Chapter 20
The four men split up with Brandon and Damon going one way and the Guardian and the valley master going the other way, they needed to not be noticed till they have their gun pointed at Kent.
"Shall we try our hands at the table". Damon suggested.
"I have no idea how you became the successor to the Guardian like this are you sure the Guardian isn't bewitched it's easy to miss things like this". Brandon said acting like he was thinking about it.
"You might be privilege to hand out today". Damon replied with a snort.
"So gamble it is".
The two of them begin walking around and checking the tables one after the other trying to find out the spot that is for the bosses that is the table that hosts Kent.
" This is rather exposing for us let's get to the losers booth". Damon sa6and walked off briskly a man at the opposite table had been watching them and sending signals to someone else.
"The losers booth?" Branson asked again to be sure he heard alright.
"We're on our way there, look around the losers booth would have men looking like they're suffering from hangover, with black eyes, crumpled outfit and a life is ending look".
"Guess I found them then, over there". Brandon said and pointed to a table whose occupants matched Damon's description.
"Where is the guardian". Damon asks and begins to look around for the man, he took after the man, so he knew the man would also go to the loser's booth to find information.
"Why, do we need him?" Brandon asked
"Nope, we just worked too much together I can always tell what he is thinking at present times". Damon said
"Let's go to the table then your Guardian should be there, and when do you plan to start calling him father I think he was quite pleased earlier when you called him dad".
"I'm not in a hurry and I didn't think he is".
"The best of men still has emotions and emotions are the downfall of everyman. He might understand with his head that you have another family and it might be difficult to totally ignore that and settle with him you still need to realize that the Guardian isn't too old to give birth rather far from it, yet he took himself off the bachelor's list and announced you as son and also announced you will be the only son in his lifetime, you owe the man everything you own in the Darkworld". Brandon said and it brought them to a halt with Damon getting momentarily distracted by what Brandon had just told him, Brandon was right and he feels like he hasn't been fillial enough.
"We're at the loser's booth in case you didn't notice". Brandon said and turned Damon to face them.
"See I told you we'll meet dad here". Damon said to the surprise of the Guardian, Brandon and even the Valley Master.
"Dad, I have no idea why you have become such a gambling addict, if anything mom's death ought to make you get right up your senses bit you're always here.
"Son, your father isn't always here, I'm always here and I don't know his face, go easy on him deaths are traumatic". A man sitting at the table tried covering up for Julius, although he really hadn't seen him before it might be because he gambled at a different table.
"No sir, I know what I'm talking about he was discussing with his friend and said he had been invited to the boss's table and I didn't know until recent what the boss's table meant". Damon replied acting harsh everyone else had finally picked up what Damon was doing and just sat mute.
"See, son if your father indeed got invited to the boss's table he must have been a good gambler he didn't lose money did he?" Another man at the table replied.
"He must have lost money now you never win a game at kent's table you know it's understandable that he is sitting here with us, go home with your son man so he can feel better". The first man spoke again.
"Now sir what do you mean you never win at the boss's table is there foulplay going on in this place". Damon asked raising his voice slightly like he was getting angry someone might have scammed his father.
"Go home lad, I'll meet you at home". The Guardian replied deciding to act alongside his son.
",No dad, I won't mister please tell me what goes on". Damon enquired of the man again.
"Well, once you're on a winning streak you get called to the boss's table only if you dare you bet either all or more than half the money you've won so far".
"Isn't that quite ridiculous why would anyone ever agree to that". Damon chipped in cutting the man off.
"Well, how to know a gambler we never turn down invitations to gamble no matter how dangerous they look do you get it know, every gambler doesn't think I could lose this money they think I could win more money so we give everything a shot".
"And you lose money and get relegated". Brandon said with a snort earning an elbow from Damon.
"Well the man at the boss's table is Kent the owner of here, and people never win, neither do we ever have the evidence of a foul play or anything".
"Kent must be very smooth where is the boss's table?"
"What do you wanna go there for, listen that ain't no place for small boys and I don't think they accept anyone who hasn't been on a winning streak, you wouldn't even be listened to unless you're loaded with millions they play with racks over there". The man once again told him.
" I am kind of confident that I only need to get there, and I'll win back my dad's money".
"Now, you're talking a gambler yourself, but let's go I'll take you, if you have the money to squander, don't say I didn't warn".
