Future New Mom
Jonathan's laughter echoed crisply. Ignoring Jayden's words, he stood proudly in front of his son. "So, where did you pick up that pretty but rustic girl?"
"Watch your words." The muscles in Jayden's hands tense as Jonathan's gaze becomes more contemptuous.
"So, you're even bringing women from the streets for that illegitimate child? What will become of that child in the future? But I really don't care about his future anyway," Jonathan said, laughing.
In a burst of anger, Jayden rudely grabbed the collar of the man in front of him. His eyes pierced sharply. His jaw clenched with his mouth now spewing harsh curses.
"Don't interfere in my affairs, Mr. Respected Jonathan. You have no right to utter cruel words towards anyone associated with me."
"Oh, yes? I'm your father if you've forgotten. You ungrateful child," Jonathan scoffed without resistance.
Jayden tightened his grip. "Have you forgotten? Since you married that woman and brought a madman into this house, I no longer see you as a father. Wouldn't it be better for you to take care of your harmonious family and your favorite child rather than bothering about my life?"
Jonathan let out a small chuckle from his mouth. He considered Jayden's words mere jest. He calmly gazed at his biological son without a hint of emotion.
"You should be grateful that I still think about your future. Don't you know that being involved with a poor woman will bring misfortune? Furthermore, who wouldn't want to be part of the Byhantara family? All women desire it. I know, in her mind, she must have already planned something."
An irritated expression crossed Jayden's face. Suddenly remembering something, he forcibly pulled at Jonathan's collar.
Talking with this man would be futile. He regretted exploding his anger earlier.
"Even though you two have no feelings right now, someday she will manage to seduce you. Lowlife women are very smart when it comes to luring wealthy men," Jonathan continued, smiling mischievously while tidying his slightly disheveled clothes.
Jayden took a step back, then took a deep breath. Calming his anger and ignoring Jonathan's words, he returned to his original purpose. He didn't want to cause a commotion in this house.
"I don't know why you hate that woman so much. But I don't care about your nauseating talk. Because I will live according to my own choices. Even if you consider me disobedient, that's better than being a proud child living in hell."
"Oh my, Jay. Your words hurt my heart deeply. Unexpectedly, you dared to defy me," Jonathan replied with a feigned disappointed face.
Jonathan then sighed, nodding his head. "Fine, just wait to see what I'll do because you chose to be a disobedient child."
Jayden's lips tightened, no longer responding. He walked away from the man. Meanwhile, Jonathan's previously calm expression instantly turned cold.
A moment later, he slammed the dining table and dropped things on it like a madman.
"You damned child! Can't he obey my words?!"

After cleaning Layla's clothes by sprinkling water on the vomited area, and washing her face in the bathroom.
Now the girl invited Agatha to her grandmother's room. She also changed her clothes there because Layla's clothes were intentionally kept by her grandmother in case she stayed over.
Agatha tightly held Layla's hand as they walked side by side. She could finally relax now that the girl had calmed down after crying in the bathroom a while ago. Agatha understood Layla's feelings; the girl must have been shocked by the man's threat.
"Shall we go to grandmother's room?"
Suddenly Kinara's voice was heard, making Agatha stop and turn around. Kinara was quickly approaching. The woman then smiled as she reached Agatha and Layla.
"I'll join you. The atmosphere there was spooky," Kinara said, surprising Agatha. She thought the woman could pacify her husband, but apparently, she escaped instead.
"Come, grandmother will be happy to see you both." Kinara immediately took Agatha's hand without waiting for her response.
Agatha was startled by the sudden pull but didn't object and could only comply. She glanced at Layla, who remained silent and kept walking.
Her face looked drained, almost pale. But after a few seconds, when they arrived in front of a bedroom door, Agatha noticed a change in the girl's expression.
Unexpectedly, Layla turned to her with a smile. It seemed the girl was very happy to meet her grandmother. Agatha smiled back and gently patted her head after Kinara let go of their hands to open the door.
"Mother, look who I brought here." Kinara had already entered and approached a woman sitting on the bed.
"Grandma!"
Layla called out, her eyes sparkling. While dragging Agatha to approach. Meanwhile, Kinara stepped aside slightly so Layla could feel comfortable.
She was well aware that Layla didn't like being near her. Unbeknownst to her, Agatha noticed Layla's behavior.
Sarah, seeing Layla hugging her tightly, burst into laughter. "Oh my, so it's the beautiful granddaughter who came? How are you, dear?"
"I'm fine. But I missed you so much," Layla replied, then released her hug and pouted.
"Even grandma came into my dreams," she continued, which was met with a small laugh from Sarah.
"Oh, the sweetness. It's been a month since you last came here. I missed you a lot too," Sarah squeezed Layla's right cheek playfully. The girl grinned widely.
"Forgive me, Grandma. Dad's been very busy, so he couldn't come," Layla responded despondently.
Sarah giggled fondly. "Alright, I'll forgive you this time."
Agatha couldn't help but smile at their interaction; she also felt a warm and calming aura around her. It was different from the cold and tense atmosphere at the dining table earlier.
"Thank you, Grandma," Layla smiled sweetly. Then she pulled Agatha's hand, who was standing behind her along with Kinara.
"Oh, Grandma. I also brought someone beautiful!"
Sarah looked at Agatha, furrowing her brows. "Wow, who is this, Layla? The future new mom, right?"
Agatha's eyes widened upon hearing the woman's guess. But before she could respond, Layla answered first, which startled Agatha even more.
"Not yet for now. But I hope one day she'll become my mom."
Agatha immediately looked at Layla, who smiled innocently at her. She took a deep breath. Seeing Sarah, Agatha was stunned; apparently, the woman was trying to hold back her laughter.
"Oh, sorry. I'm just Layla's caretaker. This girl loves to joke around a lot," Agatha replied awkwardly, smiling.
Sarah nodded calmly. "That's alright. I don't hinder anyone from being a new mother to Layla. If this girl likes you, I can't possibly disagree."
"Eh, really? I'm sorry?" Agatha couldn't contain her surprise. She widened her eyes once again. The response was truly unexpected for her.
Sarah chuckled at Agatha's expression, finding it amusing. "I'm serious. Jayden should find a partner again. He's been lonely for a long time."
Agatha swallowed hard. Suddenly, her face flushed. Why, when she was trying to forget her feelings for the man, did someone support and give her the green light?
"She's right, Agatha. Jayden needs a life partner again. And because you've managed to make Layla like you, isn't this a great opportunity? Jayden will do anything for Layla's happiness."
Agatha's body tensed; she was even more stunned by Kinara's words just now. Agatha didn't expect that the woman, who was Jonathan's wife, would approve. Especially when her husband had belittled her completely.
"You don't dislike me?" Unconsciously, Agatha turned around and looked at Kinara in disbelief.
Kinara frowned momentarily, then smiled as she realized something. "I'm not like my husband. You seem kind and genuine. Of course, I like you. In fact, I want to be closer to you."
Agatha was speechless. Kinara's face didn't show any signs of falsehood. Her smile was genuine. Her gaze didn't seem hostile.
"So, your name is Agatha? Are you a student or a worker?" Sarah interjected in the middle of the brief silence as she approached.
Agatha turned back to face Sarah. Feeling that this wasn't the time to be in shock after what just happened, she nodded and smiled politely.
"Ah, yes, my name is Agatha. I'm a final semester student and also working."
Sarah nodded in understanding. She then glanced at Layla sitting beside her, raising her eyebrows as she noticed the slightly damp clothes.
"Did something just happen to you, Layla?" Sarah touched the wet area. Suddenly, her concern arose.
Layla finally remembered. So happy to see her grandmother, she forgot to change her clothes. "Oh, yes. This is from my vomit. Are my clothes still here?"
"Oh my, are you sick? Why didn't you say earlier? Your clothes are still in the wardrobe. Quickly change so you don't catch a cold."
Layla grinned. "I'm healthy, Grandma. Thank you for worrying about me. I'll go change my clothes now. Can I borrow Aunt Agatha for a bit?"
Sarah withheld a smile, then playfully ruffled Layla's hair. "Sure, Beautiful. She's your future new mom, after all."
Agatha's face turned red. She had been calm enough before. But once again, she felt her heart rate increase.
After Layla got off the bed, she took Agatha to the dressing room there. Kinara and Sarah smiled as they noticed Agatha blushing.
Meanwhile, Agatha pondered deeply in her heart. "I have received blessings from two important people for Jayden. Can I hope for more?"
