Chapter 92: Revenge on Wrong Target
CALEB.
The three of us sat in Dr. Flora's office, waiting for her to speak. The office was cold, dark.
Dr. Flora just sat behind her desk, flipping through a few files.
'Flora. We didn't come to spend all day." I snapped, tired of the deafening silence. She glanced up at me, meeting my glare.
She exhaled. 'Well, I was just looking at some reports concerning what I have to tell you, but whatever you say." She carefully placed the files back in her desk.
She crossed her fingers, resting them on the desk.
'Last week we found something. Well, more like I found something. An energy source. It seemed harmless at first because it had zero effects on humans, but I tested it on some of the werewolf samples I have." She glanced at Kyle, who kept a stoic face. She took a test tube, which contained a green substance.
'Kyle, can you get up for me?" She asked, walking towards him. Kyle stared at her briefly, rolled his eyes, and got up. She strapped his arm, and pierced a needle into the vein on his elbow. He flinched. 'What are you doing?"
'I'm going to inject you with it. Don't worry, it won't last long. I'll give you a tiny dose."
'What are you giving him?" I growled. I had had enough of unsolicited dosages of any substance. I trusted Dr. Flora to an extent, but even such trust wavers. Kyle was my brother.
'You'll see." She said simply.
I glanced at Brielle, who glanced at me with the same expression. Kyle shut his eyes, while the greenish liquid seeped into his system. It was only around 10 ml, but the effects showed almost immediately.
Kyle grunted slightly, and shoved her off. The room seemed to shake slightly, and Kyle shifted forms momentarily, and his fur turned white.
Dr. Flora stared at him with a hardened expression. Kyle groaned, twisting and turning. His eyes glowed bright red, making him look dangerous. Brielle jumped. 'That's exactly how Michael's eyes glowed before he attacked me. He-"
Kyle jumped on Brielle, snarling. She shrieked, covering her chest and face instinctively. Dr. Flora gasped, backing towards the door. My headache was splitting. I pulled her back. 'Sit the fuck down." I growled. I stared at her coldly, threatening her with my gaze. She shivered slightly,
Kyle had morphed fully, but he looked different. A bit more…monster like. Like he was someone completely different. 'Kyle!" I yelled. 'Stop!" He didn't listen. He picked Brielle up, and tossed her on the wall. He roared again. The building began to shake.
This was bad. Very bad. Like could get us into premium trouble bad.
He had already given Brielle a few scratches on her arm, and she was sobbing silently.
Oh fuck.
What do I do?
I grunted, and tried to push Kyle off her. He paused, and turned towards me, mouth full of foam. He looked hungry, ready to pounce. He roared, coating me with saliva.
This would be a lot harder than I thought. I grabbed the surgical scissors on the table, and tried shoving it into his arm, but the scissors bounced back, flying into the wall.
'Oh no." Dr. Flora muttered.
I snapped my head at her. 'You can do a lot more than just sit there acting like an old lady. Fucking tell me what to do!" I yelled, blocking my face from his teeth. He looked like he'd been hypnotized, as if he wasn't conscious of his environment and the only thing on his mind was to kill.
'I…I didn't think it would escalate like this. But it is fascinating. I must document…."
I was so tempted to smack her across the face. We were in the middle of a fucking dilemma and she was talking about documentation?
'I'm sure you wouldn't want a slow and painful death. If you value your life, you'd give me a fucking hand." I grunted, using the sack of sand on the floor to wedge between me and Kyle. She blinked and got up, searching through her 'files." She knocked over a glass jug, and it fell to the floor, shattering. Kyle looked at her, and took two quick strides. He clawed at her, and she crashed into the shelf on the right side of the room. Brielle had recovered from her trembles, and got up, rushing to her bag.
Kyle paused, and turned towards her, as if conscious of what she had in mind, and clawed at her bag. As expected, the silver knife flew out, and got tossed underneath the bed. 'Shit." She cursed, reaching for the knife. I jumped on Kyle's back, trying to distract him.
He kicked Brielle, just as she got the knife in her hands.
A flash of silver, a loud roar.
Kyle fell to his knees, trying desperately to get the knife that was lodged in his calf out. Brielle ran to my side, shivering. Dr. Flora sat still, watching in horror and clutching her sides. She deserved whatever pain she was going through.
Kyle slowly turned back, and the room felt a bit better. 'Kyle..." Brielle ran towards him.
'No…stay back…please." He stretched out his arm, blocking her from touching him. 'I need a moment..." He was breathing heavily, and was bleeding from the calf.
I got up, straining with effort. I glanced at Dr. Flora, who was managing to crawl on the ground. 'You'll pay for this." I spat.
She glared up at me. That look. She knew what she was doing this entire time.
'Oh please. I've been researching werewolves for years. The one time I find something that could obliterate them and you wanna destroy it?" She yelled, raging like a lost wolf.
'What are you talking about?" I asked, walking towards her.
'I hate those monsters! They took away my family. I swore to get my revenge on them, and I fucking will. I will! You can't stop me."
'Dr. Flora…" Brielle whispered. 'How could you… You know Kyle was bitten. Why direct your rage towards him?"
'She's deranged. That's why. A delusional scientist. What a befitting name for your mugshot." I said icily.
I'd make sure she paid for this.
She'd fucking pay.
Kyle collapsed into the ground, the knife sliding out of his calf. He groaned loudly, before passing out cold.
'Quick. We need to get him out of here." I motioned for Brielle to help get him up. She pushed the bed closer to him, and we both hauled him onto it. The blood on his calf had dried up, with clots forming on the opening.
'I didn't want to do this…" Brielle whispered, running her hands over the wound.
'You had no choice. He'd have killed us." I said through gritted teeth. I was so fucking mad. Since Dr. Flora apparently saw us befitting to be used as test subjects, I'd make sure she got what she deserved. Before she serves her time in prison, that is.
'You are one crazy woman." I said to her, kicking the shards of glass towards her. She flinched in pain as one of them lodged itself into her arm. She glared at me, and hung her head low.
************
'You can't do this!" Dr. Flora struggled against my men, as they dragged her into the basement of my penthouse. I almost never used this place, because there was nothing to use it for.
Well, new reasons come up everyday, don't they?
