Chapter 27: Speaking from Strength
As soon as Elias pushed the door in, it immediately became quiet inside. It was Neil who finally broke the silence, "My name is Neil Yount. I hope we can work together and spend this precious time during our internship in harmony."
"I'm Elias Silva, nice to meet you."
"Elias, is it?" The slightly straight-tempered boy spoke up, mocking him deliberately, "Your profile was blown to the ground by the wind just now, I picked it up for you and took a look at it. I'm sorry for that, but I'm a little curious why the column of your education is blank."
"Quentin!" Neil intended to stop him, "Cut the crap."
I couldn't bear it anymore and pushed the door open. All of them, except for Elias, paled when they saw me.
I calmly walked up to them, propping my hands lightly on the desk, "Hello everyone, I'm Jacqueline Thompson, President of the Southeast Region of TR. Starting today, you are TR's intern employees. Although we will only keep one person in the end, no matter who goes and who stays, your resume will have a perfect score."
After hearing this, all of them, except Elias, looked worried.
I changed my attitude, eyes slightly stern, and said seriously, "However, I hope that during the internship, we work together in harmony, compete fairly, and don't do villainous acts. What TR disgusts most is that employees seek their own interests by unscrupulous means. if once found, they will never be hired, and I will not speak any good words on the internship evaluation, do you understand? "
The people nodded their heads.
I gave them a candy to eat and then a slap on the face, just to make them understand that they should not easily challenge the authority of the company.
"Well, you all went through a series of selections before you finally got the chance to work here. All of you have a fair chance and are starting from scratch. I hope you work well and I look forward to seeing you all make your mark."
As I said this, the boy named Neil kept looking at me with unblinking eyes.
I was no fool and could see the admiration and adoration in his eyes.
I looked over at Elias, who had already taken it all in and had his thin lips pressed tightly, obviously not in a very good mood.
"In the future, if you have any problems, you can look for Yvette, my assistant. You can get more in touch with her too, after all, you will work together eventually."
"Boss, do you mean that one of us can be your assistant in the future?"
I glanced at the person who asked the question and matched his profile.
His name was Simon Weston, an outstanding student who graduated from one of the top universities in our country, with a nice resume and a good look.
But...
His temperament remained to be seen.
He was smart enough to stir up trouble and let Quentin come forward, so that even if something happened, he could end up with clean hands.
My eyes flicked over him and landed on Quentin James.
He had heavy features and a tall figure. With what I heard earlier, I probably knew that this man was straightforward and had not much bad intentions.
As for Neil...
I believe that he is Elias's strongest competitor.
"Yes, when the time comes, the person who remains will be my right-hand man along with Yvette. Okay, Yvette will arrange internships for you, and the meeting is over." Before I left, I passed Elias a look.
Walking to the door, I texted him, "Come to my office."
A short time later, there was a knock on the door of my office.
I said "come in" and Elias walked in calmly.
I got up and was about to call him " husband " and give him a hug. He dodged my hug and said, "Boss, we are in the company. Please keep your public and private affairs clear. You have just said fair play."
I was amused and annoyed, "The door is closed, so who will know? Besides, it's private time and it's just the wife missing her husband."
"Please set yourself an example to others." Elias took a step back with a straight face.
I was so frustrated by his seriousness that I waved my hand, "Okay, I'll do as you say. You just started today. If there is anything you are not used to or if there is anything you need, just call Yvette, okay?"
"Okay."
I handed him a card, "This is a dining card for the top employees of the company. Keep it."
Elias didn't take it but looked at me with his beautiful eyes, "Be fair."
"It's just a dining card. You can at least take this benefit, right?" I was very helpless, "I don't want you to starve." The restaurant for the company's senior staff had more choices and better ingredients.
He insisted on not accepting it. Instead, he educated me, "What would the other three intern employees think if I go to the top restaurant with this card?"
He was right.
"Well, you make your own decision." I took the card back.
"If there's nothing else, I'll go to work."
"Go on."
When he walked to the door, I couldn't help but call out to him, "If someone gives you a hard time, make sure you tell me, don't keep it inside."
He nodded without saying anything, gently closed the door, and left.
At noon, I met Ian when I went to the restaurant for lunch.
To be precise, he sat in front of me without my permission.
I raised my eyebrows, "Mr. Yates, when sharing a table with someone, don't you ask the other person's opinion?"
Ian's brow slightly furrowed and he looked uncomfortable. He lowered his voice and asked me, "Jacqueline, why did you let Elias come to work at the company?"
When did it become his turn to question me as a subordinate?
I put down my plate and my knife and fork touched the plate, making an ear-piercing sound. I looked slightly cold, "Mr. Yates, please be aware of your status. You are not in a position to question any of my decisions."
"I'm not questioning you, it's just that Elias..."
"What's wrong with him?" I said lightly, "Have I given him the manager's position and allowed him to do nothing? He entered the company through regular recruitment and started as a trainee employee of the company, there is nothing wrong with that."
I looked at him mockingly, "Instead, you came to TR through the nepotism of Silas. Ian, who are you to question Elias?"
Ian's face turned pale for a moment at my words.
"Mr. Yates, if it's okay, you can change tables. After all, I don't want to my appetite to be spoiled." I asked him to leave.
Ian took a deep breath, "Jacqueline, do you hate me that much now?"
I looked up and met his mournful eyes.
To be honest, I felt guilty for a moment.
Back then, I had loved him from the bottom of my heart and wanted to give him the whole world. Unfortunately, he had not cherished it.
"Not exactly." I broke his expectations, "I am now treating you as a superior treats a subordinate, other than that, there are no other distractions."
"I understand." He nodded his head.
After a moment, he spoke, "Do you know what Elias has done that night at the cruise ship?"
