Chapter 14: Honeymoon
The wedding ceremony was over and all the guests had left the wedding hall. Mrs. Rose, who had kept her distance all this time, finally approached the couple.
"Congratulations on your wedding. I thought you were just bluffing," Mrs. Rose said angrily.
"Thank you for your wishes. I thought you weren't coming," Bryan replied curtly.
"Why shouldn't I come? After all, I am your mother. Legally speaking," she retorted.
"I didn't say you couldn't come. I thought you didn't want to come because my marriage is not what you want. Oh, I forgot, but you got what you wanted, didn't you? Anyway, I apologize for not attending your inauguration ceremony," Bryan replied, feeling victorious.
"Hah... anyway, I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart. How did you find such a woman? I've prepared a gift for you; I hope you like it."
"Thank you," Angeline replied quietly. Mrs. Rose gave her a cynical look, then turned and left without saying goodbye with a sullen expression on her face.
"Mr. President, your car is ready," John said. Bryan nodded and watched Mrs. Rose leave with an unreadable expression on his face.
Was it a face of joy because he had married the woman of his choice, or was it a wary one? In any case, Bryan knew that Mrs. Rose wouldn't just sit back and relax, even if she got the position in the company she wanted.
Not wanting to dwell on his thoughts, Bryan invited Angeline to leave. A car was waiting for them. Angeline got in first, followed by Bryan. There was no bouquet toss; Angeline was still holding the wedding bouquet.
Angeline looked tired, and as their car began to move, she slumped back in her seat.
"Oh my, it turns out that weddings are so exhausting," Angeline muttered, looking out the window with a sullen expression on her face.
Bryan looked at the tired Angeline and reached for a bottle of mineral water to give her. But once again Bryan stopped himself and took a sip instead. Angeline turned and saw Bryan drinking, and her look caused Bryan to accidentally spray water out of his mouth and choke.
"Oh my, can't you drink properly?" Angeline asked in surprise as she handed Bryan a handkerchief. She even patted Bryan on the back as he continued to cough.
"I'm fine," Bryan brushed Angeline's hand away.
"Okay, I was just worried you'd end up in the hospital from choking."
"Are you teasing me?"
"No, I'm just concerned."
Bryan fell silent, feeling a slight warmth in his face from Angeline's words. Nervously, he picked up his tablet and pretended to read work documents.
"But... where are we going?" Angeline asked, confused because their car was not going home.
"On our honeymoon," Bryan answered casually.
"WHAT?" Angeline exclaimed in shock, causing Bryan to give her an irritated look.
"Ah, sorry, I was just surprised."
Bryan couldn't believe Angeline's reaction, whether she was pretending not to know or was really shocked. Obviously this was very unexpected.
"But I'm not ready, and I've just recovered from my illness. Does it have to be so soon?" Angeline asked and got a sharp look from Bryan.
Bryan and Angeline arrived at the airport where several assistants escorted them to a VIP waiting room. There they changed into more casual clothes. Their flight was scheduled to leave in thirty minutes.
Bryan was already absorbed in his work, while Angeline sipped her tea to calm herself.
"Oh, I don't have my clothes packed yet. Can we go home first-"
"Are you kidding?" Bryan interrupted.
"But-"
"Don't worry, everything is prepared," John interrupted, hearing Angeline's concern.
"You got my clothes from home? You know what I need? It's not just clothes, but cosmetics and-"
"We've prepared everything. New clothes for you, Mrs. Wilson. Not just clothes, but everything you might need while you're there," John explained, surprising Angeline.
It wasn't that John had prepared all the clothes and other necessities. It was his use of "Mrs. Wilson" that caught Angeline off guard. Angeline suddenly realized that her status had changed. From Miss Angeline, she had become Mrs. Wilson.
"Your plane will be landing shortly, Mr. President."
Bryan rose from his seat and prepared to leave, but Angeline remained seated, lost in thought.
"What are you doing? Hurry up!" Bryan ordered, snapping Angeline out of her reverie.
"Oh... right."
Angeline followed Bryan from behind as they walked to the plane. She looked at Bryan's broad back and felt nervous. This made it impossible for her to look directly at Bryan, so she quickly looked away.
Both of them were now in Bryan's private plane. Angeline still couldn't believe it and was amazed because it was her first time to fly in such a luxurious private plane. The VIP area was reserved just for the two of them, while the rest of the staff was in a separate area.
Even John didn't sit with them. Flight attendants came and served snacks to both of them. Since Angeline hadn't eaten all day due to her upset stomach, she devoured all the snacks, including a soda. This ended up upsetting her stomach even more and made her feel nauseous.
Angeline tried to hold back the nausea, but eventually she couldn't stand it anymore. She got out of her seat just as an announcement was made that the plane was about to land and passengers were asked to fasten their seat belts.
"Ma'am, please return to your seat and fasten your seatbelt," the flight attendant asked when she saw Angeline walking uncomfortably.
Instead of complying, Angeline shook her head and couldn't hold back the urge to vomit.
"Ma'am, please go back to your seat," the flight attendant insisted, trying to get Angeline to sit down.
Bryan, sitting next to her, looked irritated. He was annoyed that Angeline wasn't following the announced protocol.
"Hey, go back to your seat," Bryan ordered, but Angeline shook her head again. She couldn't hold back her nausea any longer and covered her mouth tightly.
"Ma'am, please return to your seat," the flight attendant urged, trying to pull Angeline back to her seat.
But before she could get Angeline back to her seat, Bryan touched Angeline's shoulder and she couldn't hold on any longer. A stream of vomit erupted from her stomach and splashed onto Bryan's face and clothes.
"Ugh... my goodness. Why did you stop me in the bathroom? I couldn't hold it anymore!" Angeline exclaimed in obvious frustration. A moment later, however, she felt guilty and looked at Bryan with a remorseful expression.
"I'm sorry," Angeline said and reached for a handkerchief to wipe Bryan's face. But Bryan rejected her with irritation, leaving Angeline silent and afraid.
