What's Lacking in Me?
"Such a nuisance," murmured Agatha as she walked towards the still unconscious Cakra.
Without permission, Agatha searched for the key in both of Cakra's pants pockets. After finding it, she sighed heavily. Damn because the key wasn't just one.
It was a bunch. Agatha grimaced inwardly. It seemed she had to exert all her strength just to get out of this room.
Agatha exhaled. Lethargically, she walked back to the door and unlocked it by trying several keys in her hand.
At least she was lucky because the room didn't use a door resembling an apartment door that required a pin code.
Later, after the door opened, Agatha planned to call Jayden and send the location. If there was no signal, Agatha had a second plan; she would look for the fire alarm button there.
She could quickly flee by running as fast as possible. As for the way back, she would think about it later. The important thing was to get out of this luxurious mansion first.
"Why won't it open?" Agatha grumbled when the keys she held were almost depleted, and she still couldn't open the door.
"It could be trouble if that man wakes up again. Should I hit his head with the flower vase again to make him forget?" Agatha remarked while continuing to try. Occasionally, she also glanced at Cakra to ensure he wouldn't wake up suddenly.
"Oh, right. Silly me. Why don't I call from here too?" Agatha decided to pause for a moment and search for her phone.
"Well, it's not in my pocket. Where did he put my phone?" Agatha mumbled, searching around.
She chose to look for her phone first. As for the door issue, she was sure that after finding her phone, the door would surely open.
"I hope Cakra is really foolish. I'm sure he also keeps my phone in this room." Agatha began to search every place there.
A few minutes passed, and at last, Agatha found her phone. It was lying in the unlocked bedside table drawer.
Although she had searched the wardrobe, she momentarily forgot about the bedside table beside the bed in a hurry.
"Finally, I found you. Now I will try to call Jayden," said Agatha, then began to search for Jayden's contact.
Luck was on her side once again. Apparently, the signal here was good enough, although not smooth. At least Agatha could contact Jayden.
However, she forgot about the battery, just as the call was connected, her phone suddenly died. Ah, she nearly forgot that luck could come and go at any moment.
"I hope Jayden is sensitive if I need his help," said Agatha before tucking her phone back into the skirt pocket. Then she decided to head back to the door.
"Agatha."
However, she had to stop when her foot was suddenly grabbed. Agatha's heart almost stopped for a moment when she heard that it was Cakra's voice.
As she turned around, the man looked at her while holding her foot. His eyes were melancholic, and a faint, tired smile appeared on his lips. For a moment, Agatha almost felt sorry for him.
"Why did you have to wake up now?" Agatha muttered. Trying to stay calm. "Let go of my foot."
"Why are you doing this?" Cakra hoarsely asked.
Agatha grunted because her foot was still not released. She regretted that she only hit him with three books earlier; she should have used six books.
Agatha took a long breath because maybe this was the right moment to give a firm answer. It seemed Cakra didn't intend to hurt her again.
"What else? Of course, because you were the one who did the evil things to me," Agatha responded.
Cakra didn't break his gaze. He didn't care about the pain in the corner of his bleeding lip. "Why do you hate me? Can't you return my feelings?"
"After what you did, how can I like you?" Agatha said. Crossing her arms.
"But from the beginning, you weren't like other girls, you always avoided me. Why? What makes you always reject me?"
Agatha rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Isn't it clear enough? Because of your attitude, Director. I find it irritating; I don't like men like you. More precisely, you're not my type. You should know that. Instead of persisting and making me hate you even more."
Cakra chuckled bitterly. But his chest felt tight. "What's lacking in me, Agatha?"
"You're perfect, Director. You have no deficiencies. And you deserve someone better and worthier than me."
"And what if you're the only one suitable for me?"
Agatha smiled faintly. Then she shook her head. "No. You're mistaken. I'm the one who isn't deserving, Director. We just can't be together."
"Because you already like someone else?"
"I don't need to answer that. What's certain is I won't love you. However, I hope you can be happy and find someone who can reciprocate your feelings."
Cakra felt weak. His earlier blazing ambition seemed to have disappeared somewhere, and he slowly released his hold on Agatha's foot.
Then he bowed his head, his heart felt shattered, but he couldn't do anything. Agatha's firm response was more than enough to make him give up.
"I'm sorry," Cakra whispered after that.
Agatha suddenly felt stunned. Especially since the apology felt like a stab to her heart. She felt like a villain for hitting him.
"That night at the bar, I was the one who had evil intentions towards you," Cakra revealed again.
"What? Really? So you're the one who got me drunk? You're insane!" Agatha instantly got angry; her emotions flared up again. Her fists clenched tightly.
"Damn! You're outrageous! How many women have been victims of you, huh?" Agatha snapped loudly. "I can't believe it! I regret hoping for your happiness!"
"Agatha—"
"Sorry, Director. You have to feel this."
Without mercy, Agatha grabbed a stack of five books there and struck it towards Cakra's head. Before long, Cakra lost consciousness again. After that, Agatha regulated her racing breath.
"Finally done. Now I just have to get out of this annoying room."
Agatha was standing in front of the door again. With an effort to try the remaining keys in her hand, she finally found the right key. Before that, Agatha turned back and smiled slyly.
She felt very satisfied seeing the man who had kidnapped her tied up and unconscious.
Without further delay, she immediately turned the doorknob to exit. Just as her hand was about to turn it, the door was opened from the outside. Agatha almost stumbled backward when suddenly she saw Jayden in front of her.
"Agatha!" Jayden exclaimed, reflexively hugging Agatha tightly with his strong hands. As if he couldn't bear the thought of Agatha disappearing.
Ignoring Agatha's possible rebellious response, Jayden was relieved because Agatha was safe, even nestled within his embrace.
Meanwhile, Agatha, unable to speak, remained frozen and unable to blink.
She couldn't reciprocate Jayden's embrace as she was in shock. When several people behind Jayden entered, Agatha wasn't fully conscious yet.
Her heart was still pounding, unsure when it would return to normal.
"Am I dreaming?" Agatha whispered to herself with her thoughts muddled.
Jayden's embrace was tight but also comforting. She could smell Jayden's intoxicating scent.
"Agatha, I was very worried about you. Truly." Jayden couldn't release his hug. He momentarily closed his eyes to calm his mind.
Agatha was stunned. Her throat was dry, and she could only blink normally when she heard Jayden's voice.
Slowly, her awareness returned, and she returned Jayden's hug while patting his back. Comforting him back.
