Chapter 96
Back at the police station, the police officer quickly called the forensic department to come get the evidence that was found to be tested.
The forensic department quickly came and got the evidence and took it to the laboratory and handed it to the scientist in charge of the case and she quickly got to work. After isolating the DNA samples on the knife it was indeed found to be more than two DNA's on the knife and the third one was not of the victims but it was of someone else, but it was definitely the killer's DNA.
The scientist quickly got her phone and put a call across to the officer in charge of the case to inform him of what she found out so they can look for the killer with the same DNA as that on the knife.
The police officer in charge of the case called Arianna to inform her about the situation of things and what they found out about the samples on the knife.
Arianna quickly told Paul and Aurora about what she just found out about and they agreed to meet up at the park.
Paul and Aurora got there already and they were waiting for Arianna to get there. They were both pondering on what Arianna wanted to say to them, when Paul spoke up.
"Do you think they found who the killer is?," Paul asked Aurora expectedly.
"I don't know, let's wait and hear what she has to say", Aurora replied Paul.
Arianna quickly ran to the park to meet up with Aurora and Paul, when she felt someone following behind her.
She got to the Park five minutes later than she was supposed to, which got Aurora and Paul worried that perhaps something has happened to her.
"Hi guys", Arianna greeted.
She quickly narrated everything thing the police officer told her over the phone to the both of them, but they have to collect blood samples from the suspect who was Paul's Father so that they can confirm if he was really the killer or if it's someone else that was the killer, but she said she was pretty sure that Paul's dad was not really the killer that she thinks someone else did it.
"What you said means a lot to me",Paul said looking solemnly.
"It's okay dear", Arianna responded.
Aurora looked at them and smiled because it's been a tough time for the both of them.
Let's go to the police station and talk to the officer in charge of the case since told her to drop by at the police station In an hour's time. On getting to the police station they met the lawyer who was supposed to proofread the documents and check the genuineness of the documents.
Immediately the police officer looked up and saw them coming closer to his cubicle, and she was beaconed to come closer to them and herself and her friends went together.
On getting closer, the police officer stood up and told them to take their seats and he told them that the lawyer was done proofreading the documents and that they were genuine documents and that it wasn't forged or anything and she has been given a week to either go and stay with the man on his house or allow him stay at her house.
''What the hell!'' Arianna yelled.
"You can't allow her stay alone with a stranger", Aurora also said standing up to her feet.
"Exactly" Paul seconded.
"This is not up to us anymore and your Father thought it was the best thing to do", The lawyer said trying to convince them, as he stood up to take his leave.
"What do you suggest you do officer", Arianna asked the police officer.
"I think what the lawyer said is the best thing to do, since it's something your parents think would be the best idea".The police officer said.
"Can I think about this?" Arianna asked the police officer.
"Yes, sure, but you have one week to do that" The police officer replied and gave her an understanding smile.
Arianna thought to ask him about what they are going to do next when Paul beat her to it.
"What do you think will happen now that we have the DNA of the killer" Paul asked curiously.
"Well we need to cross examine everyone that's a suspect in the case". The police officer replied him .
Paul nodded in understanding, and looked at Arianna expectedly, but she was not looking towards him. She continued asking the police officer other things as Paul drifted to his thoughts.
What if Dad was found guilty? Does that mean I'm a murderer's son? Would people see me or look at me differently from the way they looked at me before?. As if Aurora sensed what was going through Paul's head, she squeezed his hand gently and gave him a reassuring smile which made him smile back at her.
The results are supposed be ready today and hopefully the court's case against Mr Smith was supposed to be dropped.
Unknown to Arianna and her friends someone was reporting every of their move to Mr Peterson.
What were they doing at the police station long after the lawyer was gone? Mr Peterson thought to himself. He picked his phone and called his aid to come see him in the house.
Paul woke up the next day agitated because the results were going to be tendered at the courthouse and it was going to determine who the true killer was and it's also going to give Arianna the closure she needs as she would know and be rest assured that the person behind the deaths of her parents was going to be locked up and made to face the full wrath of the law.
On getting to the courthouse Arianna saw Mr Peterson seated at the back roll. She began to wonder what he was doing there but thought he came only because he was a friend of the family and possibly her Father.
Though the possibility of him killing her parents was low but there was something about him that does not feel right.
The court clerk stood up and told them to arise because the judge was there.
As they all stood up the police officer quickly came and sat down beside her and began whispering in her ears.
What do you mean by that Arianna almost shouted but held herself together because of where she was and immediately her eyes caught that if Mr Peterson who gave her a smug smile as if knowing the information she just received.
