Chapter 97
"According to recent evidence which was found at the crime scene, it was found that Mr Smith here by guilty of the murder that was charged before him", The judge proclaimed.
"Guilty, how can I be?,when I didn't do it" Mr Smith hallowed and his voice boomed through out the court room.
"Tell your client to respect this court and he should not allow me hold him in contempt", The judge said angrily.
Mr Smith's lawyer quickly got up and apologized to the judge in charge of the case, before sitting down and whispering in Mr Smith's ears telling him not to offend the judge, so that he can cut down on the years he would use in prison. The further annoyed Mr Smith because he does not want to go to prison.
The results shocked Aurora and Paul but not Arianna who already knew because the police officer told her already.
Paul ran out of the court room because tears were already dropping from his eyes, because he didn't want to believe that his Father was the one who murdered his friend's parents who were very nice and accommodating people.
Aurora followed after Paul to check up on him, though she was also confused because everyone thought the results of the test would be in favour of Mr Smith, but who would have thought.
Aurora met Paul at the alley beside the courthouse, where he was weeping profusely. Going on her knees she hugged him and allowed him cry to his satisfaction.
Paul raised his head to look at Aurora as he wiped his face blew his nose.
"I'm sorry Aurora, you can get back to the court room I'll come behind you", Paul said trying to look brave.
But Aurora was not having any of it, she knew he was hurting does not want to go back inside and see his Father taken away.
"No I want to stay here with you, I'm not leaving until I know you are alright". Aurora quipped.
"I just don't know what to do", Paul said honestly.
You'll figure it out somehow, we'll all figure it out,. I promise. Aurora reassured him.
They both back inside the court room and met the Lawyer defending the honour of Mr Smith.
The judge adjourned the case to a week's time.
Arianna, quickly went to look for Aurora and Paul, and she saw them talking to Mr Smith, who was telling his son to believe him that he would never do such. That he could be many things but a murderer.
"I believe you Dad", Paul said to his Father.
"Mr Smith don't worry we would do our best to assist you in any way we can", Aurora chirped in.
As they took Mr Smith away the three friends made a resolve to find the killer at any cost.
Arianna took Paul and Aurora behind the courthouse and informed them of her suspicions.
"I think Mr Peterson has something to do with the deaths of my parents", Arianna said convincingly.
"What do you mean, did you see him?"Aurora asked.
"I think he sent someone to follow me",Arianna told them.
"I also believe what you said Arianna because the other day at the police station when we followed him he was telling someone to retrieve the evidence". Paul informed Arianna.
"We need to inform the police officer so he can assist us just in case we run into any problems",Aurora suggested.
"Don't worry about that because the Police officer is on our side he told me his suspicions earlier on, because he was telling about the forensic officer who was attacked in her home in the late hours big yesterday, I feel like the evidence were tampered with", Arianna explained.
"Let's quickly go and meet him and talk to him about it" Paul said agitated.
When they got closer to the police officer they saw a bike coming towards him and he wasn't aware, so they rushed and dragged him away from there.
The police officer quickly took a picture of the bike and sent it to the patrol team and told them to find him as soon as possible.
"Thank you guys the police officer", thanks them.
"You are welcome", they replied.
They all got inside the police officer's car and drove to the police station. On getting there, he started narrating what the forensic officer told him. He said he went to get coffee so that he can continue working when he saw a shadow, but before he could react he was knocked unconscious by someone.
And when he woke up the DNA machine was already working, but he remembered that he hasn't started the machine before leaving but just thought to continue like that so as not to raise suspicions.
"But why was my dad found guilty by the evidence?" Paul questioned.
"We needed to make the killer think we don't know his game, because he wasn't aware that we kept a portion of the isolated DNA that's what we would use, but we don't know or suspect anyone that we would need to collect their DNA". The police officer said.
"We have a suspect", Arianna informed the police officer.
"Yes we do",sir Paul added.
"Do you have any evidence against him?", The police officer asked.
What if we look for evidence against him Arianna asked .
Well if you find anything it would be better but I'll suggest you leave it to the police to handle it.
"I can't leave it to the police alone I have to find my parents killers". Arianna retorted.
"Then who's your suspect?" The police officer asked her.
"It's Mr Peterson" she replied.
"What, why do you suspect him?"
"He has given me more than enough reasons to suspect him". Arianna said.
"Ariana I know you don't want him to be your guardian but you can't implicate him because of that". He told her.
"Just trust me sir I'll not do anything stupid", Arianna replied.
"Ok, I've heard you, how do you want to pull it off, how can you get evidence from him because I think he's a very careful man".
"Just leave that to me",Arianna told him.
