Chapter 77 - Memories That Come
At home, Grandma fell ill when she heard about Bryan's accident. But she was even worse when she heard that Bryan and Angeline had temporarily separated after Bryan recovered. Her body was weak because she had no appetite. Dr. Edward was there and instructed Grandma to eat to regain her strength.
"Granny, why don't you eat and recover? Why worry about someone who has recovered from an accident?" Dr. Edward tried to convince Grandma.
"It's all Bryan's fault, and where is Bryan now? It's like he's avoiding me. He hasn't even called me."
John, who was there, and Dr. Edward exchanged glances and seemed to pass the task of explaining where Bryan was to each other. In the end, it was John who explained.
"Grandma, the accident was handled well, and now the CEO is passionately working on some office tasks."
"What? How can he be busy at the office instead of picking up Angeline and my great-grandchild?" Grandma grumbled, not calming down after hearing John's explanation, but getting even more upset.
"If Bryan can't do it, then I'll be the one to meet Angeline and apologize," Grandma continued, trying to get up, but her body was so weak that she couldn't stand.
"Grandma! If you insist on doing this, your condition will get worse. You should rest and listen to your doctor!" Dr. Edward scolded.
Grandma couldn't argue and decided to return to her room. After that, both John and Dr. Edward left Grandma's house.
"Listen to me, John, Grandma must not find out about the CEO's situation. If she does, her condition will worsen, and that's dangerous for her," Dr. Edward said.
John took out a handkerchief and wiped the sweat from Dr. Edward's brow.
"But why is Dr. Edward sweating so much? Was it hard to pretend earlier?" John asked playfully.
Dr. Edward laughed at John's amusing question.
That morning, Angeline went to the hospital and met with Dr. Edward to get an explanation about Bryan's condition. Dr. Edward explained everything to Angeline.
"I hope Angeline can bear it, even though it feels difficult. Especially since Angeline is pregnant, it's not good for Angeline's baby if Angeline keeps thinking about such things. So I want Angeline to try to stay calm," Dr. Edward said, feeling sorry for her. Angeline nodded in understanding.
Suddenly, Bryan arrived and walked right into Dr. Edward's office.
"Why do you keep coming in without knocking?" Dr. Edward scolded, chastising Bryan for entering without knocking.
"Dr. Edward, why is there suddenly a distance between us? You and I are very close," Bryan replied, noticing Angeline in the room.
"What kind of fate is this? Why do I keep running into you?" Bryan asked in surprise.
"Hello," Angeline greeted and stood up to acknowledge Bryan.
"Yes, why do I keep running into you? Are you here now because someone you know is being treated in this hospital? Or did you cause another scene by passing out in some random place?"
"No, someone I know is here," Angeline replied, nodding in confirmation.
"I see. And who is this person?"
Of course, this question left Angeline at a loss as to how to answer it. She was about to answer when Bryan glanced at a screen displaying medical data that he recognized as his own.
"How could you do something illegal by showing my medical records to someone else?" Bryan accused angrily.
"Oh, that's because she's Bryan's personal secretary. Earlier, Angeline came because she was worried about you, so I explained Bryan's current condition," Dr. Edward lied.
Now, before Bryan could ask various questions, Angeline decided to take off her wedding ring. It could be dangerous if Bryan saw her wearing the ring that should have been given to Sera.
"So, what's your name?"
"Angeline."
"Angeline? Angeline? Why do I get the feeling that's not unfamiliar?"
After hearing this name, Bryan unconsciously repeated Angeline's name several times, and he himself felt confused.
"Maybe it's because my name is too common and ordinary," Angeline replied.
"I think a common and ordinary name means that a lot of people like the name," Angeline replied with a smile. She knew that Bryan would remember everything eventually. She just had to wait.
"But how did you become my personal secretary? Did we meet again after that night?" Bryan asked, apparently not remembering what had happened after their first meeting.
Angeline then made up a plausible story for Bryan about how she became his personal secretary.
"Yes, and we began to meet frequently. You saw me running, and because I was very fast, you liked it. You said I might be able to get things done fast, too, so you asked me to come in for an interview."
"Well, that doesn't seem possible. It's an unusual way to hire a secretary. I can't believe I would do such a thing."
"Yes, it was like that at first. I was also very confused and wondered why I was hired in such a strange way."
John came in to rescue Angeline from Bryan's growing confusion.
"Angeline, you've come, I see. Have you arranged the President's schedule as I requested?" John greeted Angeline, knowing from Dr. Edward that Angeline was posing as Bryan's personal secretary.
"John, is it true that Angeline is his personal secretary?" Bryan asked, looking at both of them incredulously.
"I think Angeline and I make a great team," John almost slipped up by addressing Angeline as "Nyo" (a polite address for Mrs.), but he quickly corrected himself. Both John and Angeline then nodded together to convince Bryan.
"In that case, I'll take my leave," Angeline said, and John was about to leave with her.
"Wait, come here," Bryan ordered, calling Angeline back and asking her to come closer. Angeline complied, and Bryan then showed her a ring he had found among his belongings.
"Do you know this ring? I asked Sera, and she said she didn't give me this ring. Then why is this ring with me? Isn't it a woman's ring?"
"Ah, this ring belongs to her. Due to certain circumstances, I kept it for you, President. So let me give it back to her now," Angeline said and reached for the ring. But Bryan refused to give it to her.
"No, I'm keeping this ring until I remember everything because you might be lying to me," Bryan told her.
In the parking lot, Bryan waited for Dr. Edward, and after Dr. Edward passed by, Bryan left his hiding place, startling Dr. Edward.
"Bryan... you surprised me!"
"I know what's going on, but I still remember bits and pieces that confuse me," Bryan explained, leaving Dr. Edward puzzled.
"What do you mean? Are you... not suffering from amnesia? Don't you remember the events of the past year?"
"You're the doctor, why do you ask like that? I still forget some things. But I'm sure that something happened last year. That's why I did some research, and I finally realized what happened to me last year."
"What... did you find out?" Dr. Edward asked curiously.
"How can I recover from amnesia that sometimes appears and disappears like this?"
"You need a lot of rest. Don't stress, and clear your mind of any heavy thoughts. So don't worry. You'll definitely get your memories back."
Bryan staggered away with his back to Dr. Edward.
"How can I not worry? My grandmother, Angeline, and the universe... my family. There's so much to think about. Why does everything have to be like this when I really want to build a harmonious family with Angeline?" Bryan almost cried, barely holding back the tears.
