CHAPTER SEVENTY-NINE
Vladimir's pov
I stopped in my tracks and stared through narrowed eyes as the lone figure stepped up to me, it was clear that he had an ulterior motive and one I wasn't going to take kindly if he tried to be violent.
I raised my defenses as he came closer ignoring my defensive stance, he stepped up till I could see the face and I wasn't at all surprised, I have been expecting this for a long time and I was surprised when he didn't accost me sooner, it was expected that the ex-mate would confront me but I didn't think his former best friend would be doing it for him.
Avilla told me everything, right up to the part ben kissed her and I knew it would ruin his relationship with her former mate but I didn't think he loved to the point of confronting me.
'Can I help you with something?" I asked him politely.
'Stay away from Avilla!" he threatened.
I paid no attention to him as my eyes zeroed in on his movements, he was shaky and disoriented and in no way able to put up with me in a fight with the way he was swaying with every passing minute. It was clear that he didn't think it through before coming to challenge me.
'I would advise you to go home and get some sleep, you look like shit" I said calmly.
'I am warning you!" he said louder this time.
'I am not going to repeat myself but I can assure you that if you try to fight me, it's only going to end one way and that is with me ripping your heart out." I said with my voice with ice.
He froze with his eyes wide, it was like he saw me for the first time and it dawned on him that he was a fool that knew this wasn't a fight he would win and he wasn't willing to take any chances, he was weighing his options and it would serve him good to heed to his advice and go home. This wasn't a fair fight and I was kind hearted enough to give him a chance to back out.
He seemed to listen to himself because he turned and staggered the way he came from, I shook my head at him. Well, since he confronted me, I can assume that the other one wouldn't be long before he comes with his fight, I would be very happy to tell him off.
Fighting wasn't an option because we could end up killing each other and that wouldn't end well for both species.
I continued down the path I was walking till I disappeared within the trees, I ran to the house in the outskirts, I was about to turn towards the direction of the new house we lived in when I saw Sara talking to someone with his back to me. I couldn't recognize the person from the back but they looked to be serious in their conversation.
I was curious but at the same time suspicious of the scene, Sara didn't know anyone from here as far as I was concerned. She was so anti-social that she had no friends apart from my brother and I. it was quite surprising that she was talking to someone else that we didn't know about.
I decided to let it go, I was happy she was making friends and she had people to keep her company while I attended to my business. I entered the house and I met my brother lying on the sofa drinking blood from the stash we brought.
'Hey bro" he greeted lazily.
'Hey man" I greeted as I passed him but at the last minute I turned around to ask him something that has been bugging my mind.
'Do you know who Sara was talking to?" I asked him.
'No idea, she has been meeting this particular person for two days now but she made a new friend and that is all that matters." He sad I conclusion.
'Yeah, it is. I will be in my room, I have some research to do" I informed him.
'Okay"
I went up to my room and had a cold shower, I was still looking into the Konstantin's case, I wanted to know if he birthed any children who could be hybrid or if I could find anything that could help me out at all in my case with Avilla. We have been bonding and the darkness I could feel in her was getting darker as we spend more time together, it was like she was changing but I didn't know what.
I could feel her sinister energy and her mood swings sometimes, she just switches up like a light switch.
I want to be with her and I am trying to look for ways that can happen without any implications or consequences. I was I was spending time with her so far and we were both enjoying each other's company like we have known each other for long.
But there is something about her aunty that bothers me, she knows who I am and I am pretty sur I have seen her face before, she paled at the sight of me and it wasn't because of my nature.
Something was wrong, something she wasn't telling her niece and it was something huge, my instincts told me so and I was never one to ignore my instincts. If I was right about whatever it is she was hiding, it is either going to help our mate bond or destroy it completely. I didn't want that to happen so I was going to try my best to make sure that her aunty reveals whatever she was hiding to Avila.
I got the papers out and continued from where I was reading, it was lengthy and I wanted to read the whole thing before I decided anything about us.
I continued where I stopped…
