Chapter 24
I felt glad about Laura and Mascot. Whatever I felt I had noticed about Mascot was all a lie now.
He had a fiancee he would never cheat on.
I went into my chambers to have some rest. It was indeed a hectic day and I was so exhausted. My back ached but I could only take medications.
At this point, I wondered where the love ofmy life was. After all, Laura and Mascot were my age mates and they found love. Why could I not find mine?
I let it go because it wasn't in my agenda to find love here. I didn't leave ice crest pack for this place just to find love. If I had wanted to get married, I would have done that with Lucas.
I occasionally thought about Lucas and the offer he made to me. That man wanted to marry me because of what he would gain from me. It was totally embarrassing but I learnt it the hard way and I hope life was being unfair to him.
I laid down on my bed as I reminisced about what had happened today. Was it all my destiny. Was I meant to have met Chad? It wasn't mere coincidence, was it?
I thought about Diane. She looked like a decent person who couldn't tell a lie. Should I trust her?
'She stayed even after other left." I told myself as I saw more reasons to trust her. She worked with my father so she would work with me too. The glory of the Storm-Claw clan was long gone but I had to bring it back.
I was confused.
I found my father's clan, the one I had been looking for, a long time ago. Now, that I had found it, I wondered if it was right for me to go there and forget about this place or stay here.
There was more I needed to do at Stormclaw clan. I still needed to find my father's real killers, I needed to grow back my father's clan so it could go back to what it was, years back. The most powerful clan ever.
'Should I speak to the Alpha?" I wondered.
They had accepted me even when no one else did so I couldn't repay them by just leaving. I needed to take some deep breaths since my head was spinning already.
I followed the short path to the river. That was my solace. I could literally sleep here for days and still not feel like going home. When I got close, the amazing smell of the Ocean hit me.
Was that the river or something else? I wondered what could have such heavenly scent. It was coming from close by but I couldn't place exactly where.
My wolf growl and started following the scent. 'Calm down." I told it but it didn't seem to understand me. I ran for about few minutes, finally getting to the ocean, panting.
'Where is it? Where?" My wold growled again.
'Where is what?"
'That scent? Where is it coming from?" My wolf jumped and down in excitement within me.
'I don't know." I turn around, endlessly but still nothing. Suddenly, It hit me. I could now place where the smell was coming from.
The tree behind the ocean. I went slowly and tracked the scent quietly to find a man sitting on the sand and drinking a bottle of orange juice. I was about to get uninterested but my wolf went into a frenzy.
'Mate! Mate!" It screamed.
The young man must have noticed the way I kept staring at him and had to ask me if there was a problem.
'No." I swallowed my saliva. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was the same man, the one I had seen in my imagination, the one Laura had told me about and I ignored her.
'Yh. Hello." I waved at him while he watched me with keen interest.
It was a very weird thing to do. Waving at a stranger. He wasn't a stranger though, according to my wolf, he was my mate.
Was this the love Geston talked about?
I wanted to speak to him but I couldn't. I just stood there trying to mumble greetings to him.
'My name is Thorne, what's yours?" He asked, stretching out his toned, well framed arm.
His baritone voice made me internally giggle and the fact that he wasn't wearing a shirt weakened my body and legs.
'I'm Naomi." I answered and stayed mute again.
'Have some orange juice." He invited me to sit with him and I did.
How would I have refused?
'You look shocked, puzzled when you saw me. Did something happen?" He asked, taking his orange juice which was about to finish.
I watched his lips and I could imagine how soft they were. It was incredibly uncomfortable that I was watching him so intently but it was soothing for me.
'You've been staring. You know, right?" He finally spilled the milk.
'I'm sorry." I chuckled. 'You're just do good to look at."
I noticed that he blushed. 'I am?"
I nodded and drank my juice without saying another word. The cold breeze was so soothing and I was glad that I came out.
'Do you live here?" He asked me.
'Yes. I do."
'How is it that this is my first time of seeing you?"
'Actually, I'm new here."
'Oh. You're the special lady." He nodded.
'Special?"
'That's what everyone is saying and I think I agree with them now."
I literally poured away my drink hearing him compliment me like that.
'So where did you come from?" He asked and suddenly I became uncomfortable. I didn't like sharing stories from my past because I couldn't trust anybody.
'Are you okay?" He touched my shoulder and I feel a tingling feeling up my arm and into my face. Why did he have so much effect on me?
'I'm from ice crest clan. I was raised there." I said purposely leaving the fact about me being forcefully taken away from my father's land. I had to be careful with the information I shared with people.
I didn't even know who I could trust, not even my mate.
