Chapter 106
Everywhere got quiet when Damien uttered those words.
The Alpha suddenly stopped and turned back to us. 'What did you just say?"
'I said that if you give us a try and she wasn't able to heal your mother, you can have our heads on a tray even before Tomorrow." Damien repeated boldly.
'Interesting." The Alpha nodded and signaled the warriors to let us go. 'I'll do as you wished. This should be fun." He said and sat on his throne.
'There's something else." Damien screamed.
'Are you giving up so soon?" The Alpha laughed with great pleasure even though he looked stressed.
'If she isn't able to heal your mother, then you'll have our heads but if she can do that, then we'll have your support against Lucas in this fight." Damien stood his ground.
'If my mother gets healed by you, I could give you half of my life and it's a lot." He answered. 'Bring her in."
I was shaking literally when Damien turned to me. He saw the fear in my eyes and comforted me.
'I know you can do this." He told me, gently pushing me to let go of the fears. 'I believe you can."
'What if it doesn't work? You know I have to prepare the Healing oil on my own, what if I can't do it?" I asked him anxiously.
'You can." Laura said and I turned to her. It was so obvious that she was visibly shaken with what Damien said but she didn't want to appear afraid for my sake but I could see through her. 'You can. Don't be afraid."
She was still speaking when the grand door of the Palace opened and four warriors entered carrying a litter and on the litter was a woman who seemed to be in her late fifties. He black hair was messy and her eyes fixed upwards staring at nothing in particular.
The warriors walked in slowly and steadily afraid that any quick step would cause serious complications for their Luna. I took a step backward as they brought them forward but I noticed a hand on my shoulder and it was Damien urging me to move forward. I took a deep breath and took that step forward, then another one.
I needed to take a look at the woman to see exactly what the problem was. Immediately I took 2 steps further, I could perceive a strong stench in her body. It took me a few seconds to gather enough courage to face her.
'You see that. You can't even go close to her. I hope you can heal her like you said you will." The Alpha commented from his throne. He on his own had his nose covered as the whole air in the Palace had been contaminated with her odor.
I went closer and I could see a big boil on her face and body. I had never encountered this kind of sickness ever since I started making the healing oil. As I walked over her and observed, a part of me wished Diane was here with me, she would know what kind of sickness this was.
'What's this called?" I asked, quietly.
'You tell me, you are the healer, aren't you?"
'I'm afraid, I'll need to go and get some things I would use for the preparation of the healing oil." I said, turning to the king.
He chuckled. He didn't believe that I could heal his mother but he let me do my thing. 'Are you tired already? You want to run away this time?" He asked me, not giving me time to respond to his questions.
'I'm not running away. I need to prepare the oil.."
'I'll send someone to go get it for you.. I can't.." He was still speaking when I had to interrupt him.
'I'll go on my own, only I know what I need." I said, still trying to sound polite. I could see the shock on his face when I interrupted him but he said nothing but only to signal his warriors.
'Go with her, make sure she doesn't escape. Her friends will stay here with me." He then turned to me. ' If in a few minutes you aren't back, your friends will die." He ordered and I got his message.
I went with them having no objection since the lives of my friends were in line already. They led me to the garden behind the Palace where I picked out some herbal leaves I believed could help.
As I went around trying to identify the leaves, my mind went back to Shadowcrest when I spent so much time with Diane and she would teach me all I needed to know about making herbal fruits and using them as drugs. I could remember there was a case once like the one in the Palace but not very similar.
She had used sage and Kava for that illness. I was shocked at how the illness disappeared instantly. It was like Magic even though I didn't believe in magic. I could remember the words she told me.
'Naomi, you're born for this, don't have any disbelief in what you can do. You are Unstoppable."
She had always encouraged me to believe in myself. She said that it was only when there's doubt that someone would give up and then get it all wrong. I took a deep breath because this was an actual big deal for me but I encouraged myself knowing that I had come this far to just give up.
I picked out the leaves and was led back inside by the warriors who surrounded me from every side. There was no way I was ever going to abandon my friends even if I was left alone by these warriors.
'Here." The Alpha said when I entered. 'You didn't run away." He was talking too much and I understood. He was anxious just like everyone else in this room. His mother has been sick for a while now and he has lost hope of healing her so he didn't want his heart to start rejoicing when there was yet no proof of healing.
I sat down close to her and said a short prayer as Diane would. The prayer I said wasn't even really about the sick woman but I hoped that whoever answers prayers would hear this one time.
I picked out the good part of the leaves as I made a paste of the mixture. I tried to avoid looking at Luna's body, afraid I would vomit if I did.
