CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT
Vladimir's pov.
I paced my room severally, I knew I was playing a dangerous game but I didn't think it would end soon. I was thinking I had more time to gather my information on her. I went to her cabin and she had already left. I wasn't sad or angry, I knew I would always find her one way or the other. Her features and scent have been burned into my memory like coal. The only problem is telling my father that I am going to look for my mate because she disappeared.
I would have to tell him that my mate is a werewolf and that would begin a while lecture of how that is impossible and I was making things up because I didn't want to be king. I have never run away from my responsibilities before and I wasn't going to start now but my dad was untrusting ever since Stevenson left this clan in search of his mate and never came back to it. He was always worried that everyone was going to do the same.
No matter how many times I try to assure him but he wasn't having it. This time I was going to need my brother's help to convince father that I would be back. Avilla might be a wolf but her wolf accepted me and that is a good start. Her eyes shows deep pain and that can only be from her mate. Rejection can be such a depressing thing. I can't believe someone would reject her, she is the most beautiful lady I have ever seen and I have lived a hundred years more than that.
I have seen my fair share of my girls, both vampire and human, have had my share of them too. Being vampire means you get to do all kinds of things in your present and former life. It was exhilarating.
A knock sounded on my door and it gave away to show my brother.
"You called for me?" He asked.
"Yes, I did. I need your help" I told him.
He stepped into the room making himself comfortable on my enormous bed.
"What is it?" He asked again.
"I need to get away from the clan" I stated.
He gazed at me with shock. "You can't do that, you are meant to be king. I want none of that, I mean what would father say? He would disown you." He said not missing a breath.
"Hold on, I am not running from my responsibilities, I just need to find my mate" I told him.
"Oh, then you should have led with that" he said glaring at me.
I shrugged not saying anything.
"Wait! I thought you already found her?" He asked.
"Yes but she left, she doesn't live here and it seems she has gone back to her town as of this morning, I went to check on her and the place has been vacated." I explained.
"Okay but you know father won't believe you, he would think you are running away" my brother told me.
"I know, that's where you come in. You have to back me up when I bring it up. Don't chicken out like you usually do when we go to meet father" I told him.
"Hey!" He started to argue but at the last minute he changed his mind. "Yeah, you are right. I betrayed you a lot when we were kids" he laughed.
I shook my head at him, he was always doing that. We would agree on something and when he sets eyes on my father, he changes his mind to get into his good graces.
"Perfect! So I was planning on talking to father this evening after the council meeting, what do you think?" I asked him.
My brother was the only person I talk to, he always had my back except when it comes to my dad but that was because he was such a chicken. We had a bond deeper than being just brothers. Vampires do not normally get along with their siblings, it was always one thing or the other that tears them apart. And they have centuries to make up but yet they choose to fight.
I and my brother always found each other even when we went our separate ways to explore the world. I liked it and he always comes to me for advice just like I do too.
"Okay, that's nice. He is going to question you about this girl. You know right?" He asked.
"That's the problem, I don't know anything about her. I was so focused on finding out about her likes and dislikes than to ask anything personal about her like where she lives or where she schools, don't laugh at me. I did that already when I discovered I knew nothing about her" I told him.
He burst out laughing, the little prick! I was expecting some kind of pity and encouragement but not full blown mockery laughter.
"You lovesick moron!" He laughed harder.
"Shut up!" I grumbled.
"You would think after your years on earth, you would learn a thing or two on how to follow women, you spent yesterday night with her and yet got nothing useful?" He said in-between laughs.
"You are of no use to me if you keep laughing, I would ask Sara for help" I threatened.
"Yes, ask the girl that has been in love with you for centuries now to help you get through another girl, you know nothing about women, do you." He said.
I frowned, he was right. It would be a disaster to ask Sara for help, she would tear my mate to shreds with her jealousy and I wouldn't like that at all.
"You helping me or not?" I asked him again.
"Of course I will help, you are my brother." He stated.
I nodded my satisfaction, one down. All it remained was for me to get father to agree to this without making a fuss about it.
