CHAPTER TEN
Avilla's pov
I heaved a sigh when I heard that but I thanked her and hung up, it's not like I didn't want to go to school but I spent all my 17 years being home schooled and it was going to be hard for me to adjust to a new system especially with things I have heard that goes on in schools.
I rounded up in the store after getting easels I could paint on whenever I wanted. I was glad to have gotten these supplies because I tend to get crazy whenever I am stressed. I went back to the house to talk to my aunt about getting a car for school even though we have to split the money that is if she didn't feel comfortable with me buying a car all by myself. I got to the house and unlocked the door with my key and shouted for her.
'Aunt Beatrice!!!" I shouted
'What?!!!" she shouted back
'I need to talk to you!"
'I am upstairs, up in the attic" she said
I wondered what she was doing up there as I climbed up the stair to the attic, I didn't even realize this house had one. I got to the attic and heard her coughing from all the dust.
'Aunt, you okay?" I asked her
'Yes, coughs… yes I am. I will be right out" she wheezed out
'Okay" I told her, it's not like I was going to go in there, didn't want to have my nose clogged from all the dust she was battling with. She came out five minutes later looking like she cleaned the dust with her body. I almost laughed at how funny she looked right now but I had a favor to ask her and laughing was not the first step.
'What do you want pumpkin?" she asked me
'Well, I wanted to talk to you about getting a car I could go to school with" I told her.
'Of course, what kind of aunt do you think I am?" she asked me with her hands on her hips looking at me sternly
'A fun one?" I told her
'Damn right! I had all that prepared for you when I called you about coming to California" she said as she walked down the stairs with me following behind like a little mouse.
We got to a room I had never seen before outside the house, it was a garage of some sort, there were cars parked, I have never asked my aunty what she does for a living, and she was too comfortable even though she had her own fashion line but I didn't think it generated money like this. We entered and she switched on the light and I had to squint to let my eyes adjust to the lighting. She had four different cars parked but the fifth one in the middle was covered with trampoline. I guessed that one was mine.
She unveiled it and what I saw made my jaw drop, it was the ford mustang Shelby. I have dreamt of having a car like this and she just handed it to me. It was the best car ever! But it was super expensive, had to cost at least $70,000 to $100,000 just to get it. I know, I checked. My aunt turned to me with unshed tears in her eyes and said the six words every girl wanted to hear.
'Your mother told me you might like this" she said tearfully
My eyes welled up with unshed tears too because I had no idea my mother knew me too well. I always assumed she never paid attention to me and it turns out I was really wrong about that. I smiled at my aunt who was full on crying by now, she brought her arms up and I ran straight to them crying my heart out. Who knew getting a car could be so emotional?
'Thank you Aunt Beatrice" I told her
'You welcome pumpkin, I am happy you are here even if it's under these circumstances"
'I am happy to be here' I said tearfully
The emotional moment had passed and she was back to her cheerful self again,
'Why don't you take your new ride for a spin?" she said clapping her hands like a teenager.
I grinned at her as she tossed me the keys, I gestured for her to climb in as I revved the engine, and I love my new car. I breathed in the smell of the leather seats loving the new car smell, I placed my both hands on the steering wheel feeling the way it fit right. The car had everything, from the sync touchscreen entertainment system to the micro suede door panel inserts. It had a quick shifting speed dual clutch automatic.
'Are you going to keep smiling like a weirdo or are you going to drive the car?" I snapped out of my day dreaming as I faced my aunt who was looking at me like I just freaked her out.
'Okay, here we go!!!"
I drove out of the garage not forgetting to lock it as we sped away, I left my windows down because I wanted to feel like a bond girl, me in a cool car and the wind flapping my hair. If I had cool sunglasses then now would be the perfect time to wear them and complete the cool. My aunt was laughing as we circled the block, to make it more fun, I connected my phone to the sound system and blasted music. By the time we were driving back home, we were belting out the lyrics of halo by Beyoncé. It was a fun time for the both of. I got the bonding time I needed with my aunt and she in return got to spend time with me too, it was a win for everyone and that was okay with me.
