Chapter 89: A Deadly Decision
CALEB.
After I dropped Helena's call, I stared at my phone for around five minutes, just thinking.
When I heard her voice initially, I wanted to tell her that calling her was an accident, but deep down, it wasn't. I was tired of this back and forth game, and all I wanted now was to respect her decision.
I hurt her, so losing her was the punishment. She had her own life to live without having to think about me, or anything my presence would bring. She deserved better than me. So much better. As long as she'd be happy, I didn't have a problem.
'Dude, that was crazy bold." I heard Kyle behind me. He was carrying a boatload of snacks, with a mouth full of hotdogs.
'And you're crazy hungry. You can't eat all that on the plane." He'll get airsick, and fast.
'You don't tell me what I can and can't do. Besides, I haven't had churros in forever. And this guy makes them perfectly!" He waved a cup of churros in the air with a childish look.
The announcement for us to start boarding rang through the airport, and I and Kyle made our way towards the gate for our boarding passes to be checked.
We stood for around 5 minutes, the line moving faster than I anticipated. We were flying first class, so it wasn't too much of a surprise.
'Let me go you numbskull!!" I heard a familiar voice yell behind me. I turned around, trying to find the source. I caught sight of her almost immediately.
Brown hair, hazel eyes, and a fiery character that made even men fear her. Cynthia was struggling with two huge men trying to lift her off the ground. I raised my brows. Cynthia was probably around 140 pounds, and these men looked like they could lift 500. There were two of them, yet they couldn't move her.
She fascinated me.
Security officers rushed to the scene almost immediately, and hell broke loose.
One of the men knocked down the officers with just a swerve of his arm. The distraction made Cynthia lose her guard, and the other one lifted her up with ease, carrying her on his shoulder. He started moving towards the exit.
The first guy was fending off the remaining officers that tried to get hold of the situation. The airport hall went silent as they chased on.
One of the men pulled out a gun, shooting into the air. Everyone went on their knees, and the officers pulled out their own guns to return fire if they shot at them.
'That's just stupid." I muttered, leaving the line and walking towards them. Kyle called me from behind, cursing me to come back to the line.
'You guys have been very, very bad boys." I said, clapping slowly as I walked towards them. The first guy fighting the officers turned towards me, gun in the air.
'Put it away." I said, shooting him a cold glare. He scoffed, cocking the gun.
The second guy, the one who was carrying Cynthia, noticed what happened and turned around, giving Cynthia leverage.
She kicked him in the nuts and jumped off, running to my side.
'You are a trouble magnet." I whispered as she got close.
'And you just happen to always be there." She whispered back.
The two men circled us, each with a weapon.
'The girl is ours. Stay out of our business."
'I have nothing to offer you!" Cynthia spat, fuming with rage. I wondered how she contained all that energy in that tiny frame.
The first guy laughed, and I noticed a piercing on his tongue. 'Tell that to the boss." He muttered before lunging at her. I blocked him, a sharp punch connecting with his jaw. He stumbled back, momentarily dazed.
The second guy, still mute, walked slowly towards me. He kept his gaze on mine, and placed the barrel of the gun on my forehead. He cocked the gun.
Whispers and echoes of fear filled the terminal. I moved a step away from the gun, glancing at the other dude. He was still dazed. Cynthia's back touched mine, and I realized she had a gun strapped to her belt. I smirked, tapping it three times.
She got the message.
Both of us turned around at the same time, pulling out our guns. I always carried a gun around, especially for situations like this.
The man who pointed the gun at me was shocked, so momentarily that it gave me a chance to knock his gun out of his hands. Cynthia went for the other guy, dropping him in an instant. She was so light on her feet.
The fight that ensued between the four of us consisted of a series of grunts, groans, punches, kicks, occasional falling to the floor, and curses.
By the time more security operatives showed up, we were done with the two hulks. They lay on the floor, groaning in pain.
'Next time pick on a woman your own size." I said, walking away as they got apprehended.
'I would actually love to watch that." Cynthia remarked, slightly out of breath. I smirked.
I glanced at the line where Kyle and I stood, and realized that they hadn't moved since. Kyle was blocking anyone else from moving, even with the security men trying to get him out of the way.
Well, he is a werewolf.
'Here. And thank you. Again." Cynthia shoved a piece of paper in my hands and walked off.
She disappeared within seconds. How the hell does she do that?
I walked quickly to our line, apologizing on Kyle's behalf.
'Why the hell did you do that?" I scolded as soon as we got in. The woman at the checkpoint gave us an annoyed look, took our boarding passes, and ushered us through the gate.
'Because you went to save your princess. Besides, why would I board a plane without you? Want me to get lost again?" He kept his head like a 10 year old whose mom had offended him.
'You're a big baby. Ever heard of that?" I said jokingly as we sat on our seats. He plopped down beside me, and began munching on his snacks.
'I will relish in the beauty of that nickname forever." He said in an ancient English accent.
I turned away from him, looking out the window as we took off.
I may probably never return to this town, but I loved all that happened during my time here.
My hands brushed against the piece of paper Cynthia had given me. I opened it up. It was her cell number, with the caption, 'Call me."
I folded it neatly, placing it in my pocket.
Let's see how this goes.
