Chapter 41 say goodbye
"Soros, how could you do this? It's not fair to Anna. How could you propose to Anna right after you broke up with Elizabeth Taylor?" Caroline just thought she taught him better than that.
Soros didn't see anything wrong with what he was doing, "But doesn't Anna love me? What's wrong with me proposing to her directly?"
Deep down, he felt ungrateful for how Anna had rejected him.
But he panicked when he remembered that Anna wanted her to have nothing to do with him.
On the one hand, he felt that she was giving him a hard time, but on the other, he thought she really wanted to escape him.
Caroline stomped her foot angrily, "So, who would have thought you really wanted to marry her? You couldn't have Elizabeth Taylor and were frustrated, so you came to Anna. Of course, she knew you were insincere, so why would she agree to marry you!"
Soros subconsciously tried to retort. He opened his mouth and didn't know what to say, as if everything wasn't what he thought it was.
Why would his own mother think he was wrong? He had already broken up with Elizabeth and proposed to the woman chasing him. Wasn't this a natural thing to do?
Seeing the look on her son's face, Caroline knew he wasn't listening to her. She didn't say much; instead, she seriously started thinking about how to keep Anna.
Over the past two days, they kept coming to the office to visit her, and the receptionist said that Anna had travelled on business and that a date for her return had yet to be set.
They didn't want to give up, so they had to wait.
So when Anna and Joey returned from their business trip with the gifts they had bought for the others, they met Caroline and Soros on a narrow path.
Anna was speechless. She hadn't expected Soros to bring his mom out here.
She could ignore Soros, but Caroline was different. She's always favoured her, and there's no way to say no.
Caroline took Anna's hand and didn't let go. Anna had no choice but to instruct Joey to take things to the office first while she herself dealt with the two.
Caroline picked Anna up and said happily, "Anna, it's been long. Did you miss me?"
Anna nodded, "Yes, it's been a long time, and I'm relieved to see you in good health, Auntie."
Caroline smiled from the bottom of her heart, "I was lonely, so I came back."
As she did, she looked around and said, "Is it convenient for you if we find a place to sit and talk?"
"Yes." Afterwards, Anna took the two to a French restaurant.
After ordering, Anna said, "Auntie, tell me what you want to talk about!"
Caroline sighed, "Ugh, Anna, I've watched you two grow up, and now you're both adults. It's amazing how fast time flies! But Auntie wants to ask, what happened to you and Soros? Now, you two don't even greet each other."
Anna tilted her head and affirmed, "Auntie, I actually want to apologize to you. I really shouldn't have bothered you and Soros for so long."
Without waiting for Caroline to reply, Anna continued, "Soros never loved me. But I pestered him repeatedly, so he paid attention to me, but I now realize it wasn't good for either of us."
"So I let him go. Soros will meet his true love. Technically, he and I haven't even been together as a couple, so this isn't even a breakup."
