch and make "wow" noises as Anna cooked.
Joey had to say, "You're excellent; how do you do everything so well!"
Anna shrugged and looked at him, who was completely oblivious that he was doing the same, and said, "Is that so? But if I remember correctly, you're the standard all-rounder."
Joey couldn't help but laugh, "We should all stop, or we're going to get our asses kicked by them."
Anna looked back at the cooks as if they were really holding back their anger.
She didn't realize the cooks were choking on their flirting.
They had a lovely meal and were ready to fly home and finish the project immediately.
However, Anna reluctantly realized they had both overeaten and would not be comfortable on the plane.
After much deliberation, she finally decided to spend one more day in New Zealand before returning.
While they were wandering around the neighbourhood, two uninvited guests arrived at Anna's cottage door.
Caroline asked Soros, "Son, how did you offend Anna? I know she was good to you. Why did she leave you so suddenly? You must have done something."
Soros frowned and massaged his temples, "Mom, I really didn't do anything. I broke up with Elizebath, and Anna rejected my proposal."
"You proposed?" Caroline was taken aback, "You figured it out this time?"
Seeing Soros nodding, Caroline was sceptical instead, "That's impossible. You are so stubborn. Are you really willing to change your mind?"
Soros couldn't say he was born again and explained what happened in his last life to his mom. All he could do was stand there and question himself.
