CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR
Rohan's pov.
I was back at home because I wanted to see my father for something very important. He has been pretty busy lately plotting on something because he was always deep in thoughts.
I needed his help with this mate problem, he had to know that it was bad for me since I came to him willingly. Knowing him, he is going to tease me till I regret coming in the first place.
I got to the house and opened the door, the fresh smell of my mother's cookies hit my nose, and I inhaled and breathed in the aroma. She has always been a good cook.
"Patrick is that you?!" she hollered from the kitchen.
"No mom, it's Rohan. Where is dad? I need to talk to him" I asked her.
"Your father stepped out for a meeting in the library five hours ago and has not returned. I told him specifically that dinner is by six." she said with a little frown on her face.
It was unlike my dad to not tell her if he was going to take much time with the meeting, he is always so accountable with my mother. I could sense why she was worried though.
"I will go look for him" I assured her.
"What about you? Are you staying for dinner? Your sister Camilla is coming" she told me.
I still wasn't speaking to Camilla after she disturbed me to reveal my secret and I ended up snapping at her. She has been avoiding me since then and wouldn't say anything to me.
I could tell she was angry but what was I supposed to do? She was annoying and I had to get her to stop.
"Sure thing mom, save me a plate" I told her, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
I grabbed my coat and headed out to look for my father, I greeted a few people as I passed, they responded but nobody had anything to tell me.
I got to the library and signed in, I went in the direction of the conference room, it is where we usually hold meetings in the pack and we entertain pack visitors who came on business there, I knocked on the door and waited. I didn't hear anyone coming to open the door, I pushed it open and was shocked at the sight In front of me.
My dad was bent over the table with his head supported with his hand and he was fast asleep.
I breathed out a sigh of relieve and thanked the moon goddess that something bad did not happen to him.
I walked closer to make sure that he was indeed breathing and he was.
"Dad?" I nudged him.
"Dad!" I called again but he made no move to sit up, he was out like a light.
"DAD!!!" I raised my voice. He jumped out of his seat, his body tense and his eyes wide with danger. He looked alert like he expected a fight from me.
"Rohan?" he asked confused.
He looked around the office like he didn't know how he got there.
"Dad, are you okay?" I asked him.
He looked really freaked out and it was a weird expression on his face because he was never freaked out about anything.
"Yes I am" he said in a more calm tone.
"Mom has been worried about you, you didn't call to tell her that you were going to be running late and I decided to come look for you" I explained.
"That's okay, let's head home" he said.
He looked around the office one more time before we both beaded out the door.
"Rohan do you how long ago did you say I was gone for?" he asked me.
"Mom mentioned something about five hours" I told him.
He nodded his head but he still had this confused expression on his face.
"Dad, what's going on?" I asked him.
"I will explain when we get home, something strange happened to me" he said.
"Okay" I guess my problem is going to wait till we finish with his. He clearly had a serious problem, no wonder he was so freaked out about it.
My mom would be happy to see nothing bad happened to him.
We headed back to the house and I could see that Camilla has arrived because her car was parked out front.
"I think your sister is here" my dad pointed out.
"Yeah"
We entered the house and my mom rounded up on my father.
"I was worried sick about you, are you okay?" she asked patting my father down for injuries.
He nodded his head, placing his hand on her cheek and assuring her that he was okay.
She nodded with unshed tears in her eyes, stepping back to give him some room.
I was staring at them like I couldn't believe it, you would think she would be angry that he didn't call her because of dinner but she was more worried about him for not calling. That was very sweet!!!
"Hey dad" Camilla rushed over to greet him, she hugged him tight before letting go but refused to say anything to me. She ignored my presence and pretended like she didn't see me.
If that is how she wants to play it then okay.
"Come on! I need to talk to you guys" my dad said before ushering us to the living room.
My mom brought the freshly baked cookies to the table and put it down, I already had like two in my mouth before she sent me a disapproving look.
"What? If you didn't want me to eat it then you shouldn't have brought it" I shrugged.
We sat down, Camilla avoided me totally but I paid no attention to her antics, I was more focused on my father.
What he said was really not what I expected him to say at all.
His next statement had us dropping our jaws quickly with shock.
"The alpha tried to kill me today" he said bluntly.
