Chapter 18
It's been a week since I had arrived at the Stormclaw clan and I was getting a hang of how things were done here.
I and Laura had become the best of friends and Mascot now spent more of his time with me. It was like we had a connection.
I was now a full member of the Stormclaw clan and I was glad about that. I met new friends and joined the hunting team. I also engaged in rituals that were held. I joined Laura and the other women at the training session where we learn to defend ourselves in case of emergency.
My next move was to find Geston, the wise man in the community. I still didn't want anyone finding out what I was up to so I needed to move in secret.
In the evenings I set out to the inner village where I heard he lived. The roads were twisted and unpredicted but I had to keep up because I had a goal.
One of those days I set out once again to find out where the man lived, I continued walking, trying to follow the instructions Laura had given to me. She had mentioned that I would see a big sculpted lion with a large mouth signifying that I was close to Geston's cave. I drank some water when I got to the river and waited for a minute to catch because I was exhausted. I had never come this far in my explorations so far.
At a point, I wondered if what Laura told me about Geston was true in any way. Does the guy actually exist? Or was it all a joke to see how I would react? I was about to give up when I saw a massive lion with its huge mouth open.
I was relieved and glad that I had finally made it. The coven was in a remote corner of the village, hidden from prying eyes. It was surrounded by trees like they were trying to protect it. It was like nothing I had ever seen. The environment itself seemed to respect and respond to the Coven's presence.
The trees protested while the leaves twisted and turned. The air was damp and moist that anyone would think it was winter. It was a sight to behold.
I was suddenly weak in my legs and couldn't walk any further but I urged myself. I thought of knocking before entering but I thought against it, after all this was just an old coven.
As I entered, I could feel a strong presence. The power of the wizard and his dark magic dominated the coven casting strong spirits into the land.
I walked in carefully like I was being watched. 'Hello." I got no response but I continued walking. The coven was dimly lit with a heavy scent of incense, mixed with the sharp tang of blood.
I was anxious but I had come too far to go back now. I kept turning my head, looking around and expecting the worst of anything that could happen.
Suddenly, there was a loud noise.
'Who dares enter my Coven?" A shaky voice asked.
'My name is Naomi." I answered, standing still but still turning my head to see who was speaking to me.
'Who are you?" The voice asked again and I wondered if whoever was talking was deaf.
'My name is Naomi, daughter of …" I mumbled the words but couldn't complete it.
'You don't know who you are?" The voice asked in a tormenting way. 'Is that why you are here? To find out who you are?"
'Yes." I turned my face to the right where I believed the voice was coming from.
'Sit." He ordered.
I was still looking for where I could sit when I saw him. He had tattered robes on, his face etched with deep lines of age, his eyes burning with fierce determination. In his hands, he clutched an old looking staff.
His gaze was fixed on me. 'Sit." He said again and this time, I could see a rug on the floor which I didn't see the first time. I carefully went over to the rug and sat down nervously. I was still very much alert even though I was tired.
His lips curled into a smirk as he said some incantations before sitting opposite me.
'What can I do for you?" He asked.
He was the opposite of what I had expected. The Wizards were meant to know the reason why werewolves came to them. I had doubts about this insane man I was staring at but I went with the flow.
'I need to know who I am and find out what destiny has for me." I said, nodding.
His smile disappeared suddenly and he jerked up. 'You want to know who your father is, your relatives?" He asked and I smiled.
This was more like it.
'Yes." I simply responded.
'Give me your hands." He stretched out his dirty looking hands to me and I put mine in his. He made some incantations with his eyes closed.
'Your father's name is Alpha Sapphire and he was the Alpha of the shadowcrest clan. He was killed by his enemy who took all his inheritance. You have no siblings or any relatives as all of them died that fateful day, your father was murdered." He stopped talking.
'Is that it?" I asked, in shock. 'Who was it that killed my father and took away his inheritance?" I asked believing that I already know who it was. Alpha-king Magnus!
'I'm sorry but it isn't who ever you are thinking of." He told me, breaking my heart.
'Is there something else I should know about my journey?" I asked him.
'Your journey to find revenge will be challenged by the path of love that would come to you soon." He revealed.
'Love? What do you mean?"
'I am no interested in falling in love or getting married." I blurted out, frowning..
'It doesn't matter what you want. It's only what the moon goddess wants that cones to pass."
'So the moon goddess wants me to leave my destiny in search of love? That's so ridiculous." I laughed, forgetting where I was.
'You dare mock the moon goddess?" He asked, angry.
'No. No. I'm sorry." I responded as I bowed my head.
'In order to reach your destiny, you must let your heart speak, you must go through the process of love. If not, your time will be wasted in the end."
I sat, wondering why love had to be a condition to finding my father inheritance and taking his place.
I mean, I believed in love but I didn't believe that it should be an obstacle to my goals. As different thoughts went through my mind, I decided to ask the Wizard about the lucid dream I had the other day.
