Chapter 103
At some point, I thought that we would lose our lives because that was how it typically seemed from the look of things. I had requested to see the Alpha but the man didn't oblige me. It was getting too bad as the leader looked me in the eyes and screamed that we would pay for coming into his own environment.
'What exactly is happening?" Laura said and I was grateful he didn't hear her. He was ruthless and wouldn't mind letting a cutlass through her head If he had heard her.
'Take them away." The leader screamed to his men who obeyed with no question. I had hoped that I could at least set my eyes on the Alpha and have a talk with him, hoping he would listen.
'What did we do?" Laura screamed as we were all bundled up.
The leader stared down at her and then laughed out very loudly. 'You don't get it? You think you'll win this situation with your weak screams and plans."
'We only want to meet the Alpha." Laura said again even when I was trying to tell her to shut her mouth.
'Well, you would get the opportunity to meet him, unfortunately. I think Lucas doesn't need so much army to fight you, you are so weak. All of you." He spat at us and turned his back on us.
'He was the one that asked you to kidnap us?"
'He asked that we kill you but it would be more fun when it is done tomorrow under the red moon." He said and signaled at his men to take us away..
They pushed us forward with our hands tied behind our back. We kept walking even with our weak legs. They didn't stop but kept pushing us down, then we went to a dimly lit cell which I believe was made for their prisoners. The place reeked of dirt, smoke and mold and the air was filled with the stench of suffering.
We were kept in that cell as they locked the door and left us to suffer. I couldn't breathe properly because the air was unhealthy. I quickly looked around to find a way that we could escape. There was nothing much of this cell room, at the center was a table and old books which I couldn't even bring myself to read because of how dusty it looked.
The walls were nothing to write home about and everything else looked as horrible as I could ever imagined. There was an old bed kept at a side which was fit to be slept on.
'We are not spending an hour in this place. We need to find a way to escape." I said hastily. Laura and Damien were still gazing at the environment and trying to figure out how a human could live here.
'There's nothing we can literally do." Damien said, falling back to the floor.
'You can't say that. We have to try at least."
'That's what you said before we got ourselves in this situation." Laura said feeling downcasted.
'Are you guys actually blaming me?" I asked, paused, then turned to Laura. 'What exactly were you doing out there, that bastard could have killed you." Anger welled up inside me.
'I'm sorry but that was all I could think about." Laura apologized immediately and it calmed me down. I didn't know how I was going to cope with them as I could see that they were losing hope.
'I'm sorry guys if I put you in this situation." I paused. I could now clearly see the danger that I had put my friends through. It was very unfair of me to be selfish like I was currently. 'I really apologize for everything that I have done. Please forgive me. I shouldn't have let you guys come with me. This was my responsibility and I should have handled it alone. Now, we are here because of my selfishness and carelessness."
'Remember, I decided to follow you? You never forced it on me." Laura said, approaching me. 'I followed you because I believe in this.." She didn't complete her sentences before giving me a hug.
She was still assuring me that we would get through this when Damien pointed at the mended space right above us."
'There's a window right above us." He said.
Laura and I gasped, then looked at each other thinking that Damien might have gone crazy.
'There's no window there, Damien."
'Don't look at me like I'm crazy." He said, then suddenly he took the little table I had seen and smashed it on the ground. I and Laura stood still staring at him doing his thing. Then he took the stick he got from the shattered table and hit it on the space. We still couldn't understand what he was doing until it began to make sense.
It was actually a window but they had covered it so that no one would know. They were afraid someone would run away.
'Well, you wanted to escape right?" Damien said, standing there like a hero. 'That's your route there."
'You're in?" I asked, hoping he would go with us too. He was the man of the group and was always so helpful.
'You didn't force me to join you so I guess I'm stuck with you guys." He said, frowning at us.
'I don't think you should be excited about running away." A voice from the other cabin spoke up. I couldn't see his face but I knew it was a male's voice judging from its deep baritone tone.
'Who are you?" Laura asked, quickly turning around to see who it was.
'It's no one important." The voice said
Suddenly we turned, the voice was coming from the same cell where we were. The room had been so dark at a particular corner that we didn't even notice that someone was in there.
'What do you mean? Who are you?" Damien went ahead to cover us, bringing out his sword.
'There's no need for that." The voice was as calm as ever. 'I'm just a captive like you so we are the same." He said again, still not revealing his face.
'Why did you say there's no need for us to escape? How long have you been here." I asked immediately. I was so interested in seeing his face, I just wanted to get the necessary information that I needed to move out of this God forsaken place.
'I have tried so many times to escape from this hole but I couldn't. I never made it out of this entrance because it was always guarded with so many warriors but to no avail." He said again.
