Chapter 16

'Naomi, wake up. Wake up." I heard a familiar voice calling out to me. I yarned and stretched but still didn't get up. 'Naomi, wake up. Wake up." The voice said again. I opened my eyes and for the few first seconds I thought I would open my eyes to my beautiful room at the Palace where I was served breakfast by 7 am. 'Where's this place?" I asked immediately I saw the tattered roof and the small bed where I had slept. In that moment, everything that happened yesterday played out in my head. 'Oh." I said in realization. Then, I looked up to see Laura. 'Good morning." I greeted her. 'Good morning, Naomi. You are late. Wake up and prepare to meet the Alpha. You can't keep the Alpha waiting." She reied me in a haste. I stumbled as I was in a haste to stand. I had overslept because I was so tired yesterday. 'Where can I shower?" I asked Laura. 'I don't think you have the time to do that. You have no time take a bath. Put on some nice clothes and be on your way." It was weird for me. I had never left my room at the Palace without taking a shower. 'Take these clothes, put them on and be on your way." She gave me some clothes. I accepted them but when I looked at them, I wondered whose clothes these were. These didn't look like they were clothes one wore when they meant to see the Alpha. At the Palace, we always dressed in our best clothes whenever we wanted to see the Alpha-King. 'Put them on." Laura urged me. She must have noticed how I stared at the clothes like they smelled bad. 'Okay." I responded and did that quickly. She took me to the King's chambers where I waited impatiently. Then I saw Mascot arrive too. 'You're late." He frowned at me. 'I'm sorry, I didn't wake up on time." I shivered hoping he wouldn't scold me. After all, I didn't want to get on his bad side. 'Insolent." He fired at me. My brow furrowed and I wondered if he was upset with me in anyway. I didn't want to think about it. After all, if I wasn't accepted into the clan then I'll leave and that would be the end of it. We won't see each other again. 'You're here." I heard a voice behind and I turned quietly. It was the Alpha, I could see him clearly this time around. The Alpha walked with strong, confident steps which exude strength and Royalty. He went to his throne which had been prepared for him which was surrounded by eight elderly men. 'Sit." He offered and pointed at a seat and I did as he ordered. 'I know you must be worried that I wanted to see you today." 'Yes, my King. I'm glad you accepted me, fed me and sheltered me even for a night. I'm grateful." 'Well, I'm happy I did that because revival has finally come to our clan." He said happily. The elders who sat around him nodded and smiled too. I was lost and confused and so did Mascot look when I glanced at him. 'What is wrong?" 'You were accepted by the moon goddess." 'What?" I exclaimed. 'The moon goddess?" 'What does that mean?" 'It means you can stay here with us. This is your new home." He offered. Mascot looked gloomy when he heard that but I didn't know what they meant. What had the moon goddess have to do with anything being said here? 'You are actually the saviour." 'Saviour? How? What are you talking about?" 'You are going to be a big asset to this Clan so we hereby welcome you." I actually didn't know what they meant when they called the moon goddess but I was glad that I had a place to stay. This was where I would start my search. 'Mascot, take her to her room. Make sure she is very comfortable 'Why are you here?" Mascot asked me when we were going to the room they had prepared for me. 'I don't understand. what do you mean?" 'I met you in the forest and now, you're here comfortably going to be living here. What's with you?" 'I'm sorry, I think you're not happy with me but I'm really in need of help and I'm glad the King is going to help me." I said to him as we continued walking. 'Thank you for saving me. I'm really grateful to you." He didn't say anything as we walked away. 'How did you find me?" I asked him, curious to know how. 'The distance between this place and the forest is a lot, so I wondered how you found me." 'I really don't know but I had a nudge in my heart to follow that path and I ended up seeing you." He explained. 'Really?" 'I believe it was all in the plan of the moon goddess." He said. 'It can't be." I said but then I remembered that I had made a little prayer to the moon goddess even though I didn't believe her. 'Was it really her? Did she save me?" I wondered out loud. 'Did something happen?" 'I actually don't believe in the moon goddess.." I was speaking but stopped when I saw the shock on Mascots face. 'What?" He asked but didn't wait for my reply. 'Well, here we believe in her and everything about her. Come on, inside." He led me to my room. 'Thank you." I said when he opened the door. 'This is where you'll be staying from now on. If you need any help, you can call on me." 'What about Laura? Would I be seeing her?" I asked him. 'Of course, you will. I think you should get some rest, after all you'll be staying here here with us. By tomorrow, you'll get all the information you need to know about living here." 'Thank you." I honestly said to Mascot snd for a moment, he stared at me. He didn't show it but he was glad to have met me too. 'I wish you and Laura a blissful life." I randomly said and he nodded. 'I'll be going, now. I have some meetings to attend to." He said to me and left. I looked around my room and I was glad that at least I got a good room, better than most rooms here. I missed my room in the Palace but I was never going back, not now, not ever.
