Chapter 55
"Honestly at this point, I give up. I wonder if Brits would ever return to this home?" Damon said, with a sigh.
"Well if she's doing fine outside the home why should we force her back". Caeser responded colly.
"Are you serious right now?" Damon asked bewildered.
"It's also best for you that she doesn't return". Caeser responded with a smirk that looked mysterious.
"How's that?"
"I don't think I want to sit here arguing the unnecessary toss with you".
"It's not like you have anything to do asides sit in a rocking chair breathing and sighing".
"You don't know how great that us beyond talking to you, and relay my message to britney that its definitely better she doesn't return, if not I'll have to show her how young my bones are".
"It's easier to admit, I wonder why you're refusing the obvious facts".
"I'm a vampire, I'm nowhere near old".
"I know, that's also why you're so used to rocking your chair and sighing".
"Get out of my house".
"Impolite request obliged". Damon says before pouring the last bit of wine into his mouth and strolls out of the room.
"Damn mannerless". Caeser shouts after him.
"That's how you raised me". Damon shouts back before slamming the door after him.
The sun hits his face quite hard, the house was dark and cool a sharp contrast to what his face beheld outside. There seemed to be fire burning. Brushing his hands through his hair and quickly unbottoning the two first buttons of his shirt, Damon starts to stroll down the walkway to his quarters of the mansion when an image of Britney blew across his mind. Clutching his fist and dragging his legs, Damon could only swear under his breath, cursing the universe and all.
"Why?" Damon cursed. He always thought he and Caeser had the same destiny from the universe. They were cut from the same cloth and would tread the same path, so what's the universe suddenly thinking, trying to screw him over like this. Running is on street area thoroughly with obvious and onions his mind once again as to what Caesar said about kol.
"How dare Kol -- How dare he". Damon thought to himself. Kol dares to covet what's his. Damon mutters before freezing his words once again hit him hard.
It seemed as though his feelings grew every minute, how his eyes were so tightly shut to any signal earlier seemed like a wonder to him. All of a sudden, the only thing that filled his head, body, mind, heart soul was Britney. Maybe he needed a shower even the sun was too hot.
"Damn it". Damon swore under his breath before throwing open the door.
The sound of the shower filled the roomand seemingly helped shut out the thoughts out of damon's head, it was however only a short relief.
Images of when Britney first got to the Dark world pulled into his mind. Pale, white skinned, thin little thing, she looked so frail like she could break or wither away by a slight gust of wind. Contradicting her pale frail body however was one of the strongest looks ever. All signs of life lived in her eyes. In her eyes lived the hottest fire, it spelled rage, hatred, survival---- the look in her eyes was enough to cancel whatever theory her appearance passed.
Britney's existence was hidden, only Caesar's agents knew her and it was only the elite. Caeser had trained her and Damon together hours and hours into the night. It was quite easy for them to surpass every other agent. Caesar's men who knew her only knew her as a secret agent.
Only Damon knew about how Caesar had stumbled into the mansion all drunk that fateful night holding a wounded girl, who looked as good as dead. Caesar himself passed out after asking Damon to look after her. He of course ended up looking after the both of them.
However exhausted himself, he stayed awake all night watching the girl that had more scars than any general, battle through several nightmares through the night. It seemed a fierce battle and maybe for the first time in his life he held onto someone's hand and sincerely prayed, that she would win this battle that, she would scale through. Caesar woke up a few hours before the day broke and watched the girl who had only just calmed down, begin to fight another nightmare. It seemed the battle wasn't going to end until either of them died. Caesar looked beaten and helpless and for the first time since Damon had entered into the mansion, his emotions were clearly written on his face --- Fear, guilt, anxiety, hope.
Whoever this girl was, it was at that moment Damon knew that she was now an important part of their life and he was going to spend the rest of his life protecting her.
"Fight girl! Fight! Fight and win this battle and I swear I'll never let you fight another battle alone ever". Damon had muttered to the girl.
Caesar looked at him briefly but wouldn't say anything, just tapped his shoulders and walked away. Not knowing what else to do Damon stood up and walked after him.
"Where'd you find the girl? We're keeping her right?"
"First, I found her in one of my wild escapades deep in the forest, second, yeah, she would be your little sister".
"My little sister? Won't you owe the council an explanation? Do you have one?"
"Your questions are too much. I won't be explaining anything to the council, we'll sort that out. Listen here Damon. The moment I took you off that I announced you as my successor. It means you may have other parents but here in the Darkworld, you're my son and that little girl your sister. Now it's us three against the world, you would be her knight".
"What's my sister's name?"
"I don't know what she's called, but we might have to rename her".
"How about Britney?"
"Why Britney?" Caesar had asked amused.
