Chapter 58: I'm Worried About You
After two days of work, I was so tired and dizzy that even Yvette couldn't stand it, "Boss, you need to take a rest."
"I'm not tired."
"You haven't slept for almost two days. You have to consider for Nicholas."
I looked over at her.
I realized that since I had Nicholas, Yvette had one more reason to persuade me.
I took a deep breath, "Okay, I'll rest for half an hour. After half an hour, wake me up immediately."
But I didn't wake up until evening.
Perhaps I was so tired these days that even the biological clock in my body didn't work anymore.
I was a bit furious and wanted to look for Yvette when suddenly a black shadow appeared in front of me.
I was startled, "Who is it?"
"It's me, don't be afraid."
I was relieved to see that it was Elias, but I immediately reacted, "Why are you here?"
"I'm worried about you."
I lifted the blanket and got out of bed, but I didn't know if it was because I had slept for a long time that my blood pressure was low. The moment I got up, I felt dazed.
A hand held me steadily.
"Yvette said you haven't eaten well in two days, so I made some oatmeal and your favorite scones."
My stomach was rumbling.
After eating a bowl of oatmeal and drinking a bowl of hot soy milk, my spirits were much restored.
Elias looked distressed, "There's no need for you to work round the clock even if you can't get your work done."
I didn't want to wrangle with him because I had eaten the food he had prepared for me but just said, "Do you know how much TR will have to pay for breach of contract if we don't settle this thing quickly?"
"How much?"
"Three times the compensation under the original contract order, which is nine hundred million dollars."
Although TR could afford one billion, it was not easy.
Besides, it might be a trap this time.
Elias frowned, "Tell me about the specific circumstance."
I subconsciously wanted to tell him but finally shook my head, "I'll take care of this myself. You're not one of us. Besides, how do I know if you're working with the other company? If you're, what should I do if you tip it off?"
In fact, it was impossible for him to do that.
I just said so thoughtlessly.
"Jacqueline, don't get in a rage. I'm just worried about you and want to help you."
"You can't help me."
Elias asked, "If you don't tell me about it, how do you know I can't help you?"
The next day, I went to meet the head of the partnership, Mr. Jennings.
Mr. Jennings was a native Canadian, who was about sixty years old and had gray hair.
Although he was old, he was picky. As soon as he opened his mouth, he dealt me a head-on blow, "Ms. Thompson, if you don't deliver a new order to me within three days, we will follow the contract and you will have to pay me $900 million."
Ten days.
How could the order be completed in ten days?
Even though we were rush to produce products on the order overnight, the material was extremely precise, otherwise, it would not be so valuable.
I held back the turmoil within me and said even fawningly, "Mr. Jennings, it's TR's responsibility this time and we will definitely be responsible for it. We are willing to refund you one percent, but it is impossible for us to complete the order in ten days. We need more time."
Jennings shook his head, "Ms. Thompson, your company places the utmost importance on keeping promises. Isn't it a little too much to ask me to take care of you when you are the ones who broke the contract in the first place?"
My lips compressed into a thin line.
There was no point in talking more.
He clearly had no desire to negotiate peacefully with me.
Hearing that the order had to be completed within ten days, the branch president almost wanted to kill himself.
"Boss, this matter is because I haven't paid enough attention. I am willing to take the blame and resign."
I waved my hand, "What's the use of your resignation now? Can you finish the order in ten days?"
He had a bitter face.
After a while, his eyes suddenly lit up, "Boss, actually, I have another way, but..." Then he showed an expression that seemed to say this could not happen.
"Say it."
Now even if there was one chance in a million, I was going to give it a try.
"As far as I know, Silva Consortium has also made this material and their instruments are even more advanced. And I've heard that they have produced batch of goods recently. If..."
"If we can convince Silva Consortium to sell this material to us first, maybe we can reduce our loss."
"But..." He sighed, "How could Silva Consortium sell the material to us, it's a pipe dream."
"Ms. Thompson..."
"Okay, go back to work first. Let me think about it."
"Okay."
After sending him out, Yvette also kind of egged me on, "Boss, why don't we ask Elias for help?"
I gave her a resentful look.
Yvette coughed lightly, "Boss, it's not that I'm speaking for Elias, it's just that this is the best way to reduce our losses. Besides, we're not borrowing their materials for nothing."
I laughed, "Yvette, I'm in the middle of a divorce with the president of Silva Consortium. If I go beg him, what will I be?"
It seemed I had to start with Jennings.
At my invitation, Jennings finally agreed to see me by appointment.
We met on a private cruise ship.
Although Jennings was over 60 years old, there was no lack of beautiful women around him. The women he had played with were countless as Yvette described.
Although there was exaggeration, but he had indeed been playing around.
The private cruise ship was Jennings' property.
Although I was the one who had invited him, it was he who had chosen the location.
After the branch president knew about this, he was also a bit worried, and even persuaded me, "Ms. Thompson, it's not that I gauge the heart of a gentleman with my own mean measure, but Jennings is actually not a good person when it comes to women. I'm afraid he'll do something bad to you for that he asked you out alone on his private cruise."
I laughed, "He's seen all kinds of beautiful women. I'm just a married mother. How could he be interested in me?"
"Please let Yvette go with you."
I shook my head, "He has only invited me. If Yvette goes with me, I'm afraid he'll grow angrier."
In the evening, I went on Jennings' private cruise ship.
I had heard that his cruise ship cost hundreds of millions of dollars and the annual cost of maintaining the cruise ship was also expensive.
When I arrived, Jennings happily got up to greet me, "Ms. Thompson, welcome here."
"Mr. Jennings," I nodded my head in greeting.
"Let's go outside to enjoy the wind and the sea. There's a different feeling of the sea at night." Jennings said with a smile.
"Sure."
From the time I arrived, Jennings behaved like a gentleman and not like a lustful man. Perhaps the branch president was overthinking.
"Ms. Thompson, how is it? Isn't it beautiful?"
I looked at the dark sea and couldn't see anything, but I nodded, "It's s very beautiful. The ocean is unfolding on a magnificent scale. Broad-minded people are just like the ocean."
"Ms. Thompson, are you hinting at me?" Jennings had gotten closer to me at some point. He was tall and his hand crept up to my waist.
