Chapter 116
Chapter 116
'Stop!!" It was an intense order from a voice in the hut.
I suspected that the voice I heard was the one of the Wizard. His voice was like the earth on its own, trembling and confident at the same time.
'Secrets of the olds are not for the faint hearted." He said when we were now very close to his sanctuary. His words were like gentle breeze going through the veins. I was still trying to understand what he meant by what he had said earlier but I connected it to the reason why we were here, which was Laura's parents.
As I walked slowly behind everyone, it seemed like my heart was afraid of who it was going to meet but he came to sight and I could see his face clearly now. He looked like any other normal person just that he was dressed shabbily. His clothes which were once red in color had turned to a shabby pink, with a rope tied to his waist.
Immediately, he set his eyes on us, he started his incantation which sounded funny, then he burst out in laughter. His laughter was like lightning, starring our souls.
'You have come to find out about your parents." He said. He was sitting close to a pot of water on fire boiling ferociously. 'What do you want to know?"
I saw Alpha Logan nod to us in the sense that he was reminding us about how he had told us in the first place that the Wizard was a good one.
'Dear Wizard, we have come to.." he was still speaking but the wizard interrupted him.
'Let her who it concerns speak for herself." He ordered, then there was a sound of thunder as loud as an eruption. We all staggered to keep ourselves stable to the ground.
'I want to find out where they are and what they look like." Laura replied. Her whole body was literally shaking and she couldn't stop herself. The excitement and joy had all disappeared and now all I could see was fear in her eyes.
'Hmm." The Wizard responded, then laughed out loud again. 'What do you mean? Your parents are closer than you know."
'What?" Laura was visibly shaken. I could see that she was about to cry. 'Why.." her voice trailed off, but she continued. 'Why then don't they want me back."
'They do not know where you are."
'Can you tell me where I can find them, myself. I would really love to know so I can search for them. You see, I'm on a quest with my Friends and I believe that it would help me to look for them in this quest of mine.
'They're nothing I do not know, so I believe there's no need telling me." He said then paused. 'I know everything will be revealed to you, soon enough even when it's not expected."
'What do I do?" Laura was confused and wanted to know if there was any action she could take to help herself.
'Go on with your quest and you'll find what you're looking for." The Wizard simply said, nodding his head. He had not once looked back at us but had his back turned against us.
The instruction was not clear to me or to any of us. What did he mean by ‘Go on with your quest.' it was my quest and I didn't expect Laura to just go on with it when it was obvious that she was getting nothing in return from it. She had come for some information about her parents but was disappointed with what the wizard was saying. Even Alpha Logan was confused as he kept wondering what was happening.
I looked at the Wizard again and from what I could see, he looked quite younger than I imagined. What if this was a plan or set up to capture us?
'Your friend is worried and she thinks we might be fooling you three. I want her to come forward." When he first spoke about me, I had no other choice but to go forward to hear what he had to say. I was already losing interest in what he was going to say.
'You think I'm fake?" I asked.
'No. I don't think that." I said confidently. I was getting to the point where I just wanted to leave and not come back but for the sake of Laura, I decided that I wouldn't make a rash decision.
'Anyway, this quest will turn out very unexpected for you. So I urge you not to give up."
'Unexpected in what way?" I asked. I knew what unexpected meant but I wanted to know exactly the details. I have been surprised so much by Lucas that all I could think about was him pulling another wicked stunt on me.
'This time around, it's not about Lucas. Lucas is not in this picture right now."
'Then what are you talking about?" This was one of the reasons I hated visiting wizards. It seemed like they had trained them all to think in a certain way. The fact that they always waited to be asked questions or always wanted to keep one in suspense made me upset most times.
'It's about your friend, right there." He said and I turned to look at Laura. 'You both are more connected than you know. There's so much you have in common but we'll show in due time."
'We are good friends and we have so much in common." I responded.
'That's not what I meant but you're allowed to think that way." He said again and we stood there in confusion.
'You don't have to be confused. I want you both to be strong in this fight together because you'll surely face lots of obstacles on the way."
That was the only thing I understood perfectly from everything he had said. From what he said, I believe more challenges were coming our way and the only way out was to stand together and never let go of each other at those hard times.
'Be strong, Laura. You'll soon find what you're looking for but don't let it consume you." He paused, took a deep breath. 'And to your friend, you'll finally meet a long lost friend, make sure you do the right thing."
The more he spoke, the more I wondered what he had in mind. A long lost friend? Who was that? I didn't exactly have so many friends and it was only natural for me to know who he was speaking about.
