What's Your Relationship?
"Hey, watch out?!"
Thud! Agatha, who pushed Cakra's body, also fell together on the sidewalk. Agatha was lying on the right side while Cakra was on the left, both immediately grimacing in pain.
"Ow, it hurts," Agatha whispered, looking at the hot afternoon sky.
"How could the motorcyclist just run away like that," scoffed Agatha as she saw the perpetrator immediately flooring the gas.
She quickly sat up, cleaning her slightly dirty clothes and fixing her messy hair. She also tidied up the scattered books that had been thrown around because she had tossed her bag aside.
Meanwhile, Cakra remained frozen in silence. Too shocked by what had just happened. His heart was still beating erratically, torn between the incident where he was almost hit and Agatha's act of saving him.
"Why did you help me?" Cakra blurted out while still lying down. He turned to Agatha, who was about to stand up.
Agatha was just realizing she hadn't checked on Cakra's condition. She approached, then reached out her hand with a neutral expression. "Certainly based on a sense of humanity. And until when do you plan to sleep here?"
Cakra was momentarily stunned by Agatha's different words. He looked at Agatha's outstretched hand for a moment. Then he shifted his gaze to her face.
"Why are you suddenly using formal language? Just now you called me 'you', right?" Cakra raised an eyebrow.
Agatha sighed lazily. She already suspected she would get that question. With the campus starting to get busier with students coming and going, and many pairs of eyes looking in their direction, Agatha quickly withdrew her hand and took a step back. She didn't want to get caught up in campus gossip.
"It seems you can stand on your own, Mr. Director," Agatha said politely. Although her face seemed cold.
Cakra was taken aback for a moment, but then chuckled. Shortly after, he slowly got up while grimacing. The truth was, his wounds were really hurting right now.
But it seemed Agatha had no intention of helping him and just stood there observing.
"Thank you for helping me. Turns out you're not bad either. I thought you would let me get hit," Cakra said gratefully.
"To be honest, I regret helping you," Agatha muttered. She was annoyed at being the center of attention due to her high sense of helping others.
Cakra chuckled lightly. "Hey, talk the way you did when we first met. I'm not comfortable with you using formal language. Our ages are not far apart, Agatha."
"Sorry, but I don't need to consider your feelings. Isn't this the right attitude for a student towards a director? At that time, I wasn't fully aware of myself, so my sincerest apologies for my rudeness," Agatha replied.
Cakra squinted. "Oh my. What's wrong with you, Agatha? Suddenly you've become like this in a few days? I'm worried you ate something wrong."
Agatha suppressed a sigh of irritation. "It seems my business here is done. In that case, excuse me, Mr. Director."
"Hey, wait." Cakra held onto Agatha's arm as the girl turned around. "'Mister', you said? Hey, I'm not your father, Agatha."
Agatha instantly stared sharply. "I respect you, Mr. Director. And please, can you let go of my hand?"
Cakra clenched his jaw, tightening his grip even more. "What's wrong with you? I don't like you speaking so formally. I prefer you to consider us the same age."
Agatha held back a retort, then used her right hand to release Cakra's grip. But apparently, the man looked annoyed and tightened his hold, making Agatha even more uncomfortable.
Especially with many people watching them. Of course, Agatha knew she would be the subject of talk and gossip.
"Do I have to care about that?" Agatha shook her head firmly, then successfully removed his grip.
"No, Sir. I don't care if you like my words or not," she concluded.
When Agatha was about to leave, Cakra, with a mischievous smile, said something unexpected.
"Be careful, Agatha. You might need to save me again. Who knows you could be my personal hero," he said, laughing.
Agatha felt annoyed hearing Cakra's teasing words. "Sorry, this is not the moment for jokes like that. We just had a serious incident," she said firmly, indicating that their safety was a priority, without the need for inappropriate jokes at that time.
Despite Agatha's seriousness, Cakra continued to laugh. "Sorry, Agatha. I was just trying to cheer you up in a slightly inappropriate way, it seems."
Seeing Agatha's annoyed expression, Cakra added, "But your annoyed expression looked really adorable, hahaha!"
His laughter grew louder, as if finding humor in a situation that should have been serious.
With laughter still lingering in the air, Cakra attempted to ease the tension after the earlier incident. While it may have sounded inappropriate, his laughter contained a cheerful tone that lightened the atmosphere.
Agatha snorted in annoyance as Cakra laughed. But suddenly, she was startled when Cakra grabbed her hair. The presence of Cakra's hand made her uncomfortable.
Before she could respond, Jayden suddenly came from behind and embraced her. Agatha, initially surprised, felt relieved when she realized it was Jayden.
Jayden murmured softly as he looked at Cakra. "What happened here?" he asked, his tone not casual.
Cakra released his hold on Agatha's hair with a frustrated expression. "Just trying to encourage her, Jayden. But it seems she doesn't appreciate it," Cakra said with a sardonic laugh.
Agatha, still feeling irritated, snorted softly and replied, "No need, Mr. Director. You know I'm fine."
Jayden reached out to hold Agatha, providing comfort and protection. "Thank you, Mr. Director, but Agatha prefers it when I cheer her up," Jayden said with a warm smile.
Cakra rolled his eyes with a frustrated expression. "As the campus director, I can be more involved than you."
"That's enough, both of you," Agatha cut in firmly, trying to end the increasingly complicated situation.
Jayden just smiled, while Cakra still looked at Agatha with an inscrutable expression. The atmosphere became tense again, but Agatha tried to restore calmness by continuing to smile at Jayden.
Cakra, despite holding back his annoyance, asked curiously, "What's your relationship?"
Jayden, without losing his smile, answered straightforwardly, "We are a loving couple."
Agatha, although still feeling awkward, nodded in agreement. "Yes, Mr. Director, Jayden and I are in a serious relationship."
Cakra frowned, upset that he didn't get the response he had hoped for. "Since when did this happen? I don't know anything about it."
"A while ago," Jayden replied, maintaining his composure. "I fell in love at first sight with her."
Agatha added, "We met each other at a place accidentally."
"Hmph! You two must be pretending! I don't believe it!" Cakra hissed, glaring at Jayden with a hateful look.
Jayden, remaining calm, tried to explain. "This is not pretense. We have decided to have a more serious relationship."
Cakra sneered. "Serious? Do you think I will believe the two of you? I know you're just acting to provoke me!"
Agatha stifled a laugh in her heart at the sight of Cakra's flushed face. "We were brought together by fate. Although it was too sudden and very fast, we do love each other. You might not know what it's like to be in a position like this if you haven't experienced it yourself."
