I'd Rather Choose You
"What does it mean?"
Agatha thought after drinking, her nervous feeling disappeared, only to turn around and find Jayden smiling ever so lightly, but she could sense that it was charming - instantly Agatha's heart started beating fast.
Unaware that Agatha was looking at his smile, Jayden remained calm. "He must be holding you back to keep you working there because he doesn't want to lose you. Although he used a different sentence that implies if you leave, his cafe won't run well, but that's just his excuse."
Agatha fell silent for a moment, not because of Jayden's response, but because she was transfixed staring at the man's face even from the side. She had never felt this deeply in love with a man before.
The almost perfect facial features were the second reason Agatha liked him, but there was something else in Jayden that made him charming and melted her heart without being asked.
"No, it can't be that he likes me."
Agatha quickly shifted her gaze ahead to restrain herself from acting crazy in front of her beloved.
"As a man, I can tell," Jayden replied seriously, vividly recalling the expression of Agatha's former boss when he arrived.
Agatha remained still, then took a long breath. She was indeed surprised, but not because of the fact that Noah liked her, making her happy or nervous, but because she was confused as she thought that indifferent men like Noah were loyal to only one woman.
Agatha chuckled softly. "Boss Noah is already engaged. How could he be that kind of man?"
Jayden's eyes widened, startled and immediately turned. "Really?"
As Agatha nodded, his chest suddenly surged with emotions and his jaw tightened.
Jayden couldn't help but curse inwardly, "Damn bastard."
Agatha glanced briefly, seeing Jayden trying to contain his annoyance, she then smiled thinly and looked ahead again. "Maybe you're mistaken, there's no way he could like me."
Jayden fell silent, a few moments of quiet. Agatha didn't understand the meaning behind the question. But she didn't respond and just waited for Jayden to continue.
"What about you?"
Agatha turned, her eyebrow raised, not understanding. "Me? Why?"
"Yes, do you like him?"
Jayden stared straight, actually not prepared if Agatha turned out to feel the same way as Noah.
"No. He's not my type. Even if he's not engaged, I still wouldn't like him," Agatha answered honestly.
Because during her time working there, Noah was already considered by Agatha as her own brother.
Agatha then smiled while continuing to observe the busy streets. "I'm a woman who isn't easily attracted to men."
If he could, Jayden would want to smile broadly and look at Agatha with relief. But that was impossible, as it was clear that Jayden would only make Agatha uncomfortable.
So Jayden chose to stay neutral. He put on a calm face, then nodded in understanding.
"That's good. The right decision. Women who have that kind of trait are indeed rare," praised Jayden, without Agatha knowing that it was not just empty words.
"If it's true that Boss Noah likes me, I'm actually grateful because now I don't work there. I might be mistaken as the other woman by his fiance if he's seen paying attention to me."
Agatha chuckled imagining how unlucky she would be if that happened.
Jayden was truly relieved. He felt so happy because Agatha didn't like Noah, whom he admitted was quite handsome.
Jayden suddenly felt lucky knowing Agatha's response to Noah if he ever expressed his feelings.
"I like that answer," Jayden replied, holding back a smile.
Agatha cleared her throat softly, suddenly blushing. "Ah, yes. It's already late. Anna is still sleeping, right? She must be very tired after school."
"She diverted the conversation, didn't she?"
Jayden replied in his mind, but secretly held back a smile at Agatha's cuteness. The girl he initially thought was a tomboy turned out to be sweet as well.

Jayden stopped his car as he arrived in the apartment parking lot. He glanced at the girl beside him, who was closing her eyes and appeared peaceful. Jayden smiled slightly and then gently tapped Agatha's shoulder.
"Agatha, wake up. We've arrived," Jayden said softly, afraid his voice would startle Agatha.
The tap from Jayden turned out to be effective. Agatha, who was originally lost in her dream, blinked and opened her eyes slowly.
After gathering her senses, she turned to Jayden, then quickly straightened up.
"Oh my, did I just fall asleep? Why didn't I realize?"
"You looked tired, so I deliberately didn't wake you up so you could rest," explained Jayden, then got out of the car and opened the back door to carry Layla. As usual, Jayden intentionally didn't wake her up.
Agatha was stunned, not expecting Jayden's non-angry response. "Thank you. I rarely can sleep soundly."
Jayden simply nodded briefly, walked in first and stood in the elevator. The two of them sank into their own thoughts.
Upon arriving at their apartment, Jayden went in with Agatha's help as she held the door open, not wanting Layla to be disturbed from her sleep if they separated.
"Isn't Layla supposed to take a bath? Shouldn't she be woken up?" Agatha asked as she took off her shoes and placed them on a rack near the entrance.
Jayden shook his head, he took Layla directly to her room and laid her down. Agatha followed silently behind him.
"She'll wake up on her own, if woken up while still sleepy, she might be in a bad mood because she'll get a headache," Jayden explained.
Agatha nodded in understanding, she had never thought of that before. Suddenly, she was impressed by Jayden's parenting style. Agatha didn't take her eyes off Jayden as he carefully made the bed for Layla.
"You take a shower, then you can tidy up the room. I have to go back to the office around six," Jayden instructed as he turned around and saw Agatha leaning against the edge of Layla's room door.
"You're working at night?" Agatha couldn't hide her surprise.
"I have to work overtime, you take care of Layla," Jayden replied as he removed his watch.
Agatha felt something was wrong. She couldn't shake off her worry, instead of curiosity enveloping her.
"Is it like this every day? When do you get to rest?"
"Starting today and for the next few days, I won't be sleeping in the apartment, I'll be staying at the office and coming back in the morning to bring Layla. Your task is to accompany Layla while I'm away," Jayden explained.
Agatha nodded in understanding. "You're so busy, huh? It's not that it's a big deal, it's just that health is important. Lack of rest can make the body sick. It was you who said that I shouldn't get hurt, but what about yourself?"
Jayden sat on the sofa not far from Layla's bed. "A man's body is stronger than a woman's, you don't need to worry. Layla is already used to seeing me work late, but now I'm not worried anymore because you're here. Before, I asked Layla to stay at her grandmother's house to sleep."
"Isn't it a problem for her not to meet her grandmother today?" Agatha asked hesitantly, turning to Jayden next to her who was focused on his phone.
"She chose to be with you. I told you, I need you because Layla likes you," Jayden replied.
Agatha nodded in readiness to comply with whatever he asked as Jayden was her boss. But don't ask how nervous she was at the moment.
Given a task by a well-known person, this was also the first time Agatha was entrusted with taking care of a wealthy person's child.
