Always There For Me
'But if you refuse, I will definitely make your life miserable," Jonathan continued sternly and emphatically. "Don't think I'm playing around, Jay."
"Darn it! Why do these parents always make me want to curse them!" Jayden muttered in his heart. He remained silent for a few seconds. His mind seemed blank and unable to find an answer.
The only thing he was thinking about at the moment was Layla. If his company really collapsed, he wasn't sure about her future. Although he was quite confident that he could manage the company well without Jonathan's help.
The problem was if that man dared to do something reckless, he would not only lose the company, but also his acquaintances might be swayed and leave him. Jonathan would not allow him to have a business partner that benefited him.
Jonathan let out a light sigh. "You know it yourself, Jayden, this business is necessary. Grace is part of that plan."
"What plan? You can't control my life like this!" Jayden grew angrier, his face turning red.
Jonathan glanced at him coldly. "I'm tired of your complaints. Accept the reality. This decision is unchangeable."
An emotional outburst hit Jayden. He couldn't contain his anger, and with full rage, he voiced his refusal. "I will reject it outright! I will not follow that stupid arranged marriage!"
Jonathan just smirked sardonically. "Fine if that's what you want. Are we done? Get out."
Jayden's face was astonished. But without saying much, he obeyed the man's command. With heavy steps towards the exit, on the threshold, he turned his body, full of anger.
"You will regret it."
Without waiting for a response, Jayden punched the large door in front of him, reflecting the overflowing anger from his heart.
Jonathan laughed silently, his cold eyes watching his son's emotions, which were a source of amusement for him. "You are indeed the most stubborn, Jay," said Jonathan dismissively.
Jayden glared at his father, but chose not to respond with words. He left the main house with steps filled with hatred and despair. Jonathan remained seated calmly, enjoying the drama that had just unfolded.
Outside the house, Jayden groaned in frustration, running his fingers through his hair in frustration. The night sky witnessed the overflowing frustration in him, and his heavy steps reflected his resistance to his father's decision.
"Darn it! Darn it! Darn it!" Jayden muttered as he headed to his car. His curses were loud, reflecting his unbridled anger and dissatisfaction.
"I will not obey his ridiculous orders! I have to do something!" Jayden firmly thought to himself as he sat in the car. His resistance plan began to take shape in his mind, glowing with unwavering determination.
Jayden then immediately bought alcohol to vent his emotions. He bought it in an unusually large quantity, although he rarely consumed alcoholic drinks unless he was stressed.
This action reflected how shaken Jayden's feelings were and his need to calm himself.
Arriving at his apartment, Jayden intended to immediately drink the alcohol he had just bought. However, he unexpectedly met Agatha. Both were equally surprised.
Jayden thought Agatha was already asleep because it was late at night, while Agatha, who had not yet slept, was surprised to see Jayden carrying many bottles of alcohol.
Their faces reflected confusion and surprise, creating tension in the calm night air. "Oh, Agatha? Sorry, I thought you were already asleep," Jayden spoke first.
Agatha was surprised. "Jayden? I thought you would come home late."
Jayden smiled awkwardly. "Yes, it seems that tonight is not going according to plan. I just need something to relieve stress."
Agatha looked at the bottles of alcohol in Jayden's hand with furrowed eyebrows. "Isn't this a bit excessive? You're not used to drinking like this."
Jayden sighed softly. "Right, this has been quite a bad night. Everything really makes me upset."
Agatha shook her head firmly. "Jayden, this isn't a healthy way to deal with problems. Alcohol won't make everything better. It's better to find a solution with a clear head."
Jayden was slightly surprised by that response. He gave a bitter smile. "Agatha, I know I'm not usually like this, but tonight has been really tough for me."
Agatha then forcibly grabbed the bottle. "That's not a valid reason to consume alcohol in such a large quantity. You must think about Layla too. What will she think if she sees you like this?"
Jayden jolted, but then pondered and bowed his head. "I... I didn't think."
Agatha let out a firm exhale. "I won't let you drink this, Jayden. We both have to find a better way to deal with this issue. Tell me what's on your mind."
Agatha then firmly put away the alcohol bottles, giving Jayden a stern look that made him aware of his actions.
Agatha, who was already emotional, did not care about the not-so-cheap price of the alcohol. For her, health was far more important.
Jayden was taken aback, but then realized that it was indeed time to share the burden. He held his aching head and settled into a chair at the dining table. Agatha did the same, sitting in front of the man.
"So, what's going on?" Agatha asked with care.
Jayden, after a brief reflection, began to talk about his unwanted arranged marriage. He shared all the disappointment, anger, and confusion he felt. Agatha listened with empathy, trying to provide the necessary support and advice.
"Isn't that man truly insane? How can he jeopardize me for his business?" Jayden chuckled bitterly.
But his jaw clenched, and his emotions resurfaced, leaving behind a profound sense of disappointment. Agatha continued to listen with empathy, absorbing every word that came out of Jayden's lips.
"I don't know what to do to help you, but it's better if you calm yourself first," Agatha said softly, trying to encourage Jayden to manage his emotions.
"What should I do, Agatha? I clearly don't want this marriage to happen. I'm worried about Layla's feelings," Jayden lamented, seeking advice from Agatha.
"It's already late at night, it's better to think about it tomorrow. I'll help you find a way out. Trust me," Agatha said confidently, offering support and a promise to help Jayden find a solution to his problem.
Jayden was surprised, but then smiled. Instantly, his heart felt calm hearing that response from Agatha. As if he was now feeling fine.
Sometimes, just having someone listen and provide support is enough to lighten the burden one carries.
Jayden smiled genuinely. "Thank you, Agatha. Your words truly calm me down. I'm very grateful that you're here to listen and support me."
"It's my duty. You have helped me a lot in resolving issues. You don't need to thank me until your problem is solved," Agatha replied warmly.
Jayden smiled. His heart felt warm. "Can I cry? You've touched me."
Agatha chuckled softly. "You're exaggerating."
Jayden continued to smile. "But seriously, you are the only one who is always there for me. I am fortunate to have met you, Agatha."
Agatha's heart raced, but she remained calm and smiled. "We can help each other, Jayden. We can support each other. And now, let's think together about how to solve this problem tomorrow."
The two of them continued their conversation, seeking a way out of the issue haunting Jayden, together through a night filled with struggles and support.
