CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

I sighed and picked up the wine bottle, turning it so I could drink the very last drop. I didn't understand what just happened but I felt left out. I cleaned the glasses and packed the remaining food in the freezer for later, I turned off the kitchen lights and headed straight to bed. I took a shower and changed into my pajamas so I could get a proper goodnight sleep. ~~~ I woke up to the sun hitting my face and I groaned out oud when I realized I didn't shut the blinds before going to bed last night. I had a smile on my face because I had the nicest dream last night. I was alone in the forest when I felt a presence calling me to the river side, I followed the most tantalizing scent, and it called to me like a siren. I followed the scent and when I got to the river side. There he was… He was taking a swim in the middle of the river, the moonlight bounced off his hair and made it glitter in the dark. He was swimming not aware of the person looking at him from the bushes. He didn't seem to mind being naked and with a body of his, he shouldn't even care one bit. His taut ass showed that he worked out and his whole body showed he had great respect for it. I had great respect for it. It was magnificent. I didn't get to see his face because the dream as cut short but I was really happy from the dream and my wolf too was happy. She has been wagging her tail ever since. Her mood was beginning to affect mine too. I hummed quietly to myself as I thought that maybe I would finally get a chance to meet my mate today and we could live happily ever after. I was being positive after all. The dream have to have meant something in that line. I got dressed and used my favorite perfume so I could smell nice. I could hear my aunt struggling with something downstairs but I didn't care right now, I was in cloud 9 and nothing could ruin that. 'Avilla! Come down here!" my aunt shouted from downstairs I wondered why she was shouting, I haven't done anything wrong. I ran downstairs but not before carrying my backpack and my phone. 'Good morning aunt, what's wrong?" I asked her when I saw her standing there with her arms on her hips and a serious look on her face. 'I have serious apologizing to do" she said with her lips pulled into a frown I thanked the stars in my head, I was beginning to think she was going to scold me for underage drinking and for drinking her wine with my friends but that was not the case. 'What are you apologizing for, aunty?" I asked her 'I have been so busy with work that I haven't given you your birthday present and I wasn't even here to celebrate with you" she told me 'It's okay, I understand you had work to do. You can always do something special for the next one" I told her I didn't mind that she wasn't here for my birthday, it was nothing special and it's not like I have been celebrating the previous ones, I had no friends. She ignored my pleas and reached into her purse for a small package. 'Open this, I have been meaning to give it you. Your parents gave it to me a year ago. I was to give it to you when you turn eighteen" she said with tears in her eyes I accepted it with shaky fingers, I opened it and I saw a locket with their picture in it. Tears fell from my eyes, I didn't realize how much I missed them till I got the gift, my aunt saw the anguish on my face and pulled me into a hug. She rubbed my back as she told me how my parents loved me and they would be proud of me wherever they were. That just made me sob harder, looks like my happy mood was over in a twinkle of an eye, I missed them so much. My aunt shed a few tears of her own but she regained her composure just after the hug was over. 'I am sorry I wasn't here for your birthday, I wanted to be here for your first shift more than anything" she told me 'I know, I don't mind. Camilla helped me get through it" I told her. 'She did? That's kind of her. She is a good girl from a good home and I am sure she can keep your secret" my aunt warned me sternly 'Yes, she has not told anyone" I informed her 'Good, now you can tell your wolf to hide your scent so they still think you are human. I don't want you gaining attention, it might just attract the wrong people to you and I don't want that" she told me while giving me a gentle pat on the head. 'I have heard you and I won't attract attention to myself" I assured her She nodded, placing a kiss on my forehead she headed to work, I heard her car drive off, I made cereal for myself while waiting for Camilla to call me. I didn't have to wait for so long when her call came in, 'Hello" I answered 'Where are you?" she asked, I could hear the sound of cars where she was. 'In my kitchen, eating cereal" I answered with a mouth full of cereal 'Gross! Don't talk with your mouth full. I am on my way to school already, so I guess I will meet you there" she said 'Alright then" I told her before hanging up. I finished off my cereal, rinsing off my plates. I made sure the house was locked up before going to school in my car.
