Chapter 95
The next morning, we woke up looking all dazed. The weather was cold and it was very difficult to wake up but then Duty and responsibilities called and we had to answer.
We had a quick preparation, just had our bath and with new clothes, we were ready to see the king and as I guessed rightly he was waiting for us in his throne room.
He had this sad look on his face and all I could think of was him rejecting our offer. I felt bad that we had come to this place with so much high expectations and we were leaving so suddenly with no good news.
We bowed before him and waited for him to say something but he asked us to sit.
'I have thought about your proposal and knowing that it could make things tedious for me, I still choose to help you." He said and I almost jumped up in excitement. 'Alpha-king Magnus was a close friend of mine and I'm going to help him now that he needs my help."
As my heart felt elated, I could only be grateful to Alpha-king Magnus for his help. The Alpha we talked to has willingly accepted to work with us because of him and I couldn't wait to thank him properly for his help.
I felt that Alpha-king Magnus was really in my life for these reasons. Alpha Alex of Moonlight Park assured us that he would send his warriors to us whenever we needed them.
'I feel so relieved, our journey was not in vain." Laura heaved a sigh of relief.
'Me too. I was almost so sure that he would refuse us but I'm grateful he didn't."
'Why do you think he'll refuse us?"
'Well, in the beginning, he was sounding like it." Laura agreed with me. Since our conversation last night, we have had a nice bond and I didn't feel weird speaking to her, anymore.
'Women!" He exclaimed, 'always feeling scared about unnecessary things."
I and Laura suddenly felt attacked and were ready for him. We nodded our heads to each other, knowing what our next action would be. Laura abruptly blocked his way and he had to stop, tuning back to see that I was at his back too.
'Is this an ambush?" He smiled.
'What did you just say about women?" Laura said to him and he responded with an exaggerated laugh.
'You think this is funny?" I furrowed my eyebrows at him in a funny way and that made him laugh the more.
'What exactly is this?" He asked, when he had caught his breath.
'I think we need to catch him and keep him as our captive." Laura suggested.
'Yes, let's capture him immediately." I said and immediately Damien took off as we ran after him. We kept running after him while screaming at the top of our voices.
'Capture him.."
It was fun to do that as we ran into the valley we had seen yesterday. It was finally time for us to rest and plan for the next journey which would take a lot from us.
'I'm sorry." Damien finally gave up, pleading for mercy. 'I'm sorry, forgive me. I won't do that again. Forgive me."
We all laughed as we settled on the sand while breathing heavily like our chest would fall out any minute from now.
We settled and talked for a while.
'Our next spot would be a far away park which I know we need horses for."
'Is it that far?" I asked. 'Do we really need horses for the journey?" I asked, a little agitated.
'Yes, of course." Damien asked, noticing how agitated I was. 'What's wrong?"
'Nothing." I answered.
'She can't ride a horse." Laura blurted out, making me look like a fool, then she went ahead to laugh at me.
'You can't?"
'No, I can't." I felt so embarrassed answering his questions while Laura laughed at me.
'We need horses for that journey so we could make it faster. You'll have the chance to learn when the time comes.
There, we sat under the shade and made plans for horses today because we would need them for this journey and also for the one coming up, too.
'Where can we buy horses?" I asked, hoping that somehow Damien would refuse and decide not to buy it but his mind was made up and understood that.
'There must be a clan here where we could buy horses to visit our next clan."
'You haven't actually told us the name of the park." Laura said, reminding Damien.
'The name of the park is Blackwood Park." He said, stuttering. For a minute, we all went blank. That was the park where mother had told me that black witches live and survive.
'Oh my God." I exclaimed and Laura sat down at the heap of sand behind her. We were all dumbfounded and didn't know exactly how to respond.
'Do not panic. I know you guys have heard so many scary stories about that park but trust me, it isn't as serious as you think." Damien tried to calm us down seeing the look on our faces.
'What exactly do you mean? Do you think we should go there?" Laura said. I didn't blame her, I was having doubts too.
'We have to. You guys know what we are after, so we really have to go there." Damien said. He was the brave one and the one that was always encouraging us no matter what. He was like God's sent and I was glad. I had met him and he had agreed to do this with me.
'Let's go for the horses first, then we leave for blackwood. Hopefully we won't get hired by any scary thing." I prayed.
We spent some time at the valley and had naps that would help us stay awake in the night because it was going to be a very long journey that would stretch our bones, according to Damien.
Before I slept off, my mind wondered how it would feel to ride a horse again after trying it with Thorne the last time. I thought about Thorne and wondered where he was and how he was. I wasn't supposed to care about him but I couldn't hide the fact that he was always there whether I wanted it or not. I couldn't just stop thinking about him. He had promised to teach me how to ride a horse and now, he was nowhere to be found.
It was too heartbreaking to acknowledge the fact that he chose his greed over me.
