Chapter 96

I was the last one to wake up from the nap we had since I slept late with a lot on my mind. 'You guys should have woken me, I kept you guys waiting." I said to them when i was fully awake. 'We didn't want to disturb you so we let you rest." Damien replied, packing up. We still haven't decided where we were going and how we would get there. 'Where exactly are we to find horses?" I asked, walking with my full back pack. 'Well, we'll have to walk there, be ready." Damien prepared our kind and we set out immediately. It was a tiring one but we kept going. The sun was so hot that even the canopy of the trees weren't helping in any way. The air was filled with a sweet scent and that got me going. I heard distant chatter of birds on the trees which in some weird way helped calm my nerves. 'What exactly are we going?" I asked because I could feel some pain in my legs. 'Well get there soon." Damien said and I didn't believe him, I thought that he must have been saying to comfort me. Then, we got to a little field where we saw different animals. I saw cattle, sheep and then there was also a stand for horses. 'They sell these animals here?" Laura asked, quite shocked as I was. 'Yes, they do." Damien responded. 'I come here most times to buy these horses for the clan whenever we needed them. 'Hopefully they aren't so expensive." I really hoped they were too expensive so that we wouldn't buy one just because of my fear of them but I accepted the fact that we had a long way to go so we needed them. Damien took the led and bought the horses. He bought 2 since I couldn't ride one on my own. 'I'll teach you how to ride a horse but as you learn, you'll ride with Laura in the same horse. If you concentrate, you'll learn fast enough." Damien said and because of that I was determined to learn. I didn't know that horses should be tried out when brought. Everything that was happening in my presence seemed weird to me bit Laura could relate to everything. Damien tried the horses and said that the first one was strong but the second one would die if used so many times. I marveled as he talked about these things. How do a person know about horses? 'He'll be done as soon as possible." Laura whispered to me seeing my astonished look, thinking that I was tired and was maybe wanted to go home. I nodded in response and smiled at her. Ever since, we had that conversation, we've been talking very well lately and it has been really nice to have her back into my life. Did I still doubt her? I still couldn't answer that question but I didn't let it bother me, in anyway. I was living in the moment and she was doing same too. We have been sharing things lately and I haven't had to worry if the food was poisoned or not as I would have thought. I just loved her and I knew she reciprocated the love. This was just me letting it all go. I was once again trusting her. As we walked into the forest with our horses, it seemed like it was a signal for the scorching sun to appear. We walked tirelessly that I begin to wonder what the need of the horses were if not to help lighten our journey and make it easier for us. 'Maybe we should actually ride this horse." I suggested feeling tired and very thirsty. Then, suddenly from our back as we ventured deeper into the forest, warriors emerged from the forest as their faces were painted with red paints. Suddenly, they surround us with their weapons at the go. 'Who are you?" Damien asked turning around sharply. 'That should be my question to you." The warriors wealth the red eye asked. They were all huge and had outstanding muscles. 'Stand still." They're ordered us and we dared not make even a move. I was really scared and wondered where they came from. 'I'll need those horses and your valuables." The one eyed man stated and that was when I realised that they weren't warriors but thieves. My eyes went ahead to count them and they were 5 in numbers. They took us to a jude out very close from where they captured us. I suspect that they had been watching us and waiting for the right time to strike because I remember us passing this particular road on our way to buy the horses. As our hands were tired with ropes, we only communicated with our eyes because we didn't want them to hear us. Damien became down spirited when he found out that they were going to take the horses. As they whispered, I could hear them clearly. They planned to take our valuables and the horses to. We were being robbed and there was nothingbwe could do. Laura glanced at me but I couldn't understand what her expression was saying to me. They had already taken our foods, swords, valuables including my mother's watch and they stood planning on running away with those things before sun down. The thieves weren't very clever as they all argued on how to share the money they had stolen but still couldn't get to find a way to share their new stolen possession. The one eyed thief tried to sound possessive and authoritative but he wasn't doing a good job. From the way they moved and shiverd, anyone would notice that they were beginners in this kind of stuff and that this must be their first try. They left us at the back and all sat in front of us, discussing and laughing loudly, the leader turning back once in a while to see that his captives were still there. I spoke to Laura slowly of my plan of escape from here. 'I'm my bag, there's this fruit I pocked which I believe helps to put people to sleep, I need yo get them to make a juice from that fruit." 'How can we do that? Will they listen to you?" 'We have to try at least." I said, becoming agitated. They had ransacked our bags and I could see fruit right in front of me, I only needed them to make a juice and drink it and they would all fall to deep slumber.
