Chapter 110

The Alpha looked at me with pity in his eyes. 'I'm sorry that it all had to end this way and also because I had already planned to put your life in danger without even finding out why. I'm very sorry, I promise you won't have to worry about anyone from Blackwood being against you." 'So you are telling me that you'll stand up against Lucas?" 'Of course. I'll do so." I watched him swear with his life while his mother nodded and assured me with a smile. I took permission to leave so I could go talk to Laura and Damien. When I got outside the Palace, I saw Damien standing at a corner at the pole. 'Hey there." I touched him and he came back from dream land. 'What are you thinking about?" I asked him hoping he wouldn't regret that we had ever gone on this journey. 'You know when the Alpha in there said something about death, it got me thinking how I didn't want to die and how if I had died, my sister wouldn't have coped with it. She would have cried herself to death, I just realized that I'm not doing this for myself alone but for my family. 'I'm sorry." I said, my head bowed. It was going to be hard to let Damien go because he had been a lot of help to me but I would never keep someone against their wish. I was not the kind of person to ignore a person's feelings just because of my selfishness. 'What are you saying?" 'I mean when you leave, I won't get upset with you. I truly understand that you're going because of your sister. Thank you for.." I was still sober and getting in the mood to cry as I said those words when Damien burst out laughing. 'What are you doing? You're telling me goodbye and what's with your face? It looks like you're about to cry." 'That's because I was. We were having a moment.. aren't you leaving?" 'Leaving where exactly?" 'I thought that everything you said meant that you were leaving." Damien chuckled. 'No. I think you should go check on Laura, I felt it would be better if you talk to her, yourself." He said and smiled at me. I couldn't contain my happiness so I hugged him and ran towards Laura searching for her with my eyes. I knew she loved flowers and my guess was that she'd be suited among them in the Palace garden where we passed through to get to the Palace. I had never seen Laura shed tears but she had feelings and got emotional easily. Whatever that happened in that Palace got us all speechless and confused, so I understand why she had to run out of the Palace. 'I know I will find you here." I said when I finally found her sitting amidst tall flowers. 'Don't worry about me, I'm good." She smiled at me when I came to sit next to her on the bare floor. For some seconds we sat with our eyes to the sky and stared at the stars. It took me back to memory lane when the girls and I would lie down on the field on a beautiful moon day and we would name the stars one by one and tell stories about them. It was so fun to do that with my siblings. That was the best part of our night and most times, we would fall asleep in the fields when counting and naming the stars then the maids would take us to bed. I once heard one of the maids complaining of how heavy I was and she wouldn't like to carry me anymore. O turned to glance at Laura thinking of how to start. 'You know." She looked at me. 'You don't have to say anything at all." I understood her but I wanted to say something to her, I wanted her to feel better. 'Do you regret coming this far with me?" 'No." She simply said. 'I have said it times without number that if I wanted to leave, you wouldn't stop me so I choose to stay with you in this Journey even if it's to prove to you that you could still trust me." 'Come on, we have passed that level. You don't have to prove anything to me. We are cool." I answered. 'I don't feel bad really about what the Alpha said but the instant thought I had about it was about my family. I don't know any of them, I don't know if they are dead or alive or if they still want me or if they have really forgotten about me. I'm so confused about them and everything surrounding their disappearance. I would really like to experience love from my parents even if it was once." She told me. 'You will." I told her. 'I don't think so. How can that ever happen? I don't even know who they are or where they are. I feel so horrible knowing that they might be out there but making no move to find me." 'You never really know. They might be searching everywhere but haven't found you." Laura nodded at me. I honestly thought it was time for me to pay her back for helping me all this while. Friends like her are rare and had to come by. 'I have an idea." I announced it to her and I could see the light in her eyes light up. 'I'm going to talk to the Aloha to help us find your parents." Suddenly, the light in her eyes went off. 'I doubt if that's a good idea." She said, 'It is. Remember he asked to mention whatever we wanted and he'll do it. I think we should use this opportunity knowing that finding your parents on our own would be difficult but with his help, we are covered. I made her understand why we needed an extra hand in finding her parents. 'But how would he do that when he doesn't even know them or have ever seen them?" Laura was both worried and concerned. 'He's the Alpha, he'll find a way obviously. Don't worry about it, okay?" I brought her in for a hug. 'Everything will be fine and you'll get to meet your family. I promise you." I made that promise and I hoped to keep to it. Laura deserved love and I was going to make sure she experienced it. I nudged her to stand so we could go find Damien.
