Chapter 122

We were all in our positions waiting for Lucas' attempt to attack us. We were all in our hiding place, no one saying a word or talking in whispers. It was finally time for me to see what I did for my community. 'Maybe we shouldn't have kept so quiet and hid like this." Laura asked, she had been waiting beside me at the tower where we were watching for any sound in the Bush outside the community. 'You think so?" I asked Laura. 'Yes. Maybe he now knows that we know that he was coming for us." Laura said. I was about to laugh but I remembered that if I did that I would blow our cover. We sat down there and waited some more. 'Maybe they're not coming like he said." I said while resting my back at the tower then I heard a sudden sound of a man crying with a loud voice. 'They're here." Suddenly, there was a loud sound of a trumpet. It was truly Lucas and his men as I viewed from where I was. 'What exactly is going on?" I asked, unable to process what was happening. 'It's Lucas and his men, he is the one using the trumpet, it seems he really wants everyone to know that he's finally attacking you." 'I'll make him pay for killing my father and threatening my life and the life of the people I loved." I didn't know what came over me but I jumped up in anger and shouted in a loud voice. 'Prepare your weapons." I could see that Lucas already had his men surrounding Shadowcrest. 'Give up now or you'll regret it." He announced. I was already tired of hearing his voice and didn't care to hear what he had to say. My eyes and heart were filled with fury and I responded with anger. I ordered the warriors to start shooting which was not in the plan at all. Daine, my mum and Luna Rachel were all surprised at that. Damien came to my side to calm me down, reminding me of our plan. 'Remember Lucas was supposed to attack first." He said and I signaled that they stopped shooting but then immediately, Lucas' gang started their own round of shooting. I had made sure to order the warriors not to have a close encounter with the men of Lucas so they obeyed and stayed within the built gate. The guns that were made did the shooting outside the wall and slowly but surely Lucas' men fell and died. At some point it seemed like the men were turning against him. 'What are you doing? What's happening?" His own men had turned against him and he had nothing he could do about it. 'What exactly is happening?" He kept screaming and screaming at them as they brought him forward. They all threw down their weapons and approached us carrying the already captured Lucas who seemed confused and was trying to free himself from their strong hold. 'What is happening?" I was asking and I came down the door of the tower. I was taken aback and Laura didn't seem to know what was happening too. Why did his own men have to turn him in? 'Let me go, you traitors." 'We were never going to fight you, my princess." The leader of the group responded as he bowed to me. 'Princess?"I gasped. 'It was all his idea." The leader pointed at Thorne who was standing at the corner like he didn't know what was happening. 'What is he talking about?" 'Naomi, when I left your group, it was because I was greedy and I greatly apologize for that but after that, I was going to apologize to you but I knew you weren't going to forgive me easily. Then I was already getting the trust of Mascot so through him, I knew most of the plans of Lucas. As he was Mobilizing warriors against you, I was also turning them against him but he knew nothing about it." He paused, looked at me then continued. 'Before I left, I already knew his plan to attack so I had to come warn you even though you would never accept me here again." 'So you knew that they were going to turn against him?" I asked him but then realized something worse than that. ', you were the one that asked them to turn against him so why didn't you say so in the beginning. Why didn't you say so?" I asked, anger Welling up in my stomach. 'You bastard." Lucas cursed under his breath but no one paid attention to him. 'I didn't know what they planned to do so I had to keep quiet but made sure you guys were ready for him, whenever he came." I didn't know if I should hug him or hate him the most but I knew the fact and that is, he had saved us already. 'We are finally free!" My mother screamed at the people and they rejoiced. 'Why didn't you kill my father?" I asked Lucas kneeling to face him, knowing that I would torture him if he didn't say a word. 'There's nothing to hide so I'll just spill it. Your father was once a good friend of mine but I asked him for a favor which was a simple thing but he refused so I had to take his life." 'What was that favor?" I asked, tears in my eyes. 'To give me his land but he refused me, why would he refuse me such a huge favor." 'What was so special about this land?" 'You don't know, really? You all are very dumb. There's Gold underneath this ground but it wouldn't open unless being dug by an Indigene of that family, that's why I needed you badly." 'You could have easily asked him for the Gold and he would have given it to you. He had such a good heart." Diane responded. 'Why? I wanted the whole damn gold to myself." Lucas screamed. It was time for him to be punished just like he had punished lots of people in the past, just like he had made people's lives miserable. Shadowcrest was going to be peaceful again like it was in the beginning. 'Let us celebrate!" We heard a scream loud from the crowd and everyone dispersed going to different corners for their celebration. The foreigners were also welcomed into our midst to rejoice with us because our enemy was finally gone.
