Chapter 63
"Lord Augustus, you'll be sanctioned by the council, so you'll think twice about using this council for your personal gains next time".
"My lady...".
"Also you're to apologize to each members of the council, especially to the elders sincerely, Lord Caesar included".
"Yes, my Lady". Lord Augustus responded, gritting his teeth.
"Lord Donald, I admire your ability to admit your mistake and right your wrong before this council, hence you'll be rewarded for such honest and righteous attitude, please keep it up".
"Thank you my Lady". Lord Donald answered.
"The reward of course spreads to the other two lords as well". Lady Penelope announced.
"Thank you my Lady". The other two lords also announced. Thank goodness they changed sides early, this could have being their grave.
"Lord Julius Caesar has once again been proven as loyal and righteous, continue the good work, this council hearing is therefore dismissed".
"Thank you for the praises my lady".
The room is emptied with everyone congratulating Caesar and passing condemning glances over to Lord Augustus, he would definitely have an hard time begging these people, Lady Penelope chose a really good punishment.
"Nice show I must say".
"We've had it toughter this was a sweet ride".
"We hope you'll be keeping your side of the bargain".
"Indeed we would, by the time you get home the ledger should be waiting for you".
"Thank you".
"You didn't have to mention at all". Caesar responds and the three take their leave, leaving Caesar and Damon behind.
"Time to go home".
"Any news about your brother?"
"Nope.... I guess he would be back in a week maximum or earlier".
"Nah he would be back sooner".
"You gat my brother on your radar?"
"Well little birdie tells me anything".
"I'm off".
"I'll be leaving tomorrow morning, such nasty defeat, I thought they had much more".
"I have to say I didn't expect something so easy either, but we should be grateful to them right?"
"Let me know if there's need for funds in settling and building thenl villages. We don't want them suffering for too long".
"Don't worry, Bridgerton can cover this, thank you Brandon, ever since dad died you've made it easier to carry the burden here".
"You shouldn't thank me, it's more my duty as your friend".
"You should hurry home now, I hope to meet the rest of the Salvatore one day, and the Melville and the Saint.
"I would like to spend some time with the men, I miss them as well".
"Didn't you guys bond enough over the battle yesterday?"
"I couldn't see everyone".
"Good, you can head to your room, I'll inform them you're only staying for one more night".
"Thank you Liam".
"You're welcome....?"
"Good morning aunt Betty".
"Welcome young master, how was journey?"
"Well.... Good I guess, Where's mom? And the girls?"
"The girls are over at school, they won't be home till late afternoon, and madame is in her room".
"Okay aunt, can I have whatever the girls had for breakfast?"
"They had sandwiches with tea".
"Okay bring it up to my room in thirty minutes, I want to see mom, then freshen up".
"Okay no problem".
"Thank you aunt". Taking the turn that adjoined his parents bedroom with the living room, Damon pauses in his step when he remembers his discussion with Brandon the other night. He didn't remember to ask aunt Betty if the old man was around, but he had a feeling she would have told him.
It was definitely better of that they didn't meet at all. There was no way in hell, he would forgive him, this time.
"Damon". Mrs Salvatore called surprised to see her son standing out there. She had opened the door having heard voices, but was surprised to find out it was Damon who had returned.
"Mom". Damon responded, still not knowing whether to ask if his dad was back.
"Why are you standing out here and when did you return?"
"I came in just few minutes ago, I was about knocking".
"You weren't about to knock, you were just standing out here spaced out".
"Yeah, sure, I wasn't sure dad was in or not".
"He didn't return yet, might never?" Mrs Salvatore shrugged.
"You sound nonchalant, what's this?"
"I just had a nice good thought, I'm a vampire I'm going to be around here for over four hundred years, I don't know how I'm going to spend all that years but it's definitely not sulking over a man".
"That's deep".
"Thanks to Aurora, I think I got a grip of myself".
"We should cook more chicken broth for Aurora, since she has so much sense".
"How was the battle?"
"Brandon told you...?"
"Yes".
"Well wasn't even a battle, so to say. Just small fries acting up ".
"Damon, I wish you wouldn't be so involved in the matters of the other world. Those people can get so dangerous and the things they could do....."
"Mom... Do you know what Caesar would always say to me?"
"Caesar.. I can't possibly guess what a mad man like that could do?"
"There's no limit... Just like you can't possibly guess what Caesar could do, those people can't possibly guess how far I could go... That's how much power I have".
"Damon..."
"Mom, I'm a Salvatore and a Caesar, anyone who dares to go against me, would have themselves to blame".
"You all Salvatore have one dominant trait this stubborn heart, and you salvatore caesar seems to have the worst of them, how in God's name does Caesar train you?"
"The hard way".
"Really...? Why don't you invite the man home for dinner one of these days?"
"Caesar? You want to invite Caesar home for dinner one of these days? I would gladly relay the message, I'm on pins to hear his reply". Damon laughed.
"He wouldn't like the Invitation?"
"The so beautiful Elena, Salvatore is inviting him, I don't think he would dare to decline".
"Go wash up and have something to eat".
"I don't smell, I already had my bathe today".
"But you travelled down here".
"I already had plans of taking a shower, I'll leave you now".
"Okay son".
