CHAPTER NINETEEN

I followed suit as I chased her, it was a natural instincts for me to run after her. I howled as the air flew by my ears as I ran past the trees, I felt the breeze ruffle my fur. It felt good like I was wild and free. I followed Camilla as I gave up control and allow my wolf use her instincts to guide us. I barked at some point because I was so happy. We got to the river bank where we stayed to catch our breath and I caught my reflection in the water, my wolf was beautiful. Midnight blue fur, no patches or any other color, my fur shone under the moonlight. It was beautiful. I was feeling proud of myself. I was tall for a wolf and large too. I almost looked intimidating at first sight. 'Hey, how do we change back?" I asked Camilla 'It's quite easy actually, just picture yourself as human and you will be human again" she informed me 'Okay, when are we going back?" I asked her 'Anytime you are ready and want to shift back. I figured you will experience the same pain as when you shifted" she told me I wasn't ready to stop playing yet but I needed to know more about werewolves and what ambrosia meant by mate. I trudged into the water and splashed around a bit, laughing at myself when I realized how silly I must look right now. I cooled off a bit before telling Camilla to get ready because we would be going home soon. She was okay with it. I guess being a wolf for so long must have its advantages. You are one with the nature and all of that. I came out from the water and stood near the banks, and we ran back to the spot I shifted the first time. We got there and Camilla stood by the side giving me a little space to shift back. I imagined myself being human again and I felt my bones snapping again causing me to scream out from the pain. 'Ahhhh!!!...it hurts so badly" I screamed I kept screaming till I was human again and completely naked, I was stark naked under the watchful eyes of Camilla who was already looking she was still leaning on the tree when I was shifting. She was still fully dressed the same way she came as for the party. She saw me looking at her questioningly and shrugged 'You will learn, shifting without ripping your clothes takes skill and years of practice." She said to me while dusting herself off. She reached into her bag and got her long jacket and threw it at me, I looked at her clothes which didn't need jacket, and she saw me staring at her and shrugged again. 'What? I knew it would turn out like this and I don't want you being naked as we drive home" she said to me I could hug and kiss her. Maybe after I have put on some clothes. We headed home after that, my aunt wasn't home still and it bothered me a bit. She was supposed to be present for my birthday but she wasn't and it bothered me. I tried her cellphone but it was going straight to voicemail so I left her a message. 'Hey Aunt Beatrice, I have been trying to reach you since morning and I hope you are safe wherever you are" I hung up as soon as I was done. I showed Camilla to the guestroom who suggested I take a nice warm bath and take some Advil then I would be fine. I thanked her after I brought some fresh sleeping wear for her to sleep in. I was leaving her room when she stopped me again. 'We need to talk about mate ship" she suggested I didn't want to talk about it anymore than she wanted to know that her very aloof brother was my mate. 'Do we really need to?" I asked her 'Yes because I want you to be well prepared, your emotions are heightened and whatever feelings you feel automatically multiplies and it may enrage your wolf and you end up acting out" she explained I understood what she was trying to say but I just wasn't ready for the conversation yet. 'I get it but I don't really want to talk about this right now" I told her honestly 'What happens if he rejects you?" she asked. 'Then I move on" I told her Her eyes widened comically then she just burst out laughing for no reason. 'What's funny?" I asked her She just held her stomach as she entered another fit of laughter, I stood shocked because I wondered what I said that made her laugh so hard. 'Oh Avilla, you are so cute" she said as she wiped a tear from the corner of her eyes. 'What did I say?" I asked again 'Nothing, nothing" she said before she burst into laughter again 'Just talk to me" I urged her She gestured for me to sit down, I did expecting her to sit with me but she remained standing. 'How much do you know about us werewolves in general?" she asked me 'Nothing so deep, just the basics. The stuff my aunt told me" I told her She nodded as she paced the room, she appeared deep in thought and something clearly bothered her. 'Avilla, rejection from your mate is not a joke. It can kill your wolf if she isn't strong enough to handle it. Your mate completes you and it's like your other half. If you get rejected, you will just walk around with a half of you missing." She said 'I don't get it" I told her She sat down beside me on the bed, taking my hands in hers and her face taking on that tender look. 'when you meet your mate, you will feel an attraction so powerful that it blows your mind, it is like you always want to be near that person, breathe the same air and you constantly want to be touching him" she said with a faraway look in her eyes. 'How will you know you have met your mate?" I asked her thinking back to when I met Rohan for the first time and I was entranced. I didn't want to tell her that her brother was my mate. 'Oh it's the best thing ever, it starts when you perceive the most wonderful smell, and when it leads you to him, your senses starts going haywire and you want to jump him then. When your eyes meet, your wolves connect and whisper the word 'mate" inside your head telling you that you have met him." she said It was a very nice way to meet someone but I was determined not to let the whole mate thing bother me. I was tired and sore everywhere and the last thing I needed was to be worried about tomorrow and not get any sleep. 'That's very nice Camilla but I just got my wolf, and I clearly want to adjust to my new senses and enjoy myself a bit before getting wrapped up in the whole mate thing, okay?" I told her 'I know but seeing as you got your wolf, the chances of that happening is very likely. So I don't want you to be taken by surprise." She told me while pulling me in for a hug. My chin resting on her shoulder blades I whispered a thank you 'thank you for today" 'You are welcome, now go get some sleep. We have school tomorrow" she reminded me. 'I know that, goodnight" I said as I closed her room door I headed to my room, I went straight to the bathroom where I prepared myself a bath with essential oils that would relax my sore muscles. I made the water extra hot and grabbed my book. I entered the bathtub and settled in with my book to read, I moaned at how the water felt so good with my muscles, I tried opening the book but I closed it back at the last minute just wanting to relax. I closed my eyes and just let the water do its work in helping me release in the tension in my joints. I thought everything that happened today and thanked my stars that Camilla was there to guide me because I imagine it wouldn't have been easy doing it all by myself right here.
