To Become My Mother
Jayden raised one eyebrow, but then smiled amusedly, why did he like the annoyed look on the girl's face?
Jayden wondered to himself. Even from the beginning when he saw Agatha, something about the girl had drawn him in.
"I'm just not sure you're telling the truth," Jayden replied calmly, shrugging his shoulders.
Agatha was about to get annoyed, but hearing that unexpected answer clearly made her melt.
She just snorted softly to cover up her prideful smile. Jayden's answer was clearly convoluted, but it contained a meaning that made Agatha's heart flutter.
"You'll be amazed by the results of my cooking."
"Alright, I can't wait to give my assessment." Jayden smiled unconsciously as he continued to watch Agatha who was busy.
Agatha herself had been holding her breath occasionally. Being stared at by Jayden made her heart uneasy. Even though Jayden was just standing silently with his arms crossed, leaning against the kitchen pantry.
Agatha repeatedly reminded herself that she was here to work.
Yes, what she was doing now was earning a living. She must not think of anything else.
Yes, that's how it should be. But Agatha had already fallen. Fallen in love.
"Aunt, the eggs are done. What should I do next?" Layla suddenly said.
Agatha finally let out a slight sigh of relief. At least Layla made the situation less awkward. Agatha then approached Layla and looked at the perfectly scrambled eggs in the bowl. She smiled widely and took it.
"That's enough, Layla. You have to take a bath and get ready. If you're late, you might be late."
The sweet Layla automatically pouted her lips. "Aw, I still want to help Aunt."
Agatha chuckled softly while affectionately ruffling Layla's hair. "This alone is already enough help, you know."
"She can do it herself, Layla. Isn't Aunt Agatha great?" Jayden chimed in, making Agatha blink and glance at him briefly.
Layla was silent for a moment, then looked at Agatha, who was shaking her head as if she didn't agree with Jayden's praise. But Layla didn't think so. She just nodded.
"That's true. Aunt Agatha is cooler than Dad," Layla praised.
Agatha was taken aback for a moment, while Jayden widened his eyes and straightened up. "Wow, you've already dared to compare me to your dad?"
"Of course! Because I'm a brave child!"
Layla stuck out her tongue with a cheerful laugh and ran out of the kitchen. Agatha saw the cuteness and clearly smiled amusedly. Children are always so adorable, she thought.
"Do you really not need any help?" Jayden asked as Agatha returned to the stove and started frying the eggs.
"No, I'm an expert in kitchen matters."
Jayden nodded in understanding. "Alright. I'll also get ready for work. If there's anything, you can call me."
"Yes, thank you."
Agatha answered with a brief nod without intonation. When Jayden had already left the kitchen, she turned her head.
Agatha then took a deep breath, exhaling slowly with the remaining palpitations in her heart.
Agatha gave a small smile, continuing with a murmur. "Thank you for the attention that makes my heart flutter."
"Didn't expect my cooking skills would be useful here too," she continued in her mind.
With Agatha's skills, which could be considered professional since she had been used to living alone for a long time, the breakfast menu was completed without difficulty.
Agatha walked to the dining table to join Jayden and Layla who had just sat down.
"Tada! Simple fried rice à la Chef Agatha is ready!" Agatha lifted a large plate of her cooking with a wide smile.
"Wow! This is the most beautiful fried rice I've ever seen!" Layla exclaimed when Agatha placed the fried rice on the table. Her eyes shone with amazement.
Agatha chuckled, carefully scooping the fried rice into the small bowl that Anna offered. "Please enjoy, Miss Layla."
Jayden also looked at Agatha's cooking with admiration. This was the first time a woman had cooked for him and Layla.
And on Agatha's first day of work, she had already made him confident that this would be good for Layla going forward.
"Your plating is also great. Like in restaurants." Jayden praised with a smile he had never shown to any woman before.
Agatha's face actually heated up when she heard that praise come from the handsome Jayden. Luckily she had already placed the plate on the table, or else it could have fallen and broken.
"What do you think? Rating 1-5, how much?" Agatha asked as she sat down in front of Jayden. Layla was in the middle.
The beautiful girl immediately raised all five of her fingers enthusiastically. "I give it a five, Aunt! It's very delicious!"
Agatha chuckled and clapped her hands lightly. "Wow, I'm so happy. Thank you, Layla."
"You're welcome, Aunt!" Layla continued eating her food eagerly.
Agatha was so pleased to see it, then she turned to Jayden who was also enjoying the food. "And you, Jayden?"
"I like the plating, but the taste..." Jayden paused for a moment. "It seems not enough if it's just a 5 rating."
Again, Jayden didn't give Agatha's heart a chance to beat normally. Agatha even had to hold her breath for a few seconds, so flustered.
"Really? You have to be honest when giving an assessment. I might get carried away if I misunderstand."
Agatha was sure her tone just now was the calmest, but she didn't know what Jayden was thinking because the man was smiling strangely now.
"What do you mean, Dad? Why is it not enough for 5?" Layla suddenly spoke up, her brow furrowed in confusion as she continued chewing.
Jayden swallowed the fried rice in his mouth, the perfect and complete blend of flavors. Agatha's simple cooking almost surpassed the menu of a five-star restaurant.
Then the corners of Jayden's lips curved upwards. "The taste is too delicious, it should be a 10-star."
Agatha had never felt so elated just because of a compliment. Because of her many talents, words of praise had become a common thing.
But when that praise came from Jayden Byanthara, Agatha could hardly speak because she was too happy.
"Did I hear that right?" Agatha even stammered. As if butterflies were tickling her stomach.
"I didn't expect you to be so suitable in this field." Jayden looked up, his gaze meeting Agatha's expression. He then cleared his throat softly.
"I mean, I'm also happy that I can finally eat home-cooked food after so long."
Consider Agatha overdramatic, but she couldn't hold back her murmur in her heart. "Ah, has the initial stage already started to succeed? Am I worthy enough to be a good life partner?"
Agatha smiled softly and gently. Her heart was truly warming. "Thank you, I'm very flattered. I'm grateful that you can enjoy the results of my cooking."
"Aunt, suddenly I thought of something." Layla put down her spoon to the side of the plate, then took a sip of her favorite chocolate milk.
"Hm? What is it, Layla?"
Agatha turned to her with a furrowed brow. Jayden also glanced at Layla briefly out of curiosity.
"Why don't you become my mom? Aunt is very good at cooking, it seems Dad also likes a woman who can cook for him every day."
