Chapter 60: Dripping with Sarcasm
Things had been resolved successfully and I should have set my heart at ease, but I couldn't sleep.
Just the thought of him sharing a bed with another woman made me insanely jealous.
Yes, I admitted that I was jealous.
I hated him because I was still damn in love with him.
However, our relationship was destined to end in nothing.
I didn't know when I had fell asleep. When I woke up the next day, it was already 10:00 am.
I hadn't had a good night's sleep in a long time.
Five days later, the order was successfully handed over to Jennings and the branch president was relieved, surprised, and happy, "How much I do thank Mr. Silva this time!"
"Ms. Thompson, thanks to you and Mr. Silva, otherwise, I would really have to kill myself."
I waved my hand, "Just this once. I won't report this incident to the chairman, but you have to uncover the mole, understand?"
"Please don't worry, I'll find this mole even if I keep an eye on it twenty-four hours a day." The branch president gritted his teeth.
On the way back home.
Elias and I were resting in first class.
I hadn't seen Nicholas for a few days and I only wanted to fly to him and hug him at this moment.
After getting off the plane, I had a quick bite to eat and returned home.
Nicholas was already asleep, so I kissed his little cheeks and tiptoed out of the room.
Julia, the babysitter, said to me, "Ms. Thompson, there's something I don't know if I should tell you."
"Just tell me what's going on."
"Today when Nicholas was in kindergarten, he... quarreled with another child."
I saw her hesitating and said in a deep voice, "Julia, tell me the truth."
She had to be honest, "Nicholas got into a fight with a child."
A fight?
I gasped in astonishment.
Since Nicolas had been small, I taught him not to be aggressive. Men should be gentle and polite, even if others did wrong, we had to convince others with reason. As an absolute minimum, we had to win by our wisdom for our own benefit.
Did Nicholas turn a deaf ear to my teachings?
It would be awful if he had learned to fight at such a young age.
Seeing my face change, Julia hurriedly explained, "Ms. Thompson, don't misunderstand, Nicholas didn't mean to fight with other children because... It's because the other kid teased him about not having a father, so Nicholas got angry."
My heart sank.
A sour and numb emotion rose involuntarily from the bottom of my heart, mixed with sorry and heartache for Nicholas and resentment for Elias.
If it wasn't for him, Nicholas wouldn't have been bullied for not having a father.
"Bully." I said coldly, "Who is the kid who said Nicholas doesn't have a dad?" I'd like to see how the parents of the other son teach him.
"It's Sammy Chelton," Julia said, "I've asked the teacher, and his parents are Nellie Chelton and Timothy Chelton."
Nellie Chelton?
It couldn't be the Nellie Chelton I knew, could it?
I was busy with work and Nicholas' pick-up and drop-off were left to the nanny and my parents, so I didn't know much about their classes.
I thought, with the nearly million dollars I pay in tuition a year, and the occasional "charity", I had been sure they wouldn't neglect my son.
As it turned out... Heck!
The next day, the kindergarten happened to hold a parent-child interaction session.
Nicholas attended a top-notch kindergarten, and all the children who could attend this kindergarten were all from wealthy families, so, ordinary people might not be able to get in even if they looked for their connections.
As soon as I stepped into the classroom, I heard a bunch of exquisite rich women discussing all kinds of jewelry and high fashion.
As soon as I appeared with Nicholas in my hand, they all looked at me.
A few of the rich women recognized me and stood up, while two others greeted me with great enthusiasm, "Ms. Thompson, why are you here in person?"
"I'm Nicholas' mother and today is a parent-child interaction session, shouldn't I have come?"
The rich women took a look at Nicholas and were shocked, "Nicholas is your son?"
"Yes."
The rich lady who accosted me seemed a little guilty, her gaze drifted from side to side for a moment, then she laughed awkwardly, "No wonder I thought Nicholas looked especially like a person with a top-notch temperament, but I didn't expect he was your son."
I nodded my head and did not respond to her enthusiasm.
Nicholas took my hand, sat down, and told me in a small voice, "That auntie you were talking to just now is Paul's mommy, who has poked me with her sharp nails earlier."
I remembered.
One day I had seen nail marks on Nicholas' forehead and asked the nanny, who had said it had been possible that Nicholas had accidentally gotten them when he had been playing with the other kids.
My eyes shot straight at the rich lady just now like a sharp sword.
She smiled at me awkwardly.
My eyes were cold.
Bullying my son?
At that moment, a woman with exquisite makeup and a distinguished temperament appeared at the door with a little boy in her hand. I knew who she was as soon as I saw her.
Nellie.
I had not seen her for a long time. She was no longer that "cunning and greedy" little girl. She had become mature and stable after she had a child but also sharp a lot.
Last night, I had looked up Nellie's trail and information over the years.
After the cruise ship incident, Nellie had somehow stopped making trouble for me, nor for Ian. In short, she had quietly "disappeared" in my life.
I bided my time.
Apparently, Nellie recognized me.
Her face stiffened for a moment, but she immediately regained her composure, declined the warm conversation of the other rich women, and walked toward me.

"Sister," she said, her voice as sweet and clear as ever.
"Hello." I smiled, "You can call me Jacqueline. It's been a long time, Mrs. Chelton."
"Yeah, it's been a long time." Nellie meant something, "I didn't realize you were Nicholas' mom."
Didn't realize?
It seemed to me you had investigated it for a long time.
"Jacqueline, I greatly admired your boldness back then and had always wanted to be a general career woman like you, but I had limited ability and eventually I could only get married, raise my child, and educate my child properly, unlike you. You don't have time to teach your boy."
I looked at her with cold eyes.
She looked straight at me, not at all afraid, "Jacqueline, children fighting is a common thing, but your son still have to be properly educated, or he would become a hidden danger to society."
