CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

Mr. Knight thought about the other day with his son and what he said about the missing pages. He didn't believe they were gone till he went to the archives himself to see it with his own eyes. Why would Dickson tear of the pages of his wife's journal and what exactly did he hope to achieve from hiding the rest of the story. He has been planning to confront him but he decided to wait it out and see if Dickson would come to him. But seeing as that hasn't happened, he was going to confront him instead... He headed to his office the next day after his decision, He didn't bother knocking, he just opened the door and walked straight in. "Dickson!!! You have a lot of explaining to do" he barked at his alpha "Careful Knight you know who you are speaking to!" He said exerting his dominance over my wolf. It made me angry that he thought I would cower like a weak little wolf. "And you remember who you are talking to!" I thundered exerting my own dominance. It rolled off in waves till I could see the crown of his head as he bowed his head a little. My wolf was satisfied at his submission. "You seem to have forgotten your place, Dickson. Don't do that again." I barked at him "I apologize for the disrespect" he said still looking down I wasn't completely honest with my kids, I didn't tell them I had to give up my position as the alpha king to my younger brother because I was mated to a human. My parents couldn't help me, they let me keep my powers but my younger brother was the king now. I still had privileges but I just wasn't allowed to rule the werewolf world anymore. It was a tiny sacrifice for the sake of my happiness. I didn't want to tell Rohan that because I wanted him to be happy and if he had to forfeit the warrior position then so be it. "You haven't answered me yet" I reminded Dickson "I had to remove them for safe keeping" he said with a straight face I knew he was lying but the only way I would uncover the truth was to let him think I believe his little lies. He was up to something and it was not a good one. I have always known he was a weasel and he was willing to do anything to get his away and he was capable of selling those secrets out just to gain more power not caring if any of us was hurt in the process. I remember how he got the alpha position, I could remember it like it was yesterday. He was just the former alpha's beta, the alpha wasn't able to have kids. He trained Dickson to take over the pack when he was ready to retire. While everyone thought that was the best idea, I see Dickson for who he truly was. He was a greedy and very selfish person who only thought about himself. It wasn't long before the Luna took in, the alpha was excited to have an heir. But Dickson wasn't happy, he wanted to be in the alpha position so bad that he started poisoning the King with silver, little traces in his tea. It was making the alpha weak and when Dickson saw the opportunity to strike, he didn't miss his chance. He challenged the alpha for the title knowing he would win and the alpha title would be transferred to him instead. When he won, he chased the former Luna and child out of the pack to be rogues. They were in my former pack now, the Luna told me everything under oath before she left. It was clear she wanted someone to know the truth about what happened to her mate. She didn't want people to think she has gone crazy because of the death of her mate if she started accusing the new alpha. So she left quietly. I never told Dickson what Luna told me because I didn't want him to know. He figured he was the only one that knew. It was a serious case of treason that he committed and that could lead to death. Now tearing off the pages of all the journals written by some of the bravest warriors, legends and elder wolves. And he claimed it was for safekeeping, that was bullshit and he knew that. I was going to have to start looking into him, he definitely got something up his sleeves and I was going to find out. "So you are now building s library in your office?" I asked him again "No but I just don't want it to get into the wrong hands" he said I didn't want to push it so I let it go. "Alright" I let him have this one. "Is there any other thing I can help you with?" He asked me "Not at all, I would be taking my leave now. I thought something had happened to the pages" I told him He shook his head not saying anything else. "Have a nice day" and with that I left his office. On my way back to the house, I thought long and hard of reasons why Dickson would be holding those papers hostage. He believes they were in danger? From who? Him? This was so like him, making people think he is doing things for their interests and end up stabbing them at the back. I got to the house and my wife met me at the door. "How did it go?" She asked me I tell her everything and I told her about going to see Dickson about the missing pages today. I sighed "he is definitely up to something, he mentioned taking them because he felt they would fall in the wrong hands" I told her. She took my hands and led me to the couch "yeah right, those have been there for hundreds of years and it has never fallen into the wrong hands. He comes thirty years later and he thinks he knows everything?" She scoffed I laughed a little at her reaction, she wasn't happy and she never failed to show it. "That's what he said, my wolf knew he was lying especially what he did to the former alpha's family. He is not to be trusted and he has plans for those papers." I told my wife "We need to get those papers back, those includes years of history and stories that could help or destroy a pack if understood. We can't just let him take it and destroy this pack with us in it" she told me I loved how she wasn't afraid to fight for what she loved, it is what made giving up my throne for her easier and much better. "Honey, slow down. I would take care of it" I assured her She turned to glare at me "you mean we would take care of it?" She asked "Honey, I don't want you getting involved" I pleaded with her "No, I took an oath when became your mate, we are in it till the end. We are going to take care of this together" she said fiercely. I knew there was a reason the moon goddess matched us, this is why I didn't want Rohan to miss out on having a mate because of ignorance. Speaking of which, I haven't spoken to him since he told me his plan to woo her like a gentleman and slowly reveal his true nature. "Hey, have you spoken to Camilla? Penelope asked me 'No, why? I have been so focused on Rohan that I haven't been paying attention to her. "She has been acting strange lately" she observed "You think it is possible she has found her mate?" I asked her "Yes that's true but I wonder why she has not mentioned anything to us" she said sadly "Oh honey, maybe she is bidding her time. You know she has always been a private person. Give her time, she will come to you when she is ready" I assured her She smiled at me, choosing to believe that I knew what I was saying. The truth was Camilla found her mate and he was human too but she was afraid of the law too just like Rohan but she was pursuing her own regardless of the law. I was proud of her but I wish she would come to us for guidance. I wanted them both to be as happy as I was with their mother, they deserve that kind of happiness and who cares if they were mated to humans. All wolves deserved a chance love.
