Chapter 36: Not the Forgiving Type
"I've heard that some men can do it seven times a night. It's an exaggeration, but it shows that a man has a lot of stamina. Do you know what I mean, honey?"
Elias was naked. He pinched my cheek, "What? You still want more?"
I nodded and said sincerely, "But can you give me a break first?"
He froze for a second and suddenly burst out in a hearty laugh.
"Honey, you're so cute." He leaned over and kissed me on the cheek.
"I'm cute? How can I be described as cute as the president of TR?" I protested in my mind.
He put on a bathrobe, "I'll get you a snack."
I blinked my eyes, "I'm not hungry."
"If you don't eat a little, how will you have the strength to cope with me?" He pinched my cheek, "I'm afraid you can't handle my enthusiasm."
Me, "..."
Elias made me a sandwich and a glass of warm milk.
He brought them to me and I said, pouting, "Feed me."
He shook his head helplessly and dotingly but still fed me with the sandwich. I took a bite and grinned, "It tastes good."
"Hurry up and eat." He urged.
Perhaps I had worked so hard that I was actually starving, so I quickly finished my sandwich and milk.
When I burped, Elias stared at me like a wolf and asked me kindly, "Have you had enough?"
"Yeah."
He pounced on me like a tiger, "Now, then, it's my turn to eat you."
A passionate night passed.
Elias and Neil went on their internship with Quentin and Simon in TR. Although it was basically cut and dried that Elias and Neil would stay, I would give Quentin and Simon a good review even if they didn't end up staying in TR.
Their experience and reviews here were enough for them to find a good job in other companies.
Everything was headed in a good way.
I was now waiting for a good time to give Silvan a big surprise.
The opportunity finally came.
Neil told me that it was Vivian's birthday in a week and that Silvan would be celebrating her birthday at the house he had bought for her.
I pondered how I could get Serena to their secret base.
After thinking about it, there was only one simple and direct way to do it.
After Elias found out that I had purchased an upscale penthouse in the city in his name, he went straight from his seat to my office.
He looked sullen.
"Jacqueline, what are you doing?"
I closed the file, "Buying a house."
Elias scowled, "Jacqueline, do you need to spend so much effort and sacrifice to get back at one person?"
Me, "..."
I didn't even say it, so how did he know? Had Neil told him? But I hadn't even told Yvette about the purchase of the house, not to mention Neil.
"It's not a sacrifice. The house is ours since we bought it. It's not a loss, not to mention the fact that it comes with a heavy responsibility, isn't it?"
Elias sighed and said helplessly, "Jacqueline, you would have been a fatuous and self-indulgent king in ancient times."
I raised my eyebrows.
Did he call me a fatuous and self-indulgent king?
I narrowed my eyes, "Elias, you're so disrespectful during working hours. Don't you fear that I'll make things hard for you?"
He rolled his eyes at me, "You can do whatever you want."
Well, well, well.
What a haughty little wolf dog.
I got up and took his hand, "Actually, I need you to do me a favor."
Elias nodded his head.
The next day, I was in the office looking through Serena's profile.
I didn't know Serena very well.
Serena was from a prominent family in the city and it was easy for her to find a good match with her status. But the strange thing was that Serena had not married after the marriageable age.
At first, everyone had thought that she had set her sights too high.
But later, she had met Silvan. She had managed to convince her parents and married Silvan, and even risked her life to give birth to a boy as an elderly parturient.
Serena cherished her child.
Silvan was indeed handsome and looked like a movie star at a young age. I had also been blinded by him because he had not revealed his ambition at first.
At that time, I had just joined TR. Although I had been full of energy and ambition, I had not had a chance. I had only done odds and ends every day.
I had been much more miserable than Elias and the others interns back then.
As a young intern, anyone could have told me what to do. Most importantly, I had not been able to fight back.
I remembered once I had been bullied wildly by the manager of the same office for pointing out a loophole in her planning.
At that time, I had been young and tough. Even if I had been embarrassed by my supervisor, I had still been bold.
But I had forgotten that the tougher I had been, the more aggressive the other side might have become.
When I had been burned by boiling water, I had finally cried. I had squatted alone in the corner, resenting all the unfair treatment.
"What's the use of just crying? If they pick on you, you can just fight back."
I had turned around to see a slender man with a handsome face standing not far away.
I had known him as Silvan, the sales manager of our company, who had been famous in the company not only for his outstanding business skills but also for his character and excellent appearance.
I had heard that the women who liked him in the company could have lined up on the street.
I had never spoken to him face to face because he had been mysterious. When he had taken the initiative to talk to me, I had been surprised and doubtful for a while.
"Don't cry." He had handed me a clean handkerchief, "Wipe your tears and snot."
Only then had I realized how awkward I had gotten.
"You have to remember that this world is a jungle. The weak ones will never have the right to speak. Only when you are strong can you protect yourself from others, understand?"
"If you don't mind, I can teach you. With me paving the way for you, you'll have a smooth path in the company, but you'll also have to work hard on your own, understand?"
He had been a savior to me at that time.
I had been so moved that I had not noticed the calculations behind his "kindness".
I had not realized it until he had taken me to the presidential suite in a hotel and tried to do something wrong to me, pretending to be drunk.
He had come prepared from the beginning.
He had never tried to help me in earnest. He had simply treated me as a toy in his hands that he could manipulate.
Fortunately, I had been blessed with the presence of good people in my life and had not suffered any danger every time.
I had been saved by a good person.
Silvan, who had been planning for a long time, had gotten nothing in the end. The worse thing was that he had set me against himself.
I was not the forgiving type.
