That's Inappropriate
After being at the apartment with Jayden and Layla for over a month, Agatha continued to be grateful for being in a place she never expected. Despite facing various challenges, Agatha remained thankful to God and her parents up above who always prayed for her.
Unfinished thesis, multiple revisions to get the best results, cleaning the apartment, taking care of and looking after Layla, cooking and washing, she diligently did it all. Almost like being a housewife.
Agatha smiled faintly, her laptop displaying a series of words that made her head ache. But that was nothing compared to what was bothering her even more, making her head spin.
"I've been aloof towards him, but I still can't calm down. The colder I act, the bigger my sense of guilt grows. He's so kind, but the response I give is the opposite."
Agatha exhaled after uttering those words to herself in self-reproach. She decided to close her laptop and lean back in her chair. The class was still quiet for this early morning hour. Ah, it seemed she was too diligent for a final semester student.
"After he realized my sudden change in behavior, what does he think, I wonder?" Agatha continued, obviously referring to her own boss.
"He should already be annoyed and hate me, right?" Agatha fell silent for a moment, suddenly feeling troubled.
"But why did he apologize yesterday? He wasn't at fault. If he hates me, he doesn't need to go to the trouble of doing that. In fact, he shouldn't bother with me at all."
Agatha let out a small sigh. "Could it be that my efforts have not succeeded?"
"Well, it's only been less than a month since I changed my attitude," she added, then let out a heavy sigh.
She hoped that Jonathan's spies had noticed her cold behavior towards Jayden so that he wouldn't fire her. Just as she was about to close her eyes to ease the headache, a tap on her shoulder almost made Agatha curse.
"Hey! It's still morning, Agatha. Don't go back to sleep," scolded Aluna.
Agatha turned irritated. Aluna always appeared out of the blue and had a way of startling her heart. What made Agatha more annoyed was that the girl felt no guilt and instead smiled sweetly.
"Don't make that face. I want to take you somewhere!" Aluna playfully pinched Agatha's cheeks.
"This is just my face, Aluna." Agatha rolled her eyes and furrowed her brow.
"Where do you want to take me? Did you get permission from your parents?" Aluna scratched her neck and smiled sweetly. "Not yet. Actually, I wanted to ask you quietly. It's been so long since we went out together, right? The last time we went to the beach was for a research assignment. Don't you want to try it again?"
Aluna chuckled, recalling the ludicrous moments back then. Agatha, who was initially in a bad mood, couldn't help but burst into laughter. Truly, being friends with Aluna created many pleasant memories they shared.
"But that was a bad decision, Aluna. I swore off it after your mom found out the truth," Agatha shook her head in disbelief. "I got a warning."
"Really? Why didn't I know? You didn't tell me, did you?"
Agatha was taken aback, realizing she had slipped up. She gave a forced grin. "Ah, I must have forgotten?"
Aluna narrowed her eyes. "Are you lying? You deliberately kept it from me, didn't you?"
Agatha quickly shook her head, although her heart was racing. "I really forgot. Seriously."
If she told the truth, Aluna might get angry with her mother, and Agatha would have to face a private meeting with her mother. And it was clear she was asked not to be friends with Aluna anymore because she was caught complaining behind her back.
Aluna let out a long sigh. Then she pursed her lips. "Ugh, you forgetful. What about the other thing? Do you agree with my invitation or not?"
Agatha smiled faintly, feeling relieved. "How could I agree? The risk of being found out is too high, Aluna. Your mother's spies are everywhere."
"Yeah, it's a shame. I almost forgot how possessive my mom is." Aluna heaved a disappointed sigh. But a few seconds later, her eyes sparkled again.
"Hey, I have an idea. How about we go to a cafe after campus? I will request permission, claiming that I need to work on my thesis. Besides, I've run out of ideas since I work on it at home every day. I'm bored and have no friends."
Agatha raised her eyebrows hesitantly. It wasn't a good idea. But she was unsure how to decline when she saw Aluna's enthusiastic face.
"Why not? Can't you?"
"Sorry, it's not that I don't want to. But you know—"
"Busy working so you don't have five minutes to spare for your friend? Is that it?" Aluna's response left Agatha momentarily speechless.
"That's not it, Aluna." Agatha took a deep breath.
Aluna chuckled. Laughing at nothing in particular. "Then what? Are we still friends, Agatha?"
'Why are you talking like that?" Agatha furrowed her brow, feeling annoyed for some reason.
Aluna shook her head and stood up. 'Forget it, I'll find another time. I hope you won't refuse. That is if you still consider me a friend."
Agatha was taken aback. Aluna emphasized the word 'friend' as if she wanted her to hear it clearly. Agatha remained silent, watching Aluna leave the classroom without saying anything.
Agatha clenched her fists, bowed her head, and let out a long breath. "Once again, I can't be open with her. I'm sorry, Aluna. I'm truly not worthy to be called a friend."

Jayden had just received the CCTV footage he had requested from his secretary. He smiled; Rey's performance was truly outstanding. After this, he hoped to find answers to Agatha's behavior towards him.
"You can go."
"Eh, don't you want to tell me?"
Jayden looked up, staring at Rey flatly. "Do you want to meddle in my affairs?"
Rey stumbled, quickly shaking his head before forcing a grin. "Oh, no, Boss. I'll leave now. If you need anything else, I'll come quickly."
Jayden just cleared his throat and let the man leave his office. He then inserted a small flash drive into the computer in front of him. Tapping his fingers on the desk, he waited for the screen to load.
It didn't take long before the screen in front of him finally showed a file. Without further ado, Jayden clicked on the video to play it.
In the first few minutes, everything looked normal. However, as he fast-forwarded, a familiar car on the screen made his eyes widen.
"Wait, why is she there?" Jayden's hands clenched tightly.
"And is Agatha being taken into the car?" Jayden grunted loudly, then roughly rubbed his face.
"Damn! I suspected something was wrong! It turns out, everything started from that moment!" Jayden growled. His gaze turned sharp. He exuded a strong aura of anger.
With emotions running high, he immediately shut down the computer, grabbed his suit jacket, took his phone, and left the room. His steps were fast along the corridor. He hurriedly entered the elevator, ignoring Rey's greetings.
"Boss, are you—"
Rey's words were cut off as the elevator doors closed, leaving him with a sudden feeling of the menacing aura emanating from his boss, even without a word spoken.
"I better not get involved. I might end up in his hands," Rey mumbled resignedly, then went to his room.
