Chapter 41: How Could He Be So Heartless?
I took a deep breath.
As important as my relationship was, the two things at hand were also extremely critical.
"Yes, go on."
Elias disappeared for five days.
I asked Yvette to trace the last location of his phone and found that it was in front of a cat cafe, and after that, his phone was turned off.
There was no sign of him at the orphanage. Susie had gone to her new home. Mrs. Sanders even asked me why Elias had stopped visiting the orphanage lately.
I didn't know where else he would go besides the orphanage, cat cafés, and the milk tea store where he used to work.
He was nowhere to be found.
He didn't even have any friends or family. He didn't know anyone but me here.
Was Elias really that heartless?
I had only mentioned the divorce in a fit of rage. Did he have to take it so seriously and cut off all contact with me so coldly?
Wasn't he afraid that I would be sad and in pain?
"Boss, you have not slept for two days and two nights. Your health will break down if you go on like this." Yvette was very concerned.
I looked up, my eyes bloodshot, "Haven't you found Elias yet?"
Yvette shook her head.
"Go on."
"Boss, I will do everything possible to find Mr. Silva, and you have to take care of yourself as well. If you collapsed, how am I going to explain to Mr. Silva then?"
"If he really cared about me, he wouldn't have walked away from me."
I really hated Elias at this point.
It seemed to me that it was just a normal fight, but he had such a temper that he simply disappeared from my life.
Did he ever consider my feelings?
Was it all a lie when he said he liked me?
"Don't bother looking for him." I said in a cold voice, "It's not like I can't live without him. I have plenty of choices. Ian is waiting for me, isn't he? Why should I beg for his mercy and be sad?"
"Boss, you're just saying it in anger."
I covered my face, not willing to shed tears in front of Yvette, "You can go back to your work now."
When I turned on the lights after getting home in the evening, I was no longer greeted by Elias in an apron with a spatula in his hand, who asked me to wash my hands before eating.
The large house was empty and terribly quiet.
"Meow..." The small voice pulled me back to the reality.
I looked down and saw Bitsy.
I bent down to pick her up and sat on the couch, gently stroking her head, "Bitsy, Elias doesn't want me or even you anymore."
Bitsy didn't understand but looked at me with her head tilted to one side.
My tears fell down right on Bitsy's head.
She tilted her head in confusion and then started to wash her face with her paws.
I looked around and it seemed like he was all around me.
"Jacqueline, how many times have I told you not to lie on the couch right after eating? It'll impair your digestive system."
"Drink a glass of milk when you go to bed and it will help you sleep."
"How old are you to be afraid of thunder?"
"Just sleep and stay still."
"You should have breakfast, or you'll be sick."
"Don't you have hands of your own? Why do you have to ask me to dress you like you're a child?"
...
This house was filled with our memories, and now that I had lost him, it became just terribly quiet.
I couldn't even stay here any longer.
"Bitsy, let's go somewhere else, okay?"
At night, Iggy was stunned when she saw me appear at the door of her villa with a kitten in my arms.
I smiled bitterly, "Iggy, take me in for a few days please."
After getting Bitsy settled, Iggy and I lay on the large bed talking.
"Elias is missing?"
I replied yes gently.
"No one disappears for no reason. Have you not looked for him carefully?" Iggy asked.
"Of course I have. I have used all my connections and I've almost turned the city upside down. Iggy, do you think he's in any danger?"
"According to what you said, he doesn't have any enemies, so he shouldn't have any worries about that."
"You should have a good sleep first. Look at your eyes. You haven't had a good rest today. He'd be heartbroken if he saw you like this."
I smiled bitterly, "If he really cared about me, he wouldn't have left me alone."
It was probably because Iggy was by my side or I was too tired, I fell asleep at some point. When I woke up, I found that Neil had sent me a text message.
"Sis, I've made it."
Since he helped me find Elias with Yvette, he gradually started calling me sis.
I didn't bother to correct him.
He could call me whatever he wanted.
Did he succeed in "hooking up" with Serena?
I sent a question mark to him.
As expected, Neil called me, "I took a lot of effort to attract Serena's attention. Sis, you know what? It turns out that Serena has been playing with a lot of young men over the years."
Although I was prepared mentally, I still found it funny.
At the beginning, Serena had overridden all objections to marry Silvan and even risked her life to give birth to Silvan.
However, it was also because she and Silvan were seemingly in harmony but actually at variance that I had the opportunity to take advantage of.
The fact that Serena could play around on her own did not mean that Silvan could do so under her nose.
Even though Silvan now had money and status, he achieved everything with the help of Serena.
She would not like her husband to spend money on other women.
"Sis, I'll try to lure Serena over there sooner."
I had come to know Neil's personality through the past few days. The mistake he had made that day was indeed due to alcohol and Silvan's instigation.
Now, I could be sure that he had "repented and reformed".
But that was why I thought of him as a younger brother and couldn't help but worry that he would be hurt by Serena.
"Be careful and don't get hurt, understand?"
Hearing my words, Neil was touched.
I hung up the phone and was determined.
When I got rid of Silvan, I would do everything in my power to find Elias.
I would say sorry to him.
And I would say the three words.
"I love you."
I found myself lost without him and I couldn't get my head around what I was doing. Iggy laughed at me and said that love really could be hurtful.
So what if it hurt?
At least my memories with Elias were sweet and happy.
Five days later, Neil told me that Serena had decided to "visit" his place on the same day as Vivian's birthday and that Silvan was going to celebrate her birthday in the new house he had bought for her.
Everything seemed ready.
I didn't need to show up but simply waited in peace and quiet for the final result.
Sure enough, Neil sent me a message in the afternoon, "It worked."
