Chapter 101
Damien wasn't having it. He didn't believe me when I told him I had never loved anyone, partly because I didn't sound convincing enough and because he believed that people like me were lover girls.
I had left that discussion for another day because we were trying to figure out how to get on the horses.
'Okay. First thing first, let's get you on top of this horse." Damien exclaimed and went ahead to urge me.
As I stood in front of this towering creature, my legs felt like jelly. Then Damien helped me place my foot at the stirrup, then I swined my legs over the horse's back and then settled into the saddle.
'What do you think? Comfortable huh?"
'I'll tell you what I think when after being on this thing, I don't break my back." I responded.
'I know you won't." Damien responded. He was still standing so close holding the horses. Then slowly he led the horse as it went quietly with me still on it.
At first, I was too scared to open my eyes but then I got Comfortable on the horse's back as we went slowly and steadily.
'Are you ready to take the leap now? Damien asked me.
Laura was sorted and was watching the whole drama, laughing where necessary and encouraging me where necessary.
'No." I said without even thinking about it.
'Alright, I'll climb in with you." Damien replied and in second, he was with me on the same horse. I held his waist immediately and he climbed like someone in need of support.
'Hold on." He turned to me, smiled and rode quickly. I couldn't scream or say a word since I didn't want to sound like a weirdo.
As we began to move rapidly, the comfort I had once felt disappeared and the fear came back in 10 folds. Every bump sends my heart into a coma and makes me so aware of my environment.
'Don't try to think about the dangers. Enjoy the ride." Damien screamed to me since I wouldn't hear him if he had spoken silently.
'How can I enjoy a scary ride?" I asked. The truth was that I couldn't focus properly, not with all the bumps and turns.
'I think you should enjoy the ride.. like the wind on your face.. you know.. things like that." Damien suggested and I thought it was stupid for me to think about the wind when my life was literally in danger. Who does that?
I got calm and tried to listen to Damien. I stopped thinking about the horse and how dangerous it could be and started thinking about myself and the excitement and beautiful feelings I would get from this ride.
I was getting there as we rode the horse in circles, Damien still trying to help me out of my fear for horses. It was working because I didn't care what happened, I only thought about what I was enjoying and it truly made me happy.
'You're getting the hang of it." Laura said when we stopped the horse yo get a breath. I was breathing so fast that I had to drink water so much before I could regain my strength for the main journey.
'With these horses, how long would it take us to get to Blackwood?" Laura asked, standing with her own horse.
'With these horses, we'll surely get there before the sun falls." Damien answered, still catching his breath.
'You're so obsessed with that horse." I told Laura.
'Dora?" She laughed. 'She's such a good horse."
'You haven't even rode on it before." I said, still not understanding this newly found obsession.
'Well, I know. People like us know good horses even from afar." She said and I knew she was trying to attack. 'You'll learn about that, some day."
I looked at her with wonder, thinking about the day I would ever obsess about a horse. I knew that day would never come. I could learn how to ride well, have my own personal horse but never will I be this obsessed. Who names a horse?
'You're becoming crazy."
'It's all for my horse." She replied. 'Don't you see that it was meant to be special for me? She responded and kissed her head.
'How do you know it's a girl?" I asked, out of curiosity.
'You can just see it." She responded turning to
Damien to prove her right.
'I doubt she knows the gender of horses, I think she just felt that since it was white, it was a female." Damien responded.
'Anyway, my instinct doesn't lie. It has never lied to me and it won't start now." Laura said. Damien was right. Anyone who was a good observer would obviously know that the horse was a female, not that I knew though. The horse looked majestic in its white color, its eyes shining with warm feminine energy.
I don't know if it was me but it had this graceful movement and when it trots, it seemed like he was floating. I acknowledged the fact that it was indeed a beautiful horse.
'We should start leaving now so we'll get there before singalong,or hear that place is so dangerous at night. I wouldn't like to be kidnapped a second time." Laura said.
There was a little stream behind us where we went and refilled our bottles with water, afraid we might run out of water and options.
'We really need to be careful. That clan is bad news. Personally, I wouldn't want us to be there because the Alpha is exactly like Lucas. When I spoke with Alpha-king Magnus, he told me that he was classmates with the Alpha but Lucas was his own friend. He told how he doubted that the Alpha would be on his side." Damien explained and I wondered why he didn't say such for a long time.
'This is crazy. Is there a need to go to that park after all? Is that not us making our own death wish?" Laura was scared and I understood but we couldn't take chances. Blackwood was one of the parks that was big and had good warriors, we didn't need to assume they were on Lucas' side, we had to be sure so we wouldn't miss the opportunity of having a big clan with us.
'It is. I understand your fear, I'm also scared but we need to take this chance. No one actually knows if they are still on good terms. I think we should take this chance." I said, turning to Laura. 'Remember we are looking for your parents too so we shouldn't miss even the smallest park." I said, convincing them.
