Chapter 66 - A Choice
Bryan received news of the gossip from John. Bryan was very angry because Madam Rose had crossed the line again. After starting the gossip about Angeline cheating a while ago, Madam Rose was now hurting Angeline again by accusing her of stealing someone else's girlfriend.
"How could Madam Rose do such a thing again? Wasn't it enough once?" Bryan said angrily.
"Mr. President, perhaps it's because many people have noticed your closeness with Miss Sera. After all, many people here are like Madam Rose, ready to report everything that happens," John hinted.
"What are you talking about? Do you have hidden motives?" Bryan guessed the meaning behind John's words, even though he didn't understand what John was trying to convey.
"Mr. President, you must be decisive. Don't hang both women like this. Yesterday you were kind to Mrs. Angeline, today you're with Miss Sera. What about your heart? Will you... go back to Miss Sera?" Bryan fell silent, pondering.
"To be honest, I don't understand Sera's attitude. She knows you're married, and she even acted as if she didn't want to get close to you anymore. But why did she suddenly change like that? Why... is she getting close to you again?" John continued, feeling very frustrated with Sera's behavior.
Although John knew that Madam Rose might have something to do with all of this, Sera's attitude still had a significant impact on everything that happened today.
"Mr. President... Mrs. Angeline... reporters are approaching," John said, surprising Bryan.
"Where is Angeline now?" Bryan asked, hurrying to find Angeline.
Angeline was walking toward the bus stop, with Alex still at her side.
"I can go home by myself, you should go back to the cafe," Angeline said with a sad expression on her face.
"I can't leave you like this. What if they come back? I can drive you home," Alex insisted. Angeline shook her head.
Alex sighed in frustration; he really didn't understand why Angeline was acting this way. Alex approached and stopped Angeline. He looked at her with compassion as Angeline tried to hold back tears.
Suddenly, a car stopped nearby and they both turned around in surprise. Bryan got out of the car and immediately took Angeline's hand.
"Get in, I'll take you home," Bryan said, looking at Alex coldly.
"How did you know I was here?" Angeline asked in surprise.
"I can't explain it now; we have to go home," Bryan said, and Angeline obeyed. After saying goodbye to Alex, Angeline got into the car.
"Thanks for helping my wife. Next time I'll be the one to protect her," Bryan said curtly and was about to get into the car.
"You better protect her, not just watch her. Don't make me do it for you," Alex half-threatened. Bryan gave him a sharp look, said nothing and left Alex behind.
In the car, Bryan and Angeline were both silent. Their situation was difficult to explain. On the one hand, Angeline was Bryan's legal wife, married not because of what the reporters said.
On the other hand, Bryan still had feelings for Sera, even though they had broken up years ago. But now she was back in his life. Bryan's indecision had made the situation chaotic and uncontrollable.
"Do you... want to listen to the radio?" Bryan asked, trying to break the awkwardness between them. Angeline just nodded her head.
Bryan turned on the car radio and the voice of a radio host came through.
"All right, let's read the next story sent in by a listener. Lately, my partner has been seeing her ex again. They spend a lot of time together, and I know that my partner used to love her ex very much. So I forgave them a couple of times, but I caught my partner spending the night with her ex. Should I forgive my partner? Wow... your story is so dramatic. But why forgive a partner who cheats because it will become a habit. So, ladies, don't marry men like that, because you're just going to keep getting hurt.
Angeline and Bryan exchanged glances, as if both stung by the listener's story and the radio host's response.
"What kind of show is this?" Bryan asked and changed the radio channel. Now they heard music.
"I like this music," Bryan said awkwardly, trying to move his body to the rhythm of the song. However, it turned out that the lyrics of the song contained the phrase 'I'm cheating'.
They both felt uncomfortable when they heard it again.
"Ah, this song text seems problematic. It's better not to listen," Bryan said, feeling offended, and changed the radio channel again.
"No more songs, this radio host has a nice voice. He sounds like a singer," Bryan said, trying not to feel embarrassed.
"An indecisive man who tries to keep two women at the same time will eventually seek as many women as possible by his side. Such men will never be satisfied," the radio host discussed a hot topic.
Bryan and Angeline's expressions changed again as the radio host's words seemed to reflect their situation.
"Why are they talking about such unimportant things?" Bryan commented. Angeline chose to remain silent, not commenting at all.
"Women who live with men like this should be prepared for heartbreak. So it's better to break up," the host continued.
"I don't understand why all the radio shows are so weird today," Bryan said and decided to just turn on the CD player and choose a song. As the music played, they both seemed pleased. Angeline swayed gently to the rhythm of the music, and Bryan also seemed pleased because this time there was no lyric that could offend him.
"This song is good because it fits the current weather," Bryan said again. Angeline just smiled and enjoyed the music.
Unexpectedly, in the middle of the music, there was a verse that repeatedly mentioned Sera-Sera-Sera. The verse went on and on and got louder and louder. Bryan panicked, feeling increasingly uncomfortable because Angeline had to hear Sera's name in the lyrics of the song. He became nervous.
"Where is the stop button? Why is this so complicated?"
Unable to stop the song with the stop button, Bryan resorted to hitting the portable music player in his car. The music stopped instantly. Angeline smiled, amused by Bryan's actions, which seemed to protect his feelings.
Rain began to fall as they arrived at the house. Bryan and Angeline shared an umbrella.
"It's better if you go back to work now and I'll go inside," Angeline said, trying to hold back Bryan who was about to enter the house with her.
"I'll walk you in," Bryan insisted. But suddenly Sera appeared.
"Bryan, I went to the office earlier and they said you'd already gone home. I missed you so much," Sera said with a smile, ignoring Angeline's presence.
