Chapter 12: We Got a Marriage License
Under my mom's supervision, Elias and I got our marriage certificates.
When I received the two marriage certificates, I was still in a trance. Not long ago, I had been an independent single woman, but in a flash, I had become a married woman.
And I was married to Elias.
As I looked back on the first time I saw him, scenes of the past leapt before my eyes. At the beginning, I did fall in love with his face "at first sight", thinking that I was going to get married anyway, so why not find a good-looking one?
After that, I was slowly attracted to him as I got along with him.
After that, I was slowly attracted to him as I got along with him.
That attraction slowly took over my heart and my heart unconsciously opened up for him. It was also Susie's words that kept me determined to keep "annoying" him.
Why not try my best if he liked me?
"Elias, I told you that you would be my man sooner or later." I waved the certificates in my hand, "From now on, you can warm my bed legitimately."
Elias said helplessly, "Jacqueline, you wouldn't be happy for a moment if you didn't tease me, would you?"
I said calmly, "I only teased you, but you actually took advantage of me." I implied something.
Elias was speechless.
Although we were married, we still had a deal.
Elias told me, "We agreed to be married for three years as you said last time, and if you like someone else after three years, we'll break up peacefully."
I took his hand, "Having such a handsome and capable husband like you, why would I take a look at others?"
He rolled his eyes at me and said, "You never know what will happen next."
I didn't know how to answer him.
My parents were satisfied that my lifelong event was finally completed and went on a trip. I was busy with work and for other reasons, the wedding would not be held for a while.
However, the wedding rings were necessary.
I made some time to go to Only Jewelry for custom rings. It was an unusual day but I ran into Cheryl.
She was surprised to see me but greeted me anyway, "Jacqueline, long time no see."
I was in a trance for a moment when I saw her. But I quickly recovered and nodded politely without any emotion, "It's been a long time."
She was was surprised and gossipy when she saw the wedding rings in my hand, "You're getting married?"
"I'm already married." I said lightly.
"Congratulations."
"Thanks."
We politely exchanged business cards and were about to go our separate ways when Cheryl suddenly spoke up, "Has Ian ever come to see you?"
I took a step, turned back, and smiled, "I got things to do and I have to go. Goodbye."
Back in the car, my face instantly turned grim.
Ian, that was a name I hadn't heard in a long, long time.
After receiving the licenses, Elias, under my coercion, finally moved into the home where I currently lived.
I owned several properties in my name, as well as a villa. But for convenience, I usually lived in a large flat in the city with more than two hundred square meters of area. Even if Elias and I had a few children in the future, it would be big enough for them to play around.
After calling a few times, I eventually found him in the room.
He was lying on his side in bed sleeping.
Looking at his gentle sleeping face, all my hatred, injustice, and grievance disappeared in a flash.
I reached out and gently touched his beautiful brows, his long eyelashes, and finally his thin lips.
It was said that a man with thin lips was heartless. Ian had thin lips.
Would Elias also turn out to be a heartless man?
I had probably woken him up with my movement. He blinked and opened his eyes slowly.I was a little embarrassed, "Did I wake you up?"
He said in a hoarse voice as his eyelashes fluttered slightly, "When did you get back?"
"I just got back."
"Have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet."
The conversation was so simple and normal, but I felt the urge to weep as tears welled up in my eyes. I wanted to get up and leave.
My wrist was suddenly gripped by a large hand.
He stared at me for a moment and asked, "Are you unhappy?"
I didn't answer.
"Jacqueline?"
I blinked and reached up to gently caress his handsome face like I was stroking a precious work of art, "Elias, as long as you don't betray me, I'll treat you right."
He frowned, "What are you babbling about?"
"Nothing. I want to eat fried noodles tonight."
He grunted, "There' s no ingredients."
I pulled him up, "Let's go shopping together."
It was the first time Elias and I went to the supermarket together.
Elias was dressed smartly, which was eye catching, but also attracted the attention of a bunch of women and girls.
I gave a light snort.
He was shopping when he heard my soft grunt and asked me, "What's wrong?"
I didn't want to admit that I was "jealous", which would show that I was small-minded. I only said faintly, "You'd better dress low-key when you go out in the future, so as not to be coveted."
I thought Elias would be angry.
But he put down the item in his hand, propped one hand on the shopping cart, and looked at me teasingly, "Didn't you covet me like that at first?"
I turned the tables on him, "Yeah, after I saw you at the cafe, I only had one thing on my mind, which was to eat you."
Elias pushed the shopping cart and walked away in a huff.
I laughed secretly behind him.
At the checkout, a foreigner was gesturing anxiously, but the cashier could not understand him. I listened for a moment and noticed that the man was speaking French.
But I was not very good at French nor did I want to be involved, so I only watched them from a distance.
I didn't expect Elias to go to them.
I never knew Elias could speak French and even the Frenchman complimented him on how well he spoke French.
After the Frenchman thanked Elias and left, I couldn't help but ask Elias, "Why can you speak French?"
He looked around and said, "I will go to the front to look for the sauce."
Knowing that I was married, Silas invited me to dinner. I happened to be looking for him as well.
Silas made a block booking of a whole clubhouse, which could be described as generous.
"Boss, congratulations on your marriage."
"Thank you for your blessing."
When Elias and I got married, Silas happened to be in France on a business trip, so he had someone send me a gift.
I took a look at the gift he sent me. It was a jade bracelet that was pure and spotless.
I estimated that its market price must be starting from $3 million.
He was very rich and had no difficulty in sending a watch or a bracelet that cost several million dollars.
The problem was that he gave it to me.
I took the jade bracelet out and put it in front of him.
He took a look and smiled, "What are you going to do with this, Boss?"
I pretended to be modest, "The gift you gave me is too great for me to accept, and I can't come up with anything to give you in return, so you'd better take it back."
Silas drank his wine and said leisurely, "There is no reason to take back a gift that has been given out, besides, it is just a small token of my appreciation."
"By the way, in addition to this small gift, I have another present for you."
My heart jumped.
As soon as Silas said that, a figure pushed the door and entered.
Against the light, I could only see his thin figure. When his face appeared in front of me, I was frozen in place, unable to move.
It was him.
