CHAPTER FIFTY-FIVE

Rohan's pov. I was getting ready for my date with Avilla when my phone rang and it was my ex-girlfriend, Sophia. The werewolf who I had something with some while back. She insisted we have dinner and talk about something important. I didn't want to stand Avilla up but Sophia said she had something to talk about. I called and cancelled on Avilla. She sounded cool and I figured I would make it up to her later. I drove to the restaurant to meet Sophia. I parked my car outside and headed inside, I approached the table she was in, she still looked pretty as always and I think even more than the last time I saw her. We ordered together and got to eating. "So what did you want to talk about?" I asked her. "My mate left me" she said simply. "What?!" I asked her. They were all happy together and she was telling me how she couldn't believe that she was happy with her mate. She couldn't stop talking about it when she came to visit her parents in the pack. "He was still in love with his first wife and mate who passed away, her spirit haunted me everywhere and during sex, he calls me by her name. It's like he doesn't see me at all. I tried to make him forget his wife but I was fooling myself thinking that would work" she said. I took her hands in mine and looked at her, I had so many things I wanted to tell her but I just didn't know where to begin. I was about to tell her that she shouldn't beat herself up about it and just move on but something caught my eyes. It was Avilla and Ben talking in a far off booth, she was dressed in a very hot dress and I was the idiot who stood her up because my ex-girlfriend called me just to talk. "Did she sound cool because she knew she was meeting with Ben later?" "Rohan, you okay?" Sophia asked in concern. I shook my head, 'yes, I am" "What I was going to say was that, it's good that you left before you lost your sanity in that relationship. I know you are a good person and you tried to salvage the relationship. I am proud of you." I told her. "That is very sweet of you, Ro. You have always been a sweet guy, quiet but sweet." She said. 'I am always here for you, soph." I said lowly as I rubbed my thumb across her hands. "You know..." She started to say but I tuned her off. Because Avilla and Ben were kissing, they were kissing without any care in the world about people watching them. Something in me turned green and ugly real quick. Sophie tried getting my attention but it was too late, I was so far gone with anger. I was furious with Ben and Avilla, but mostly, I was angry with myself for letting this happen. She looked so confused and shocked about the kiss, she cleaned her lips and looked around the restaurant checking if someone saw them but she met my eyes instead. Her eyes widened and narrowed when it travelled next to me, she pursed her lips and turned back to finish her food. That's it? She was going to go back to eating like she did nothing wrong?! She was kissing another man! I counted to ten to calm my wolf down and focused on my breathing so I don't go berserk on people. She finished her food, paid for it and left to her car. She looked furious and I wondered why that was. She was the one kissing my best friend in my presence. "Rohan, are you okay. I have been trying to get your attention for some time now?" Sophia asked. "Yes, yes. I am okay. I just got lost a bit there" I answered. "What about you, have you found your mate yet?" She asked. "No, not yet" I lied. I just denied my mate after I rejected, I have got to be the worst mate in the history of werewolves. I wouldn't blame Avilla for moving on with her life after this. But it didn't give her any right to kiss someone else. Not while I was still alive. "That's terrible. Well, I am back now so maybe we can pick up right where we left off" she suggested. "Not right now, I am kind of going through some family crises and I wouldn't want any distraction right now" I told her. "Sure, I understand. Just hit me up when you are ready" she said. That won't be happening for a very long time, at least I needed to repair my relationship with my mate now that is not completely broken. This was what I should have said but I was stupid "Sure" I answered instead. "Good" she said. "Hey, I am going to go. Something came up and I want to deal with it right now" I told her "Sure, want me to come with you?" She asked "No need, I got it" I said and I paid for our meal right before leaving the restaurant. Now, that I was done with that, I allowed myself to get mad about the Ben and Avilla situation. How dare they play me for a fool? I thought Ben was my best friend and I thought we were getting somewhere, Avilla and I. I drove angrily to her house to ask her what the hell that was all about. How could she do this? And when I am done with her, I am going to tear Ben a new one. I specifically told him to stay away from Avilla, to keep his distance. I got to her driveway and parked my car, I didn't knock, and I barged into her house and screamed on top of my voice. "Avilla!!!"
