CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE
Avilla's pov
I walked dazed back to my aunty, a vampire?
I didn't even realize those existed and to be fair, I didn't realize that wolves existed till I became one. I was confused and giddy at the same time.
Coming on this trip was because I needed to get away and not to find another mate and a vampire, wolves and vampires do not mate. It was forbidden and not only forbidden but supernaturally impossible. I read a lot of books on it.
"Avilla! What are you thinking about?" My aunt called my attention.
"Uh...the weirdest thing just happened to me right now" I said as I handed her the bottle.
"What is it? You look troubled" she said, she poured her wine into a glass and took a sip from it
"I just saw a vampire" I told her when she took another sip.
She spit out her drink and started having a coughing fit, she hit her chest gently to calm herself.
"What?! You saw a vampire?" She asked.
"Yes, I did" I told her.
She looked freaked out and I never see my aunt so freaked out like this, this clearly bothered her a lot.
"Are you sure?" She asked again.
"Yes, I am sure. I spoke to him" I told her.
"Oh" she said flatly.
"What's wrong?" I asked her.
She looked like she saw a ghost, the way her color was pale and her eyes wide. Something was wrong with this picture.
"Aunt Beatrice?" I called out to her, she was blinking and not moving. I think she is having a stroke.
"Yes, um...I am just really tired. I think I will turn in for the night." She said.
"Really? We haven't even started yet relaxing yet" I said.
"I am tired and I want to turn in" she snapped.
I reared back, hurt at her tone. This was supposed to be a fun day for us and she was bailing?
"Okay" I said quietly.
She turned and headed back in the direction of our cabin, she left the wine, and it was still full. Guess who is going to have fun alone?
I grabbed the bottle and drank directly from the bottle, it was evening and the beach was almost deserted. It was just few people and I liked it. The sound of waves crashing against the shore was the only sound heard.
It was getting dark and it was chilly, I wore my jacket back and drank the wine.
I came here to think and get my life back on track yet it seems I am getting confused more and more from everyone acting strange. I sighed to myself before laying down on the blanket.
The stars shined ever so brightly in the sky and it brought some sort of peace for me, I kept my eyes fixated on the sky and I wondered why my life was so up and down.
Someone cleared his throat and it brought me out of my thoughts.
"Ahem!"
I looked up and there he was, even in the dark, I could see him clearly.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him, lifting myself from the blanket into a sitting position.
"Sorry for intruding on your private moment but I wanted to know more about you" he said confidently.
I smiled at that, someone that knows that werewolves and vampires cannot be together but somehow wants me. I guess I was lucky.
"Sure, have a sit" I offered.
He sat down and looked straight at me, his eyes were so vibrant and enticing. It tugged at something in me making my wolf stir. Speaking of my wolf, she hasn't said anything since his arrival.
"Thank you" his deep timbre voice echoed.
I became shy all of a sudden, I was used to Rohan's aloofness that I didn't know how to react when I was met with a handsome guy like Vladimir.
"Um...what do you want to know?" I asked him shyly.
He chuckled.
"Tell me, do you have a mate?" He asked suddenly.
I was shocked into silence, I didn't know what to say and I didn't want to chase him away without knowing a little about him.
While Rohan rejected me, I still haven't accepted his rejection because I was hoping he would change his mind. After that episode in my house, I wasn't too keen on waiting anymore.
"It's complicated" I said instead.
He looked at me with anger, not directed at me but the unlucky soul who rejected me, it was very sweet.
"I understand, do you know anything about vampires?" He asked as a change of subject.
I didn't know anything about them except they live longer, they are faster and they do not take kindly to betrayal. They had clans instead of packs and one ruler governed them all.
I shrugged, with all the vampire diaries I have been watching, you would think I paid attention to anything other than Damon's sexiness.
"No" I answered.
"You know I can read minds right?" He asked.
"What?" Oh no! He totally heard everything I say.
"Don't panic, I was just kidding. We can't read minds" he said laughing.
I struck out to hit him on his shoulder, he laughed harder making my join him. He was fun!
The laughter died down and we were left with a comfortable silence.
"You know I don't live here?!" I asked him.
"Of course I do, any supernatural that lived here wouldn't be so shocked that a vampire exists" he said.
"Okay"
"But it doesn't mean I can't find you, I have your scent now and it is burned into my memory forever" he said grinning.
"That was so cheesy" I told him as I grinned back.
He stared at me for a long time as if studying me, like he was committing my features into his memory. It made me shy but not uncomfortable. I liked him watching me, it made me feel beautiful with the way he does it.
