Jayden's Future Wife
"Excuse me, Sir. Good evening?"
Jonathan lifted his face from the phone when he heard the familiar voice. A moment later, the corner of his mouth twitched as he saw a beautiful, neatly dressed girl standing in front of him with a graceful smile.
"Grace, right? Please have a seat," Jonathan invited graciously. Grace nodded politely and took a seat in front of Jonathan.
"Do you already know why I called you here?" Jonathan inquired after placing his phone on the table.
"To discuss something important?" Grace replied.
Jonathan smiled. "I am your father's friend. More precisely, I am your future father-in-law, Grace."
"Ah, sorry, Sir? Did I hear that correctly?" Grace was surprised but tried to maintain a calm demeanor in front of this important person.
"Of course. You are the woman I will marry off to my son," Jonathan stated.
Grace's heart was beating rapidly. She couldn't even utter a word in response. The face in front of her wasn't unfamiliar; she had met Jonatan directly when attending a dinner party with her father at a grand gathering.
From there, Grace could infer that the man was not just anyone. And what she had just heard clearly wasn't casual talk.
But the fact that the man's son was her future spouse was something Grace hadn't expected.
Her father had given her a heads-up about the arranged marriage but unfortunately didn't reveal the name of her future husband. This was really annoying.
Moreover, the news her father had given her was sudden. She had thought her father was joking.
"But I don't know. Your son... what's his name?" Grace inquired.
Jonathan looked surprised for a moment but then smiled gently. "It seems your father wanted to keep it a secret from you. But what can I say, I don't want to keep you in suspense any longer."
Grace looked at Jonathan seriously, awaiting the name to come out of his mouth. Anxiously, Grace hoped her future husband would be someone she knew. And if not, she hoped the man would meet her expectations based on his name.
"My son, whom I am betrothing you to, is named Jayden... Jayden Byhantara. He is my most handsome and talented firstborn son." Jonathan smiled as he watched Grace's confused expression.
"You will surely like him when you see him in person," he continued with a chuckle.
Grace swallowed slowly. It turned out the man was not someone close to her or at least not someone she knew. But judging from his pretty cool name, Grace thought the man was indeed suitable as described by Jonathan.
Suddenly, Grace was very curious about this man named Jayden. She blushed slightly and smiled shyly, her face turning red.
"May I meet him beforehand? I want to confirm your words about him," Grace requested.
Jonathan smiled. This was easier than he had expected. "That's why I asked you to come here. Because he will meet you tonight."
Grace's head suddenly lifted with slightly widened eyes. "Are you serious, Uncle? Will he really come to see me?"
"I'm serious, Grace. I purposely asked him to come here to see for himself how beautiful you are."
Grace's face grew warm. Surely her cheeks were blushing by now. She cleared her throat to calm her nerves and smiled shyly. Ah, it seemed she would have trouble sleeping tonight after meeting her handsome future husband.
"I hope he likes me, Sir."
"Of course. He will definitely like a girl as beautiful as you. After all, which man can resist the charm of a Grace Natalie like you," Jonathan teased with a smile.
Grace's cheeks instantly reddened. She couldn't wait to meet her future spouse. She secretly restrained a smile. It seemed everyone did acknowledge that she was very beautiful. Indeed, it wasn't a lie.
"Thank you, Sir. I will await your son's arrival," Grace replied with a shy smile.
Jonathan smiled at Grace's enthusiasm. He had indeed chosen the right future for Jayden. Now he just had to send a message to his son to meet her. Of course, using work as an excuse. Jonathan wouldn't reveal the real reason, that tonight was his meeting with Grace, his future wife.
"In that case, I'll take my leave, Grace. I don't want to disturb your time. Good night."
"Yes, Sir. Good night."

In the dimly lit cafe, Jayden sat with a blank expression, pondering his foolishness in coming here. As the cafe door opened, his hope vanished instantly when the person who appeared was not Jonathan, but a young woman who smiled gently.
"Jayden, how delighted to meet you. I'm Grace," greeted Grace enthusiastically. She had just finished fixing her makeup in the car.
"Why didn't Jonathan inform me about this?" Jayden asked in a cold voice.
Grace smiled broadly. "It's an idea from my father and mother. They thought we could spend time together."
"Shouldn't we discuss work instead?" Jayden expressed his disapproval.
However, Grace laughed. "Actually, Jayden, there's something more interesting. My father said we are future husband and wife!"
Jayden's face immediately widened in shock. "What are you saying? That's impossible! Your father must be joking!"
In his heart, Jayden felt deceived. While they sat at the same table, Jayden only showed his jealousy by being indifferent. He was busy playing with his phone, ignoring Grace's long story about herself. But in his silence, the flames of anger continued to burn within him.
Jadyn let out a small sigh. "Isn't this a sudden meeting because of your parents' plan? I thought we'd better discuss work or anything meaningful for this meeting."
Grace smiled. "But, Jay, we will be family. Let's not start this coldly. Tell me something about yourself."
"Hmm, I am a businessman," Jayden replied without taking his eyes off his phone screen.
Grace sneered. "Just that? Isn't there anything more important than your job status?"
Jayden shrugged nonchalantly. "Work is the biggest part of my life. That's enough."
Grace sighed. "Jay, we need to get to know each other if we are going to be a family. Can we do this well?"
Jayden glanced at her briefly. "Let's see." He returned to his phone, leaving Grace confused and empty.
"Hey, don't you want to tell me about yourself, Jay? Aren't we supposed to get to know each other more deeply?" Grace interjected. Although Grace felt annoyed, she tried to hide her disappointment.
"Oh, your appearance is nice," Jayden remarked with a hint of indifference.
"But I want to know your honest opinion. Am I too much?" Grace asked while adjusting her outfit.
Jayden raised an eyebrow. "Isn't it obvious? Your appearance is too flashy."
Grace grinned. "I know you'll change your mind later."
Jayden just shook his head. "We'll see."
Back in his world created by his phone screen, Jayden remained indifferent, leaving Grace with little hope.
Grace stared at Jayden with a sharp gaze. "Have I entered the type of women you like, Jay?"
Jayden let out a short sigh. "Far from it."
